My mind is blown. I thought I had the plot all figured out, but then there was a twist and then another and then another. By the end my head was spinning but in a good way. This was my first Freida McFadden, and I'm hooked. I can't wait to read her others. This story was about two coworkers who don't really like each other. Natalie, a beautiful woman, is a bully to Dawn and excludes her from meetings, parties, and just makes jokes at her expense. This goes on until, one day, Dawn goes missing and the finger is pointed at Natalie. Natalie claims she's innocent, but the evidence shows that it must be Natalie. This book kept my interest and on edge. It was a great read.

Been bingeing Freida's books and here's another great read from her. A fast paced thriller with all the twists we've grown to expect but not know when or where they'll appear.

Freida never disappoints with her twists and turns. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy not knowing the plot twist from the beginning. Her ability to thrill you through her writing is impeccable. 5/5 stars.

Amazing! One of my favorites by Freida! This book has everything I love. Suspense, crime, a little bit of romance and an unexpected twist! I always try to figure out the exact ending in Freida’s books and I have never been able to thus far! It makes it so exciting! I loved that it switched POV’s at one point and you got to really know the thoughts of the other person and what exactly has been going on. So interesting and so good!!! Highly recommend.

This was a quick read and kept me interested the whole time. Thanks for the ARC. Can't wait to read more by this author!

THE COWORKER-Freida Mcfadden

If I recommend anybody to you and you decide to pick up a book I have suggested I urge you to grab a Freida! Her books are sooo thrilling and something about them just makes you want to read more and more. A perfect popcorn chiller to hang out with a snack and devour quickly. Short chapters and quick wit and not a lot of description but something about her writing makes you want more and more. Kind of like when I eat pizza. They are very very addicting. I have loved every single one of them and this was no exception. Freida has her own personal fan page and leading up to the release of this book she introduced us to a little figurine turtle named Sheldon. Now if you followed along, let’s say Sheldon wasn’t the nicest turtle.

When I got asked to read the ARC of this book when the turtle part came up I laughed out loud. It was such a clever marketing on her end. You meet Dawn who is obsessed with turtles. Dawn reminded me so much of Sam off of Atypical but in girl form. Dawn goes missing and her co worker is left with the mystery of finding out what happens to Dawn. Not all is what it seems….

I want to send a huge thank you to @fmcfaddenauthor and @netgalley for the chance to read this early. I am a bit late on my review but I read it within the day. I am a Freida Reada for life! I would like to thank Mandy from @poisonedpenpress for the opportunity to review and read another thriller from this amazing author.

I am looking forward to reading The Teacher being released in February.

If you are looking to read Freida’s collection it is in KindleUnlimited. But I have ordered The Coworker for the Breton Library! How cool is that??!!!

The Coworker in Freida McFadden’s latest psychological thriller is Dawn Schiff, who appears to be on the autism spectrum, yet her co-workers do not seem to pick up on that, and instead they are not very nice to her. However, is this all an act on her part?

Her arch nemesis seems to be Natalie, the top salesperson of a nutritional supplement company called Vixed, who works in the cubicle next to Dawn. Both women are driven by secrets in their lives.

Seemingly Dawn, who works at Vixed as an accountant, lacks empathy, rarely says the right thing because she cannot judge those around her, and ultimately has no friends. Or does she?

Dawn is an early-to-the office type, maintains a strict schedule of bathroom breaks and lunch breaks. People could set a clock by her. She’s never late, and yet one day she does not show up to work at all. Natalie, who has given Dawn a ride home in the past, becomes worried because no one has heard from Dawn, and when Natalie picked up a call in Dawn’s cubicle, she hears who she thinks is Dawn say, “Help me!”

After work, Natalie goes to Dawn’s place, where she finds a lot of blood on the floor. Natalie calls the police, but in a twist, she becomes the prime suspect. What next happens is well-planned and played out by a Dawn who has been working toward this certain moment for years.

Freida McFadden, a brain injury trained physician, has stated that one of her favorite books is Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn because of the incredible twist in that story. She writes psychological thrillers and medical humor novels. She self-published her first book on Amazon in 2013. McFadden is best known for her book The Housemaid. She lives with her family and black cat in a centuries-old three-story home overlooking an ocean.

My review will be posted on Goodreads starting November 12, 2023.

I would like to thank Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in return for an objective review.

An exciting, unputdownable, explosive fast-paced addictive psychological thriller. I enjoyed every second of this book. I couldn't turn the page fast enough. Freida always gives a twist that leads to a shocking ending. A must-read. My favorite book by Freida!!

I love Freida's popcorn thriller books and this was no exception. A coworker goes missing and when Natalie goes looking, she finds a body.

I liked the emails and that the MC is neurodivergent. I did not like any of the characters, but that isn't really necessary for me in a thriller. I thought the story itself unfolded a little slow for me, but I'm glad I kept with it because that twist. Never even considered it as I read.

Fabulous! Lots of wonderful twists, and this book kept my attention throughout. I liked how the narration switched between the two main characters, and the fact that the one was presented mostly in email form was quite effective. Excellent writing, intriguing plot--everything one wants from this kind of book! Many thanks for NetGalley and Poison Pen Press for an e-ARC of this book. I'll definitely be seeking out more books by Freida McFadden!

Dawn Schiff and Natalie Farrell both work for Vixed, a nutritional supplement company. Natalie is their top sales associate while Dawn works as an accountant. Dawn is on the eccentric side, adhering to a strict schedule, eating monochromatic meals, and obsessing about turtles. When she doesn't show up for work and doesn't call in, Natalie is concerned, particularly since Dawn scheduled two meetings and didn't show up for either one. Natalie stops at Dawn's house to do a wellness check and is even more concerned when she finds a huge blood stain on the floor.
Fast paced psychological fiction with good plot twists and no one is who they seem. Remember that saying about revenge being a dish best served cold? Keep that in mind when reading The Coworker. Dawn is definitely on the spectrum, possibly has Asperger's. Should appeal to readers who enjoyed Gone Girl, The Maid's Diary, and the fiction of Rachel Hawkins and Lucy Foley.

I absolutely love Freida McFadden novels . I have been a fan since a friend gave me Never Lie , a novel that kept me up all night until I finished it . This book has many different twists and turns that held my attention from page one .

I can not wait for the next McFadden attention.

I just reviewed The Coworker by Freida McFadden. #NetGalley

I have read several books by Freida at this point, and I was impressed once again by her ability to blow my mind. I received an ARC of this book a few days before it was released, but I just realized that I never posted my review online. This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time and just when I thought I had it figured out, things took a sharp turn. This has been one of my top reads this year, and I am excited to read more of Freida's work in the future!

Anything Freida writes I want my hands on ASAP. “Co-worker”: fast pacing, grey cell destroyer, mind number, nail biter, nerve bender, scream shouter thriller you may possibly read in one sitting till you cannot feel your legs and head gets hurt! The unreliable characterization makes you guess till the end: which woman tells the truth, which one is the villanelle or both of them are angel and there’s someone sinister targeting them. The big twist that revealing at the end of part one was obvious from the beginning but the second and third ones revealing at end of part three and epilogue were very well executed. The plot revolves around two polar opposite coworkers who share cubicles next to each other. Overall: I just couldn’t put it down and enjoy the wild ride even though both characters are not much engaging. Riveting pacing, mind games, representation of cerebral palsy, bullying, suicide, on the spectrum is thought provoking approach to these sensitive issues. I cannot wait to go blind and read more works of the author in near future. Like I almost always say I wish her books were longer!
