Add Beckett to my book boyfriend list, STAT! These characters are perfect. Is it cliche a city girl comes out and finds herself in the country with a REAL man... yes! However it's not so in your face. The female lead, comes in ready to take on the world. Immediately getting her hands dirty and never once thinking of herself. Obsessed with them both, the town of Smile and the Get Lost Fishing resort.
Thank you netgalley for the ARC to this awesome novel, in exchange for my honest opinion.
Presley Ayers, a woman who's more comfortable in heels than hiking boots, gets dumped by her boyfriend just before their camping trip to the Get Lost Lodge near Lake Michigan. Undeterred, she decides to go on the trip solo. At the lodge, she meets Beckett Keller, a rugged outdoorsman dealing with lodge troubles of his own. Despite their mismatched interests, they can't deny the chemistry between them. Sparks fly as they navigate their differences, making them question if opposites really do attract.
I liked the idea behind the story, but I’m just not a fan of love-at-first-sight scenarios. I really wanted to enjoy it, but it felt too clichéd, like it had all the typical elements you find in these kinds of stories. Also, there were parts where the plot seemed to drag, and some bits felt like they were repeating.
I liked the characters, especially Presley and Beckett, and the whole found family vibe was a high point for me. I did appreciate Presley's independence when she dumped her boyfriend and went on the trip alone, even if she seemed a bit codependent sometimes later in the story. The lodge idea and the side characters were interesting, especially Ollie, but I wished they had more spotlight to make the story feel more authentic. However, Sophie Sullivan's writing paints such a vivid picture that I felt like I was right there in Smile and Get Lost, soaking in the town and the lodge's atmosphere.
The insta-love trope in this story made it seem a bit like fanfiction. Personally, I find instant love romances can be hit or miss, and this one definitely missed the mark for me. I still remain open to Sullivan's future works, and I would love to read more of a slow burn from her!
"Love, Naturally" is set to publish January 16, 2024. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Luckily this was a super quick read. However, I did not enjoy it much. I'm not a huge fan of insta love in a contemporary romance book. While I know feelings can happen quickly and heavily, 10 days is just a bit unrealistic. I also feel like there were so many tropes included in this I couldn't keep up.
Presly was so annoying to me. Wish she wasn't the stereotypical female afraid of bugs or creatures of literally any kind. I did appreciate her still doing hard things though. Absolutely cannot relate as I love hiking and being outdoors and finding creatures (a salamander is an amazing find and I could cry happy tears). I don't always need to relate to characters but this was just too much for me.
This Beckett seemed too similar to In the Weeds Beckett by BK Borison. Especially with going live on social media and asking for forgiveness and spouting their love. Pretty much exactly the same.
Thank you so much to netgalley and the publisher for the e-arc.
This book was the equivalent of a warm hug. It was seriously such a good read and one of the better "sweet" romances I've read in quite a few months. The found family elements were *chef's kiss.*
No graphic sex scenes depicted, so this novel would be great for a younger audience or for readers who don't like all of the spice.
Even though the main timeline of the book only happens over a span of 10 days, the timeline of the novel doesn't actually feel rushed, or on the flip side of that, doesn't feel to drawn out either. Sophie Sullivan absolutely nailed it.
Fav quote - "I've had better days, gramps." "The good thing about that is you know they exist." I felt that.
Ollie was such an adorable addition to the side characters and added the perfect amount of extra cuteness and sweetness to the book. I absolutely loved her.
Overall, an absolutely beautifully written small town romance. 100% looking forward to reading more from Sophie Sullivan.

Hotel services specialist and social media influencer Presley Ayer’s is excited to surprise her boyfriend with a vacation to the Get Lost Lodge. When the jerk tells her he’d rather go with a friend than her, she surprises them both and decides to take the trip on her own. A tried and true city girl, Presley is a fish out of water learning to hike, bike, and fish on the cute, but rustic island. But she finds she loves the place and the people, especially Beckett Keller. Beckett’s brother owns the lodge and Beckett and their sister Jilly are helping him fix it up and make it profitable. Beckett is at a crossroads in his life and is trying to decide whether to start his own business or take a job hours away from his family. Presley popping up in his life is a complication. Beckett is looking for his forever, but Presley’s whole life is in the city. Can they navigate their differences and get their happily ever after?
