On pg. 23 it says "Hume Reality" instead of "Hume Realty"; on pg. 60 it says "I heard youc were in town" and should say "I heard you were in town"
There's immediate chemistry with the love interest after some opening drama, and the story reads like watching a Hallmark Christmas movie. The Scottish culture being showcased is a little on the nose, but that's to be expected with this kind of story, and the characters were definitely likeable.
There are some inconsistencies - She rents a car at the beginning and is still driving one weeks later .. is it the same car? She turns down a purchase in a store, and then is wearing the shoes she said no to later. - but they're minor and don't make a big impact on the story.
It's a super short read and the whole thing moves really fast because of that. It has exactly the storybook ending you'd expect, and leaves you will all the holiday warmth of a whirlwind Christmas romance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I received a free copy of, Highlands Christmas--Wishes Come True, by Amy Quick Parrish, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a quick easy cute read. I really enjoyed it! Melissa McKenzie life was going great, until she found out her horrible husband was a no good cheater, and wanted a divorce and the house.
Such a sweet book. I recommend it!
I do love a good easy breezy holiday novella, but this book had no real character development. It also seemed like the author piled on every Scottish stereotype (deep fried Mars Bars, really?). Plus the resolutions to Melissa's house problem was eye rolling. As was her ridiculous decision to undertake renovations (which were complete in a week or so?) without checking she actually had the deed.
But if you like your holiday stories at a Hallmark level of cheese (I don't mind Hallmark but not in a book) with insta-attraction, meddling relatives who make obvious 'nudge nudge' comments how the heroine is perfect for the hero so he'll return to his small Scottish town, then this novella is for you.
Thanks to Flying Cactus and NetGalley for the ARC.
This book was warm and fuzzy! I love a good Christmas read and this really gave it to me with the festive descriptions. It was really fast paced and the beginning was a little bit like "woah that was pure luck" (or the magic of Christmas) but after that we go on a little Christmas adventure with some Scottish representation and a bit of romance.
After her husband tells her he's found someone else, Melissa receives correspondence stating she's inherited a property in Scotland. Perfect timing, right??
She does what any sensible wronged woman would do - she boards a plane to live in her new home. Along the way, she meets a handsome Scotsman who happens to be her soon-to-be-ex's lawyer, falls in love with the country, and meets a group of people who become a second family.
Highlands Christmas was an adorable story about a woman rediscovering herself after her husband cheats and wants a divorce. It's very Hallmark-level sweet, and you'll swoon every time Melissa and Colin interact. I loved how confident Melissa was in the foreign country, and easily Colin's family accepted her and took her in.
There's even a surprise appearance at the end!!
This book is a wonderful quick read if you're looking for a romantic fix with little to no angst.
Thank you, NetGalley and Amy Quick Parrish, for the opportunity to read it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is such a short and sweet story, except for Dave the horrible husband.
This book wasted no time and just jumped through the entire plot in under 100 pages. It was a bit difficult then to get to know or care for these characters. I really liked the description and would have loved the chance to have these characters fleshed out before all the events rapidly happened.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC. All views are my own.
Thanks NetGalley and Flying Cactus for this ARC!
"Highlands Christmas - Wishes Come True" is a short and cozy story about Melissa's journey to Scotland, where she has inherited a cottage in disrepair and establishes a friendship (and maybe more) with her soon-to-be ex-husband's attorney.
This book is a feel-good quick read that readers can enjoy in one afternoon. However, the book has some unresolved plot points (Did Melissa get her divorce papers? Is Colin staying in Scotland or going back to the US?) and an anticlimactic problem resolution. I am unsure whether this ARC has been edited because it has grammatical problems. From typos to poorly formed sentences ("The driver started driving"), these issues distracted me from the story itself.
Great short read. Melissa meets Colin when she is heading to.Scotland after the shocking announcement that her husband is divorcing her. Not everything is as it seems, and is Colin on her side of not. I would have liked more of an epilogue to see what happens next.
Super super quick Christmas novella about a woman blindsided by her husband asking for a divorce and then finding out she inherited a house in Scotland. Melissa decides to start over in Scotland and while traveling from Boston she meets her soon to be ex husband’s lawyer on the plane. Little did she know she was going to his hometown and his presence wasn’t going away.
While I enjoyed the story I really would like to see this be a full length story or even a longer novella because I wanted more background on Colin and on Melissa and how they’re connected. Everything happened so fast it was over before it even go started.
Thank you publishers and @netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
This is a short and sweet holiday romcom! Melissa and Colin are adorkable with each other right from the start; I love that there is no miscommunication as to who they are to each other and they are able to connect on an honest, if awkward, right foot. I love the 'inherits a home' micro-trope because it offers such a real/physical symbol of accepting change and moving on to better things in life. Mellisa and Colin are so sweet and have such an authentic build up to their romantic relationship. I'm happy to see both of them find their happy ending with each other.
Thank you for the ARC!!!
How cute was this book! It was exactly what I needed on a hot July afternoon, where my brain was too hot to read anything that made me think too much.
I loved how fast paced the story progressed, wasting no time on too long an exposition and jumping right into the action. I’m thankful for my many years of watching Outlander that lead me to be able to pronounce all the Scottish accented dialogue and Gaelic one-liners.
This was exactly what it needed to be, which is a warm and cozy story with mild romance and heartwarming self-discovery.
I loved this novella - definitely more if a fantasy romance than one grounded in reality. It was delightful and I wish it had been longer. I'm a huge fan of moving to a Scottish cottage romances so this was perfect - pure escapist fun!
2.5 Stars
I enjoyed this novella more for the highlights of Scotland - its cultural traditions and the beauty of its landscape. The downside was a storyline that was simplistic and cliched. Additionally, the characters were one dimensional and predictable. Overall, it is a quick read that was adequate, but left me wanting more depth and meaning.
My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Oh my gosh I tried waiting until later to read this but it was just so darn cute I couldn’t help myself! This was one of the cutest holiday books I’ve read!
