This book is so cute and easy to read! As a beginner crocheter, I found all of the patterns very easy to understand. If you’re looking for quick projects with unique animals, look no further!
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
I am an advanced crocheter, and i totally fell for the french bulldog ! All the toys were so cute. And good for beginners to see the different stitches used at the beginning.
I will probably make the french bulldog first but the others are nice too ! Thank you for the really cute patterns. I'm really impatient.
As a crocheter who's new to the world of stuffed animals, I thought this was delightful, approachable, and super cute! Will definitely refer back to this and take plenty of inspiration from it.
I love this book! As someone who recently learned how to crochet, these patterns felt totally doable. Lauren Bergstrom breaks everything down in the beginning to make this very user friendly.. I can't wait to make some stuffed animals to give as gifts.
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group and Netgalley for this ARC!
Great pattern book for both pros and newbies. I love that there is a thorough explanation of stitches, materials and terms that includes pictures. The patterns are absolutely precious and the instructions are quick and easy to follow. For beginners they will give you great practice that results in cutesy little lovies and for pros they would be easy to alter and make your own creations. Definitely recommend it for my fellow crocheters!
⭐️: 5/5
I’ve been a casual crochet-er for about a decade now, but I definitely got more into it during the Covid lockdowns, during which time I made approximately 3 blankets. I’ve been looking to get more into making little crochet animals, but have been struggling to find good, comprehensive tutorials that are reliable and trustworthy, and actually tell you all the materials you’re going to need up front. This book is great because the instructions are so clear, the pictures are really informative, and you get the patterns for many different crochet animal projects. I loved making the little dinosaur, and I can’t wait to try out some more!
This is a really adorable collection of patterns of Japanese-inspired designs for stuffed animals. It also includes basic instructions that are easy to follow, even for beginners. As someone relatively new to crochet, I'm really looking forward to making a few of these for gifts! Love it!
[Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!]
I love this book! It gives the basics and a step by step on how to make so many different little plushies of different animals. I am a beginner in crochet and it is very beginner friendly. There are pictures to show you as well. It tells you what materials and tools you will need, what the size is going to be as the end product and what kind of stitching you would be doing. It breaks it down in body parts and then how to put it together. I thought this was a very informative crocheting book that could be helpful to those who would want to dive into crocheting.
I'm a very advanced crocheter, and I think this collection of amigurumi patterns is great for anybody who wants to crochet. The beginning goes over all the terms, different types of stitches, and the materials you'll need. I like that while every pattern uses super bulky yarn, there's an example at the beginning of what a piece will look like if you used worsted weight.
Some of the amigurumi are unique. Sloths, red pandas, platypuses, and french bulldogs are not common patterns so it's nice to have something a bit different.
They way most of the patterns add limbs is very unique to me. Gaps are created on the main piece and legs are then crocheted on from the gaps. Usually you either start with the legs and crochet the body onto them or have to sew them on individually, which I personally hate doing.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy.
Cute and Cuddly Crochet is all about upscaled amigurumi. Big-urumi? Meg-urumi?
Worked in bulky yarn, there are twelve adorable plush animals to make that are all extremely cute and designed to be cuddled. Each project gives you the expected size of the finished animal, and is well laid out with easy to follow patterns and progress shots of the pieces. (I do like the technique of leaving holes for the legs and adding them on!).
Stitches, tools, techniques and abbreviations were all clearly outlined at the start of the book, and the tips and tricks section was a useful addition. .
I would recommend this for an advanced beginner, or someone used to creating amigurumi rather than someone just picking up a hook for the first time.
I will be definitely making the flamingo and the dinosaur!
~ Many thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review~
Super easy instructions with photos to help you understand the different stitches. And such adorable plushies to make I plan to make more of the ones in the book cause they’re all adorable!
Can't wait to make them all!
This is a perfect book for amigurumi fan who want bigger creations, but struggle to convert the patterns themselves. Not only are these absolute adorable, but simple, too. Lauren Bergstrom starts the book with easy-to-understand directions, both with what supplies she uses (and why), and detailed descriptions of the different stitches. Not to mention the helpful tips and tricks and embellishment ideas. You don't need to be a master to make these little cuties; I am not an accomplished crocheter, but was able to complete narwhal with ease-- and it looks like a narwhal! I can't wait to make them all.
I received this book as an advanced reader copy from NetGalley.
He conseguido esta copia avanzada gracias a Netgalley. Gracias.
Me ha encantado.
Las explicaciones son claras y los diseños muy originales.
El Octopus es el que más me gustó.
As a long time crocheter and infrequent amigurumi maker, I appreciated that Cute & Cuddly Crochet focused on using super bulky yarn to make larger animals. I also loved the less typical animals included in the book -- the red panda and platypus are so cute!
