There were such cute designs in this book! I have made amigurumi and know how difficult it can be to figure it out. The detailed descriptions of how to do each stitch are great for beginners (and anyone needing a refresher!). I would definitely think about picking this book up in the future to make some of these cuties!
I’d consider myself an intermediate crocheted but I’ve never crouched a stuffed animal. I thought this book started off with a good explanation of stitches and materials. The patterns are written clearly and easy to follow. I bought a copy for my personal library.
Thank you to the Lauren Bergstrom, Quarto Publishing Group, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at amigurumi, but thought it looked too complicated?
Bergstrom is here to help with lessons on making a dozen cute and cuddly critters. This is a great book for beginners! The projects are less complicated than many I've seen, but still WAY adorable. Following the author's clear and easy-to-understand instructions, you'll be making your own French Bulldog or red panda in no time. The hardest part will be deciding which cutie to create first.
The title of the book says it all! This is filled with easy to follow patterns to make some incredibly cute & adorable amigurumi figures of varying sizes. I’d class my crocheting as intermediate & I found this book easy to follow. I can’t wait to make another, once I find the shades of wool I want!
Cute & Cuddly Crochet by Lauren Bergstrom looks like an adorable book, but unfortunately I was unable to open it on any of my devices. If I am able to in the future I will happily give an updated review. Based on the cover it would be right up my alley! Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I would like to thank netgalley and Quarto Publishing for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Cute and easy to follow instructions.
I love to crochet, but I'm really awful at tiny amigurumi, so the larger sizes in this book are much more suited to my preferences. I am about halfway through the flamingo pattern (it's my best friend's favorite animal and the wings are SO cute), and have found the pattern itself easy to read and use so far. I like that the book gives information on color changes (something I usually avoid) and how to stuff the animals, although I have not gotten there yet. There's also information on techniques and stitches for those who may be newer to the hobby. I did not spend much time with the videos because I learned crochet from reading patterns and videos tend to confuse me, but I know many people nowadays learn with videos, so it's great that they're there.
I think I would enjoy this book even more in person rather than just digitally, because there's only so much you can zoom in on your phone, but this is a solid set of very cute patterns and would be a great start at amigurumi for people used to making larger projects.
Good pattern book. The patterns are well written and the finished animals are adorable. I definitely recommend this book!
Such a cute book! I’m new to the art of crochet and amigurumi and while I haven’t tried a pattern from this book yet, it looks like the patterns are easy to read and follow to end up with some darling stuffies! Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!
Cute & Cuddly Crochet results in exactly what it says cute and cuddly amigurumi animals. Instructions are included for a peacock, a French bulldog mother and child, an octopus, a narwhal, a red panda, a dinosaur, a lion, a fox, an elephant, a platypus, a llama and a sloth. Amigurumi are traditionally very small stuffed animals, but these are much bigger thanks to the use of super bulky yarn. The peacock is twenty-five inches tall! The book suggests using regular worsted or even fingering yarn to create a smaller animal.
The instructions and illustrations are clear and easy to read. No advanced stitches are used making this book an excellent choice for those new to crochet. I’ve already bought yarn to create my own large octopus. Happy stitching! 5 stars and a favorite for Cute & Cuddly Crochet.
Thanks to Walter Foster Publishing and NetGalley for a digital review copy of the book.
I absolutely LOVED this book! I consider myself to be an expert at crochet, and I was able to pick up some new tips and tricks from making this giant narwhal for my daughter. I normally get frustrated making amigurumi, but with large yarn and a large hook this came together really fast in three sittings! I think this book would be great for beginners, too. Every stitch had a diagram of how to work it and all the steps were explained thoroughly. Seriously so cute, and one to pick up so you can make your own cute and cuddly friend!
Thank you to @netgalley and @quartobooksus for a digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
I am a beginner crocheter and when I stumbled upon this ARC on Netgalley I became very excited! The patterns are easy to read and the pictures are bright and colorful. The beginning few pages with tips and tricks and the pictures of each common stitch was quite helpful as well! I loved the unique animals patterns that were offered - you don't see these cute animals very often. Overall I am very excited to start my first animal (once I find the perfect shade for the red panda!)
Thank you Lauren Bergstrom, Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster, and Netgalley for the ARC!
Looks like a cute book of crochet patterns, however, the file was corrupted every time I tried to download it.
If you’re looking for some super cute crochet patterns, this is the book for you! Inside, you will find 12 super cute patterns. It also opens with a list of supplies one needs for all of the patterns, such as crochet hooks, pins, and stuffing. There’s also a small explanation for why you need each of these items. For example, pins are extremely helpful with pinning pieces together prior to sewing rather than trying to hold them in place by hand!
There is also a how-to guide for the stitches one will use while crocheting the patterns included. Of the books I’ve read over the years, the stitch guide is among the best ones I’ve seen! The graphs and written instructions are excellent and will work well for most people learning how to crochet with this book. Outside of that, videos are the next best thing to these graphs and instructions! I also like that there’s a small section devoted to teaching new crocheters how to count their stitches. It’s something that usually gets skipped over even in other books written for beginners, so it was nice to see it included.
The patterns are absolutely adorable and easy to follow. While there isn’t a difficulty scale, I think that nearly all of the patterns would work very well for someone’s first project. I also like that there’s a small section devoted to tips and tricks, and absolutely love that the stitch abbreviations that are seen in the patterns are presented before the patterns begin. I’ve seen them appear at the end of pattern books before, and it never makes sense to me. It’s also printed in large font and a way that makes it eye-catching, so it’ll be easy for anyone who needs to reference the abbreviations to spot it fast.
All in all, I think that this is an excellent book with some very cute patterns. It’s simple enough for beginners and includes an excellent stitch guide as well as a number of other helpful tips that will be useful. While it’s written with people new to crocheting in mind, it’s an excellent pattern book for people of all levels of experience.
The projects in this book are great for beginners. I’m very new to crochet and I was able to read the patterns. I love the illustrated tutorials on basics crochet stitches in the first section of the book.
Each perfect is super cute and fun. They make large cuddly stuffed animals. My niece and nephew are always asking me to make them things. I can’t wait to make some of the fun stuffies from this book!
this is not your grandmother's crochet. The people who crochet are of all race, color, creed and sex and amigurumi is HOT! Lauren Bergstrom's easy to follow patterns helped me produce excellent results that impressed all my friends and family. Don't be intimidated by the look, this book will make you an expert in easy steps.
I love crochet, but have never been that good at the small stuff i.e. making animals. That being said, this book had a wide range of excellently laid out patterns, with instructions that made sense even to a novice toy crocheter like me. My favourite pattern was the dinosaur! But the platypus holds a special place in my heart as an Aussie. Overall, great book with many cute patterns. I haven't had time to actually start the Dino, but I will when I get the time!
This was a NetGalley review.
Cute and fun for crochet projects. Not too difficult to understand and execute. The theme is really nice and should be a good sell with people who crochet. I would recommend adding it to kindle as well as physical copies for different audiences.
So many cute ideas. I'm definitely going to share the llama with my friend that loves them and crochets. I love the easy to follow instructions and pictures.
These patterns are cute and pretty easy to follow, they were beginner friendly for me and I have only made a few other things so far. Overall, I think the content was pretty well laid out and easy to follow.