Love, Naturally by Sophie Sullivan is a feel good, warm fuzzy story. The characters are amazing. Presley is just the sweetest, most helpful person. She desperately wants to find a family and place to belong. Beckett is such a marshmallow. He’s kind, a hard-worker, a beloved member of his community, and believes in family first. They were made for each other and couldn’t help but be drawn to one another. The Keller’s, the citizens of Smile, and the guests of Get Lost Lodge were all wonderful. Smile was the best little town. A place anyone would be lucky to live in. A place where the community pulls together and neighbors help neighbors. Sullivan has given us a sweet, heartwarming romance. Low on the angst and high on the happy. The writing was joyful and fun. A nice little treat for readers. Sullivan leaves you wanting more from the community of Smile, the Get Lost Lodge, and the Keller family.
Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the ARC! I've read a couple of Sullivan's other novels and enjoyed them. In this one, I loved the instant attraction and palpable chemistry between Presley and Beck! However, at times I thought the pacing was a little slow and the writing a little repetitive. This was somewhere between a 3 and 3.5 for me overall, but I did really enjoy parts of it, especially Presley's self-growth thanks to Beck.
3/5 ⭐️
Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy to read and review.
It was overall a cute story. I felt like the beginning was too fast and the middle was too slow. However, the ending timing was just right! It would’ve been 4 stars for me had the beginning and middle timing been a little more “right.”
I loved the main character, Presley. She learned who she was, stretched herself, and grew a lot. I also loved the family relationships. And the sweet friendships.
This is my first book by this author, so I have nothing to base my expectation on except the blurb. I found it a bit odd that the day after breaking up with her boyfriend of 8 months, Presley was falling in love with a new guy. I just struggled with this despite knowing it can happen because the execution of the way she felt towards Becket. Basically, the chemistry was lacking for me. I loved the setting of the book which was a big plus. I felt that at times this book was repetitive, like Beckett constantly reminding us that he’s afraid to share his dream with his family. I also felt that there were too many attempts at making Presley seem high maintenance. Just because you don’t like camping and enjoy nice things, doesn’t mean you’re high maintenance. The pacing was also off. For such an insta love romance, the pages moved very slowly.
This just wasn’t the book I wanted it to be.
Thank you so much to the publisher and netgalley for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
Sadly, I did not finish this book! Halfway through the book, I just gave up. This is my second book by Sophie, first one was “How to love your neighbour”. I enjoyed it much more than this.
The premise of the plot was promising but the writing for me failed it. Character wise, I liked Beckett(MMC) more than Presley(FMC). She broke up with her idiot boyfriend and on almost the same day fell for another guy. Beckett is sweet and charming, but the plot that he is always worrying about telling his family about his passion project, is repeatedly reminded in every chapter.
The family at Get Lost Lodge is all good people, nice characters nothing wrong. But, somehow the writing doesn’t flow well for me. Every minute of every day is explained in lot of words, everybody standing in the scene is mentioned. I couldn’t care about each guest at the lodge and their thoughts. The chapters are dual pov which is a plus for me, but I felt strange. It felt like the writing was one minute first person account and the next it felt third person account in the same paragraph? Also, the pacing is slow. Maybe, this needed more editing.
Sorry I feel bad for not reading it but I pushed for 21 chapters and couldn’t look forward to next half of the book. Thanks netgalley for sharing the arc in return for my honest feedback.
hooked and hooked some more. Loved all of this and couldn't put it down. I was like oh my. I need to know more. Read it.
This book is schmaltzy but cute, and I'm not sure it's as good as the previous series by this author, but the small town at the heart of it is fun and could make for a good series going forward. I like the idea of taking marketing as a skill seriously, and I would like to be friends with Presley. I liked that we get chapters both from Beckett and Presley - definitely my preferred romance novel setup. All in all, a solid effort.
I received an ARC for free in exchange for a potential review.
2.5/5
okay so this book had a cute setting, had cute characters, had cute intentions, but the outcome... not cute
presley breaks up with her boyfriend and goes on a little trip by herself to a lodge, even though she's not an outdoorsy person at all. then she meets one of the owners, he's hot, the "fall in love." everything sounds cute and you would think this book would be slightly action packed but it simply isn't. the pacing is really odd and slow, there are so many characters and not really a stable plot line so everything just gets jumbled. i didn't completely dislike this book i just think it needed more things going on, or maybe some drama, i don't even know just something to keep readers interested the whole time.
this author has some other books that look like they have more of a central plot so i might check those out and hope the appeal to me more than this one did.