I made the narwhal and found it a lot easier to do than the typical worsted weight amigurumi. I found the patterns well written. I noticed some of them left specific spaces to attach legs, which would make placement so much easier. The narwhal pattern did not but it did provide row numbers to help with placement, which was great.
I wish the book recommended brands that carried 7mm and 13mm hooks as I was unable to find anywhere that sold a 13mm hook. While the crochet basics section was sufficient for my use given my experience, it would have been useful to see other resources (like videos) listed.
Overall I thought it was a great book and I look forward to making large amigurumi for my kids.
A preliminary read through of the book and I’m very very excited about it. The patterns seem well written, and user-friendly, especially for beginner crocheters. I am an intermediate to experience crochet her at this point and these patterns look like they will be quick to work up. Stay tuned for further feedback as I start to make the Frenchie for my first project.
I am loving the patterns! Easy and fun. I'm an average crochet addict so these are just what I have been need to find. Come have fun and make some delightful creations. Thanks #Netgalley and #WalterFosterPublishing for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.
The patterns were easy to read, the diagrams were well illustrated and easy to understand, and the finished products were all very cute. I'll be trying to make some of these myself!
This is super adorable. I didn’t make all of the animals, but the patterns seem clear. Unusual stitches are described. For the sewing, there are clear images of the placement for each piece. The heads are crocheted continuously with the body which is much better in my opinion. The opening sections about how to crochet seemed well done. I already know, so it’s hard to judge. The only complaint I have is that the elephant’s trunk starts above the eyes which is a bit odd, but maybe it’s more cutesy that way.
I’m obsessed with crotcheting these cute little plushies since starting a kit from the woobles. Excited to try out the patterns in this book as I advance in this fun craft.
Super cute crochet patterns in an easy to understand format. I love how basics are covered in the first few pages of the book. There are quite a few that I can’t wait to make for Christmas like the flamingo and the narwhal!
What an cute book! The designs in here are absolutely adorable - I love them all. Each animal is bursting with character. There’s a brilliant ‘how to’ intro section on crochet,, making this book suitable even if you’re a beginner. The accompanying sketches give you fantastic visuals for how to complete each stitch. Would definitely recommend.
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster and Netgalley for an eARC of this book to read and review.
If you are looking to crochet cute amigurumi animals, this book is for you! With explicit directions and colorful photographs, you will whipping up the cute creatures in no time. The author uses a thicker yarn so these are perfect for baby and children gifts. I think these patterns will be good for a beginner crochet. I’m an intermediate to experienced crochet and I think these will be easy and fun to make. Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own
I really like this book of patterns. The animals are cute and the directions are very easy to follow. I also really love the step by step directions in the front for beginner fiber artists. Overall I look forward to making many more amigurumi projects from this book.
Wonderful instructions with lots of great explanatory information.. One thing I especially appreciated was the author included instructions on how to do an increase and keep the project round. I don't think I've ever seen that printed before and it's a super simple solution that every crocheter should learn. These patterns are adorable and also include things like different ways to add eyes and other fun embellishments that make the results especially cute.
I am an avid crocheter and often make several plushes for my kiddo. This book has many cute projects and are easy to follow. I like the drawings in the beginning of the book to show how to start stitches and what they should look like. Very helpful for beginners. I would definitely buy this book!
A wonderful book for fiber artists of all levels and ages. I really enjoyed reading this and feel a little less nervous about trying things that are unfamiliar to me with my yarn
First I love to crochet and this book has some cute patterns. The book has the basics for a crochet - so it's nice for beginners.
The patterns are so easy and cute. I can't wait to make them.
This book has some really lovely-looking patterns in. It has nice clear photos and diagrams, beginners should be able to follow them well.
I haven't tried to make any of the patterns, but they read very sensibly and I can't see any reason they'd not work!
I received an advance copy for free from NetGalley, on the expectation that I would provide an honest review.
Excuse me??? This is a book? Like all of these cute animals and the step by step. Thank god I have early access. Will be purchasing
12 patterns for adorable jumbo size amigurumi animals using super bulky yarn. Tools and materials, crochet basics, and tips and tricks are all organized with accompanying photos making the instructions clear. Don't want a jumbo size? The author explains how to crochet with different yarn weights for smaller animals. Each pattern comes with a charming illustration. I especially like the llama! I would put these patterns at an advanced beginner level.
Cute & Cuddly Crochet is a wonderful crocheting guide book. It has pictures and easy to follow directions. The crocheted animals are so cute! They will be fun to try! #Cute&cuddly crochet. #NetGalley #QuartoPublishingGroup
