I enjoyed this short story. It was pretty quick in details but I understood the storyline. I enjoyed learning about the other language in the book. Overall it was a cute and short read.

Super cute Christmas story. It was a super fun and fast read, perfect to read inbetween 2 longer books and perfect for this time of year. I loved the setting of the story.

The premise of this book sounded very intriguing, but I was very disappointed with the actually story. I really liked the Scottish setting and the Christmas vibes, but I didn’t connect with any of the characters and frankly I didn’t like most of the characters.
It also way too fast paced and it kinda felt like the authors heart wasn’t in it the most of the time.
This had the potential to be a really cute and great Christmas romance, if the author had worked a bit more on the characters and if the story was a bit longer and not so rushed.

If Hallmark bought the rights and made a movie of this book, I’d be there with my bowl of popcorn ready to watch! After being told her husband wants a divorce and inheriting a rundown home in Scotland, Melissa makes the decision to pack it in and move across the pond! Her unlikely friendship with her husband’s divorce attorney and the locals make this book a complete joy to read!

Thanks to Amy Quick Parrish and NetGalley for the read!

This cute atmospheric novella had so much potential! I loved the Scottish setting and all the cozy Christmas vibes!
I feel like it needed to be a full novel, rather than just a novella. It felt way too rushed. There were plot holes and points where it felt a bit too cheesy/unbelievable. I think with a full length novel, a lot of that could have been avoided. There were also a couple times when I couldn’t believe the FMC could be that dumb.
I think I’d give it a 2.75/5 rounded up to 3 because I was entertained enough to finish the story and I loved the setting and Christmas feels to the book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this eARC!

Highlands Christmas by new to me author Amy Quick Parrish was a cute and enjoyable story to add to my Christmas theme reading. Imagine after throwing a lavish Thanksgiving party for your spouse and a group of friends, your pig of a spouse announces that he wants a divorce because he is hooking up with your brother’s ex-girlfriend. The house you live in is in his name and he wants you out so you’re going to be homeless as well as divorced. Not a very festive beginning to the Christmas season. A letter arrives from Scotland advising you that as the last living relative of someone you’ve never met, you have inherited a home and rather than selling it, you decide to go to Scotland and see about making this house your new home.

Having a pig for a husband, one would assume that his divorce attorney is also a pig, but after meeting spontaneously in the airport, at the train station and in town, Melissa tries to maintain a professional and friendly demeanor. It’s quickly obvious that Colin is not the type of attorney or man who lacks integrity. I thought their meet cute was well played and a lot of fun to watch. Colin’s family is also wonderful and I thought it was so sweet how they welcomed Melissa into their home and invited her to participate in their holiday festivities.

My Final Verdict: I recommend this book to readers who are looking for a sweet romance with the Scottish Highlands at Christmas in the background. Sightings of the Loch Ness monster may happen, but not guaranteed.

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of Highlands Christmas from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

2.75 rounded up. Short novella. So many plot points that were ridiculously unrealistic. Felt way too rushed and not thought out all the way. Actually could have worked if had taken the time to flush it all out in a longer novel. This felt more like an outline. Rated 2.75 bc kept my interest enough to read and finish getting a pedicure.

This book read like the script for a Hallmark movie! It was a sweet story of the jilted soon to be ex wife and the shenanigans of accepting an offer of inheritance across and ocean in Scotland. The author did a wonderful job of showing the magical nature if Scotland and it felt like I was there. I look forward to the continuation of the story !

I was excited to come across this Christmas novella. The premise sounded really interesting and seemed like a great book to get me in the holiday spirit. Unfortunately, I didn’t find it to be executed well. This could have been a full length novel and really gone deeper with the characters and the background. I loved the Scottish setting, but the writing felt juvenile and major plot points had no resolution at the end.

A lovely little Christmas story, perfect short format to get you into the holiday spirit. It had all the cozy vibes and a magical setting. I did not realize when I began that it was a novella, so I wondered why it was moving so quickly and without a deep dive of the storyline. I’m dumb apparently. After I realized this, it bumped from a 3.5 to a 4. It really was the book version of a Hallmark movie. Now I’m ready to move to Scotland to have my own magical Christmas!

Thanks to Amy Quick Parish, Flying Cactus Publications and Netgalley for the ebook! It was perfect to get ready for the season!

This was an easy-read novella with Christmas cheer. I feel like there was a lot that could have been done with this story that was glossed over. I wish it had been a full novel. I am glad to see that there is a sequel coming next year, and I hope that it is a full novel.

Wasn’t my favorite. I love cheesy cute stories but this was just one after another and very predictable. I loved the idea of going overseas, the castles, the renovations but it just was too flat.

I feel terrible, I really wanted to like this story as I'm sure the author worked really hard on it. She had a good idea going, but it came across as incomplete, like there were several pieces missing. I would have loved to see the book a bit more detailed out because it is still a fun story.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher/author for allowing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is only my second romance novel ever and I really enjoyed it! I'm rating 3 stars because although it is a novella, I feel like it ended pretty abruptly and wish we could have had a little more story to wrap it up. Overall I thought it was a cute story and perfect for a cold, winter day! I will be checking out more in this genre and from this author in the future!
