A light yet engaging novella, Highlands Christmas is just what the holiday season ordered. It would make a wonderful gift for any book lover on your list, this year and every year.
Meet Melissa. Her husband just filed for divorce (what a Scrooge!) but she gets a letter in the mail with some good news. It says she’s inherited a house in Scotland. She sees this as the universe handing her the perfect opportunity for a fresh start! While at the airport, she meets and connects with a man travelling home to Scotland. What she doesn’t know is this man is her future ex-husband’s divorce attorney. Will her fresh start be threatened if all comes to light?!
I really enjoyed how untypical this Christmas romance was. I’m a self-proclaimed Queen of Christmas, so I’m a tad biased, but this book was a holiday moment! A holiday romcom filled with holiday merriment, this really helped me to get in the Christmas spirit bright and early. I also admired how for a novella, you didn’t feel rushed and Parrish didn’t try to fit too much material into the story. The words spoke for themselves, which really made this a special read.

This is a very sweet and cozy read. When everything falls apart in our heroine Melissa’s life, she leaves it all to start over in Scotland.. Will she be able to have the life she deserves or have to return to the states with her dreams broken.? There are lots of lovable side characters who join in to make her feel welcome in her town in Scotland . This is a great start to this new series.

This book had a great setting, but it didn't hit the mark. The book overall ended abruptly and I found the tropes tired.
I saw the title Highlands Christmas and knew I’d need to pick this book up! I didn’t realize it’s a novella which makes it perfect if you need a cute, Christmasy read by candlelight. The story follows Melissa, an American interior designer who is going through a divorce. She serendipitously runs into her ex’s lawyer, Colin en route to her new life in Inverness. The chemistry between the two is instant. I loved the older characters, second chance romance, and of course the setting! It’s a little stereotypical in some of the Scottish references but I thought it was well done since it’s all new to Melissa anyway. The story was a bit open ended but I think that was the perfect way to wrap it up. The reader can assume Melissa got everything she wished for Christmas!
I absolutely loved this quick little romance. It was so charming. This totally needs to be a movie. I loved love love this!! Scottland at Christmas with a new love. Yes can this please be my life!
I just reviewed Highlands Christmas - Wishes Come True by Amy Quick Parrish. #NetGalley

A perfect Christmas read that makes you want to go and pick your bags and travel to the Highlands this Christmas.
Very amateurish writing style as if writing for a child or screenplay for children’s programming or a bad Hallmark movie. Almost a daydream-like unrealistic quality. For instance, how does this character think she can just move to the UK without a visa just because she magically inherits a house from a long lost uncle, Jane Eyre-style, at the same time as her husband demands a divorce and that she remove herself from their marital home? Also, terrible name for the dog.
This is the first book I've read by Amy Quick Parrish and I really enjoyed it! The Christmas feeling and romance are pretty spot on. I would definitely recommend this for my upper teen or college aged students.
Thank you Netgalley for an arc of Highlands Christmas- Wishes Come True by Amy Quick Parrish
Highlands Christmas-Wishes Come True by Amy Quick Parrish is a sweet and heartwarming romance that transports readers to picturesque Scotland.
Melissa MacKenzie’s world is turned upside down when her husband reveals on Thanksgiving that he filed for divorce and wants her out of their house. Melissa unexpectedly receives a letter stating that she has inherited a house in Scotland.
While traveling to Scotland, she meets Colin MacGregor who just happens to be her husband’s divorce attorney. Colin also lives in the town where Melissa inherited her home and through a series of events Colin and Melissa grow romantically closer.

