A great book. So many plot twists which were great and I didn't see them coming. I like this series and can't wait for another
DEADLY CONVICTION by Robert McCracken.
Book 7 of Detective Inspector Tara Grogan.
Few tears are shed when a recently released convict is beaten to death in Liverpool city centre. The victim, Stephen Lloyd, had just finished a long prison sentence for the murder of Cambridge student, Rebecca Winters.
Despite evidence that he had made dangerous enemies in prison, DI Tara Grogan becomes convinced the answers to Lloyd's murder lie in his past conviction. Yet she’s on her own; no one on her team wants to reopen the old case.
Instead, her boss pressures her to focus on the victim’s prison associates. And after abuse by correctional officers is brought to light, it does appear to be a valid line of enquiry.
But Tara’s niggling doubts about the victim’s original conviction become overpowering. When she loses trust in her increasingly dismissive colleagues, she puts her neck on the line by going against her superiors.
With the stakes high, something will snap.
I really enjoyed this book. I did like Tara. Gripping and twisty. I'm looking forward to the next book. 5*.
Whoa! Good book! What a bunch of crazy plot twist!! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, Action, intrigue, mystery, revenge, murder, serial killer, great who done it, great plot twist, and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.
Another captivating police procedural (with a very twisted mystery at its heart) written by an extremely talented author.
Until next time, dear readers, here is another writer to add to your list of authors to watch, for those of you who enjoy police procedurals!
Although this is part of a series, it works really well as a stand alone read. Set in Liverpool, it's well written, well plotted and has excellent characterisation. DI Tara Grogan investigates the murder of a newly released prisoner and quickly realises his conviction for murder is related to a previous Chief Constable's daughter. I liked the pacing and the tension, the ending was neatly wrapped up and I would recommend the read. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