*thank you NetGalley for the ARC*
2.5 Rounded up.
This is the second book I've read from this author and I think the style is just for me. It's very Hallmark, closed-door, but also super low-stakes. Presley works as a concierge at a luxury hotel with dreams of managing her own hotel. She surprised her boyfriend, Emmet, with a trip to a place he had planned to go with the boys. Cabins, fishing, outdoor adventures, Presley is an indoor girl, but she hope this trip will take things to the next level. Emmet was excited for the gift, but didn't want her to go to ruin his trip with all her high maintenance stuff. She dumps his a$% and decides to go on the trip alone and drown her miseries in her cabin. But then she meets Becket, who owns the resort with his siblings and they spar right away.
Precocious kids, small town gossip, updating a falling down in....all of these are fun elements but were just missing something. Also, she's a social media influencer in addition to her day job and I really hope this FMC career isn't the new journalist career in romcoms because the postings and hashtags are so tedious. Thank you St. Martin's Press for the ARC for my honest review.
Absolutely loved this one!
Sophie Sullivan is so talented at sharing the inner thoughts of the characters. I thought it was a really unique story, and I instantly fell in love with the characters!
This book was absolutely fantastic! I immediately felt drawn into the characters, and they were so well described. I felt like I could picture them in my mind. I have really enjoyed books by Sophie Sullivan in the past, and this is no different. I would definitely recommend this book!
Loved this book and loved all the characters. Especially loved Ollie and wish we had more of her! i enjoyed the small town vibe and relationship. between the siblings.
Sophie has hit it out of the park with this book! I literally could not put it down and was so invested in the relationship between Presley and Beckett. I could feel the emotional pull from both sides and was rooting for them the whole time. There was a good mix of humor and real life emotions that balanced each other out very well. While I was concerned there would not be enough content with Presley only being at the lodge for 10 days, Sophie did a great job of making time seem to stand still so the flow of the relationship didn't feel rushed. I felt as if I got to know the characters personally and was right there with the family the entire time. My only regret is that I read the book so quickly it left me wanting more!
I had a hard time finishing this book.
Since it’s over the course of 10 days it was a very slow pace, However the characters were written amazingly
This book wasn’t for me though
I will admit, while I am a huge fan of the author’s three other books, I was skeptical of this one just because I had seen so many books come out recently of social media influencers going to the wilderness. However, this story took a different turn; instead of Presley changing herself to fit the guy, she stayed herself and the guy accepted her as she was, not a total outdoorsy person, lover of social media, etc. The natural way these two fell together was so natural it felt like magic. I literally went online to go find a small town I could go to visit to get away from the chaotic life of corporate America. This book is perfect for those who love Gilmore Girls and hot mountain men. I would also LOVE a cute story about shy Adam falling in love!!
"Love, Naturally" by Sophie Sullivan promises to be a delightful tale of unexpected connections and stepping outside one's comfort zone. This opposites-attract romance offers readers a chance to embark on a journey of self-discovery and adventure.
The story's premise, where Presley, a city girl with little camping experience, finds herself on an unexpected solo trip to Get Lost Lodge, is intriguing. The immediate clash between her urban sophistication and the rustic nature of the lodge sets the stage for a captivating narrative.
Beckett, a rugged lodge owner with his own set of challenges, provides an interesting counterbalance to Presley's character. The contrasts between them, from their lifestyles to their appearances, seem to create a foundation for romantic tension and growth throughout the story.
Sullivan introduces readers to two distinct worlds, one of luxury and one of wilderness, with the promise of transformation and personal revelations. This contrast adds depth and authenticity to the characters and their budding relationship.
The inexplicable draw between Presley and Beckett suggests a compelling emotional connection and chemistry. Readers can anticipate a story that not only explores love but also the personal growth that can come from stepping out of one's comfort zone and embracing new experiences.
"Love, Naturally" appears to be a romance novel that captures the essence of taking risks and finding love in unexpected places. With its appealing premise and well-constructed characters, it has the potential to be a heartwarming and engaging read for those who enjoy stories of love and self-discovery.
