Description
Christmas wishes do come true.
Melissa MacKenzie is an American interior designer with a seemingly happy life — until her husband Dave reveals he's been cheating on her and wants a divorce and the house. But when a letter informs her that she will inherit a home in Scotland, things start looking up. At the airport she inadvertently meets Colin MacGregor, a charming Scottish-American lawyer who happens to be her husband's divorce lawyer. She's taken by his sexy Scottish accent and charm and, as fate would have it, he's on Melissa's flight to Edinburgh ... and on her train to Inverness, and happens to live in the same town where she's inherited her home.
As sparks fly between Melissa and Colin, he agrees to help her secure the Scottish home that she believes she's entitled to. They dive right into Scottish culture — and each other's arms — as love and a new home seem within reach. Will they be able to succeed in both missions? Or will everything fall apart?
Highlands Christmas is a delightful sweet Christmas romance that will set hearts afire. In a fairy tale as captivating as the Loch Ness monster, Melissa and Colin must cross an ocean to end up right where they belong... because home is where the heart is.

I loved this novella - definitely more if a fantasy romance than one grounded in reality. It was delightful and I wish it had been longer. I'm a huge fan of moving to a Scottish cottage romances so this was perfect - pure escapist fun!
How cute was this book! It was exactly what I needed on a hot July afternoon, where my brain was too hot to read anything that made me think too much.
I loved how fast paced the story progressed, wasting no time on too long an exposition and jumping right into the action. I’m thankful for my many years of watching Outlander that lead me to be able to pronounce all the Scottish accented dialogue and Gaelic one-liners.
This was exactly what it needed to be, which is a warm and cozy story with mild romance and heartwarming self-discovery.
Oh my gosh I tried waiting until later to read this but it was just so darn cute I couldn’t help myself! This was one of the cutest holiday books I’ve read!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a very sweet and cozy read. When everything falls apart in our heroine Melissa’s life, she leaves it all to start over in Scotland.. Will she be able to have the life she deserves or have to return to the states with her dreams broken.? There are lots of lovable side characters who join in to make her feel welcome in her town in Scotland . This is a great start to this new series.

A cute Christmas novella set in Scotland, its a charming and upbeat of Melissa who just got told her husband wants a divorce. Loved the setting and story, just wished there was more!
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC
It’s short and sweet, sets the mood for the holidays. Melissa and Colin bump into each other quite a lot, and the coincidence that their destination is the same must be the work of fate. They grow closer to each other as they spend much time together. The setting was dreamy with the snowy Scotland and I liked the community of Inverness and the traditions of its people. Sometimes the story felt a bit rushed but all in all it was fine.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of the book.
Highlands Christmas is a cute, Christmas romance. Interior Designer Melissa is looking forward to her favorite time of year, Christmas but her husband Dave spoils her festivities on Thanksgiving by announcing he wants a divorce. With a marriage imploding and a letter from Scotland announcing Melissa has inherited a property from a distant relative she decides to jet to Scotland to start a new chapter in her life and possibly a new romance with a hunky Scotsman… who is her ex-husbands lawyer?
This read will have you wanting to visit Scotland, attend the Highland Games abs have you dreaming about a man in a tartan kilt.
I wish there was more in depth details and monologue with the characters. I also wish we found out Dave’s reaction to the squirrels and what happened in the divorce.
Thanks to NetGalley and Flying Cactus for the ARC in exchange for this honest review. This was - 3.5 star review rounded up.
I received a free copy of, Highlands Christmas--Wishes Come True, by Amy Quick Parrish, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a quick easy cute read. I really enjoyed it! Melissa McKenzie life was going great, until she found out her horrible husband was a no good cheater, and wanted a divorce and the house.
Such a sweet book. I recommend it!
This book was warm and fuzzy! I love a good Christmas read and this really gave it to me with the festive descriptions. It was really fast paced and the beginning was a little bit like "woah that was pure luck" (or the magic of Christmas) but after that we go on a little Christmas adventure with some Scottish representation and a bit of romance.
After her husband tells her he's found someone else, Melissa receives correspondence stating she's inherited a property in Scotland. Perfect timing, right??
She does what any sensible wronged woman would do - she boards a plane to live in her new home. Along the way, she meets a handsome Scotsman who happens to be her soon-to-be-ex's lawyer, falls in love with the country, and meets a group of people who become a second family.
Highlands Christmas was an adorable story about a woman rediscovering herself after her husband cheats and wants a divorce. It's very Hallmark-level sweet, and you'll swoon every time Melissa and Colin interact. I loved how confident Melissa was in the foreign country, and easily Colin's family accepted her and took her in.
There's even a surprise appearance at the end!!
This book is a wonderful quick read if you're looking for a romantic fix with little to no angst.
Thank you, NetGalley and Amy Quick Parrish, for the opportunity to read it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Great short read. Melissa meets Colin when she is heading to.Scotland after the shocking announcement that her husband is divorcing her. Not everything is as it seems, and is Colin on her side of not. I would have liked more of an epilogue to see what happens next.
Super super quick Christmas novella about a woman blindsided by her husband asking for a divorce and then finding out she inherited a house in Scotland. Melissa decides to start over in Scotland and while traveling from Boston she meets her soon to be ex husband’s lawyer on the plane. Little did she know she was going to his hometown and his presence wasn’t going away.
While I enjoyed the story I really would like to see this be a full length story or even a longer novella because I wanted more background on Colin and on Melissa and how they’re connected. Everything happened so fast it was over before it even go started.
Thank you publishers and @netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
This is a short and sweet holiday romcom! Melissa and Colin are adorkable with each other right from the start; I love that there is no miscommunication as to who they are to each other and they are able to connect on an honest, if awkward, right foot. I love the 'inherits a home' micro-trope because it offers such a real/physical symbol of accepting change and moving on to better things in life. Mellisa and Colin are so sweet and have such an authentic build up to their romantic relationship. I'm happy to see both of them find their happy ending with each other.
Thank you for the ARC!!!