A cute Christmas novella set in Scotland, its a charming and upbeat of Melissa who just got told her husband wants a divorce. Loved the setting and story, just wished there was more!
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC
Overall, I found Highlands Christmas - Wishes Come True to be a sweet holiday novella. The welcoming Scottish setting was warm and inviting, the friendship between Melissa and the McGregor family heartwarming, but there were a things that were illogical and so unlikely that it was hard for me to fully enjoy the story. I am still glad that I read it though, and if you are looking for a quick holiday novella with a Hallmark movie vibe, give this a try.
I loved the Scottish culture!! It was fun getting to read about the different foods and traditions that they have in Scotland. But I didn't love how short the book was. I know that it's only a novella, but I was only just getting into it when the story finishes.
Overall, this was a fun read filled with lots of Scottish traditions. If you're looking for a quick and easy Christmas read, definitely give this one a go!
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book.
It’s short and sweet, sets the mood for the holidays. Melissa and Colin bump into each other quite a lot, and the coincidence that their destination is the same must be the work of fate. They grow closer to each other as they spend much time together. The setting was dreamy with the snowy Scotland and I liked the community of Inverness and the traditions of its people. Sometimes the story felt a bit rushed but all in all it was fine.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of the book.
Highlands Christmas…
I can start off my saying I feel so sorry for Melissa. Thinking her life is going great and her marriage is good until her husbands tells her he is cheating and wants a divorce. How awful that must feel!
She discovers she has a property in Scotland and there she discovers Colin! But Colin happens to be her husbands lawyer in the divorce.
Melissa ans Colin start hanging out more and more and he then helps her win the Scotland home in the divorce.
Scotland is growing on Melissa. She meets the locals and falls in love with the town and more.
Read along to see how Melissa finds happiness again.
This was a cute Christmas story. I don't know that I'd call it a romance though as we only get a kiss and the ending is kind of abrupt, not really qualifying for an HEA. Nothing is resolved with the MMC career/family, or the FMC's divorce, etc. A brief, cute, Scottish, christmassy read, but felt it was lacking in story development.
Highlands Christmas is a cute, Christmas romance. Interior Designer Melissa is looking forward to her favorite time of year, Christmas but her husband Dave spoils her festivities on Thanksgiving by announcing he wants a divorce. With a marriage imploding and a letter from Scotland announcing Melissa has inherited a property from a distant relative she decides to jet to Scotland to start a new chapter in her life and possibly a new romance with a hunky Scotsman… who is her ex-husbands lawyer?
This read will have you wanting to visit Scotland, attend the Highland Games abs have you dreaming about a man in a tartan kilt.
I wish there was more in depth details and monologue with the characters. I also wish we found out Dave’s reaction to the squirrels and what happened in the divorce.
Thanks to NetGalley and Flying Cactus for the ARC in exchange for this honest review. This was - 3.5 star review rounded up.
I love sweet holiday romances. Unfortunately, this one was missing many key things for me such as character development. The book began very abruptly. We had no time to learn either character or invest any feelings. I had no idea of the character’s ages or their physical appearances. The way Melissa was portrayed made me think of a plump Mrs. Claus. We have no idea of Melissa and Dave’s relationship but are hit within the first few pages of a divorce request. Hours after the divorce announcement—Melissa makes a life changing decision. Colin-the handsome Scott and lawyer had poor character development as well. What was his dating status, single because his last girl from the Highlands couldn’t get a Visa, any relationship with a lawyer, back in the states, or single, and still recovering from the loss of a high school sweetheart 10 yrs ago. I don’t know, because all three were sad. I’m really sorry, but this book really read like a rough draft that needs some intense edits to make sense and actually have people get attached to the characters. I didn’t care for this book, I think it could’ve made been made into such a cute story, but it was missing so much detail. The author didn’t spare the detail when describing Scotland and the Highlands, however, I need detail in the characters to feel invested.
If you’re a lover of Christmas, stories set in Scotland, Hallmark Christmas movies and happy endings then this one is for you.
Short, sweet and full of festivity, it’s a happy read for the holidays (though I read it in July haha)
Personally, I think I’m too jaded to enjoy the hallmark Christmas feel, so for me the story felt a bit too perfect. Everything just fell into place, nothing really hard to overcome. For someone changing their entire world I felt there would be a bit more drama of inner monologue. However it made me smile, and it made me laugh and it was lighthearted.
I got a free copy from Netgallery and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Highland’s Christmas by Amy Quick Parrish is a cute Christmas novella. It has all the common Christmas cliché stereotypes packed into one short story. If you’re looking for lights, snow, cookies, beverages, animals, family dynamics, Scottish Highlands, and a little romance, you will find it all in this sweet, clean, story (and a little more). There was not a lot of story or character development, so I will not focus on those aspects. Instead, take it for what it is: a short Christmas novella that makes you feel good about Christmas and happy endings.