Meet Melissa. Her husband just filed for divorce (what a Scrooge!) but she gets a letter in the mail with some good news. It says she’s inherited a house in Scotland. She sees this as the universe handing her the perfect opportunity for a fresh start! While at the airport, she meets and connects with a man travelling home to Scotland. What she doesn’t know is this man is her future ex-husband’s divorce attorney. Will her fresh start be threatened if all comes to light?!
I really enjoyed how untypical this Christmas romance was. I’m a self-proclaimed Queen of Christmas, so I’m a tad biased, but this book was a holiday moment! A holiday romcom filled with holiday merriment, this really helped me to get in the Christmas spirit bright and early. I also admired how for a novella, you didn’t feel rushed and Parrish didn’t try to fit too much material into the story. The words spoke for themselves, which really made this a special read.

This was such a cute and quick little book to read and I read it in a matter of hours if that. A novella that will make you smile and has that ever exciting and fun setting of Christmas. Fast paced and with great characters, I loved Melissa, and felt I could have easily been in Scotland.
A fun, sweet and cosy book and one I would love to read again.
Thank you NetGalley and Flying Cactus for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
This short and sweet romance novella was exactly what I was in the mood for tonight. I liked the main character and admired her courage in moving from Boston to The Scottish Highlands as she was going through a divorce. Her romantic interest was an interesting character, too. There was even a cute Border Collie puppy in this story. I’m already looking forward to the author’s sequel.
Melissa is a American who after her cheating husband asks for a divorce, finds out she has inherited a house in Scotland. This is a short Christmas read that I enjoyed.
This was a short quick read. Melissa's husband wants a divorce, and she finds out she has inherited a house in Scotland. sweet story.
A short and sweet holiday read! Outlander fans will love this novella length tale of a woman finding a new home, and a new life, in Scotland. Adorable and feel-good, it's best enjoyed in a cozy spot under the glow of holiday lights. Looking forward to the followup from Amy Quick Parrish.
After her Thanksgiving party Melissa's husband tells her he wants a divorce and that he is keeping the house. When she receives a letter from Scottland informing her that she inherited a cottage there from a distant relative it seems like a sign. She immediately leaves for Scottland and on her journey keeps meeting Colin - her husband's divorce lawyer. Turns out he is from the exact same town her inherited cottage is. Of course they keep bumping into each other and it seems there might be something there...
I quite enjoyed reading this book. I liked Melissa's character and I felt for her but some things in the plot just felt completely unrealistic. When there is no-one at the realtor agency she just moves into the cottage, starts renovating and nobody without having more than a letter? Really? Also her divorce is final and ready to sigh before Christmas without her ever talking to a lawyer? And don't get me started on the the cottage - SPOILER ALERT - if the banks owns a house why would it be enough to prove you are distantly related to the previous owner in order to inherit it?
If you don't mind these unrealistic parts the story it is an entertaining read for the holidays.
This book was short and sweet. Very cute although it did give me a little anxiety about the ownership of the house. My mind wanted that verified immediately.
Sometimes I dream about running away and starting over in Scotland (or Ireland. Or France. Anywhere really.) and it was fun to read Melissa’s version of my dream.
Melissa Mackenzie is an interior designer who thinks everything is going great in her life until her husband asks for a divorce out of nowhere. She is shocked until she finds out he has been cheating on her and hired a divorce lawyer months earlier. She receives a letter stating she has inherited a house in Scotland, so she jumps on a plane to claim it and runs into her husband’s divorce lawyer , Colin McGregor along her travels. It ends up that Colin and Melissa keep are headed to the same town and seem to hit it off a bit. Everywhere Melissa turns in the small town, she somehow ends up finding the attractive lawyer again and again.
I loved the McGregor family and all of the Christmas details with Scottish traditions, This book was under 100 pages and felt like a novella, but at the end I wanted to hear more of the story. What happens with Colin & Melissa?
Thanks to Cactus Publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
"Highland Christmas - Wishes Come True" checks all of the boxes for a fun and memorable holiday story. It took me on a whirlwind adventure through the Scottish Highlands with a heroine that deserved some holiday magic. This story is a must read for so many reasons: well defined characters, a lovely house that needed some love, and a handsome Scottish attorney. Need I say more? Definitely a holiday story that should be made into a movie.
I really enjoyed this book and the story of Melissa and Colin. It made me feel sad o Christmassy. I just wished the story was longer, I didn’t want it to end.
This was a fun little novella; very light on the character development, but a sweet meet-cute story.
Melissa's life is unraveling over the holidays when her husband announces that he's leaving her without any warning. At the same time, she learns she has inherited a home in Scotland, so sees it as providential timing, packs her bags, and heads overseas.
Colin is a Scot, living in America and the divorce attorney representing Melissa's soon-to-be ex-husband. He's heading home for a working holiday to help out on his family's estate.
The two run into one another at the airport and the sparks fly. At first, they try to avoid one another since he's representing her ex, but the more they have forced together, the more time they want to spend together.
You'll have to read the novella to find out what happens next!
Thank you to Amy Quick Parrish, Flying Cactus, and NetGalley for an advance review copy.
This is a refreshing read that is full of hope and second chances. Enjoyable and a nice surprise to sit back and relax with.
Highlands Christmas – Wishes Come True
This is my first Amy Quick Parrish romance and I loved it! What could be better than a Highlands Romance! Adorable, slightly over-weight Melissa has a jerk for a husband who leaves her after an affair with her brother’s ex! Could it get any worse? Ms. Parrish brings our sweet Melissa and a hunk of a Scotsman. But, could it get worse? Well, yes. He could be her husband’s divorce lawyer. And, he could be from the very town in which she inherits property allowing her to get away from her schtick of a rotten to the core husband.
Just downright adorable is this romantic tale of Colin, the divorce lawyer, and Melissa, the soon to be ex-wife of a jerk. I loved that it was around the Christmas holidays to add just the right amount of charm and spirit. Add in a sweet Scottish family, an adorable puppy, a wishing well and you have all the ingredients for the perfect wish to come true!

Highlands Christmas by Amy Quick Parrish is a super cute, fairly short Christmas story. It is the story of Melissa MacKenzie, an American who just found out her no-good husband has been cheating on her and wants a divorce. Totally unexpected, but with great timing, Melissa found out she had just inherited a home in Scotland. Once in Scotland, a lot of cute things happen, along with a quite unfortunate situation. Christmas, love, and warmth can be felt throughout the story and I'm so happy this was my first holiday book of the season.
Very cozy and sweet short holiday story. Would definitely read the next one to see what happens with Melissa and Colin.
Cute story. It was a quick read. For me, a little more character development would have been appreciated. I did enjoy it.

What a sweet little jaunt across the pond to join Melissa for a Highlands Christmas! This novella follows Melissa to the snowy hills of Scotland to embark on quite the holiday adventure after her life gets turned upside down. I was immediately immersed in the story! Fun, quick holiday read!
I need this to be a Hallmark movie like immediately. This was so cute and cozy. The perfect holiday read full of Christmas magic.
If Hallmark bought the rights and made a movie of this book, I’d be there with my bowl of popcorn ready to watch! After being told her husband wants a divorce and inheriting a rundown home in Scotland, Melissa makes the decision to pack it in and move across the pond! Her unlikely friendship with her husband’s divorce attorney and the locals make this book a complete joy to read!
Thanks to Amy Quick Parrish and NetGalley for the read!
Happy to say I read this on the way to actual Scotland and it was PERFECTION. Have already bought myself and my bookclub buds each a copy!
This book was exactly what I was looking for--fun, quick & easy read, holiday romance! Melissa gets some bad news from her husband and, shortly after, gets some good news by way of a rather large inheritance! While dealing with the blows of her husband not only wanting a divorce, he also lets her know he wants their shared house, too. As luck would have it, Melissa finds out she could be inheriting a home in Scotland and makes the decision to move to Edinburgh. She's not even off American soil before she meets Colin, a Scottish attorney who just happens to be her ex-husband's attorney, but she doesn't let that stop her from finding her Scottish happily ever after. Great description of scenery and activities and loved how friendly all the people in Melissa's new hometown were to her!
One of the absolute most adorable holiday books I've ever read and enjoyed. Very heartwarming and touching to the soul.
