"Everyone I Kissed Since You Got Famous" is an absolutely heartwarming, witty and charmingly entertaining romantic story that has the vibe of the rom-coms of the late 90s-early 2000s. To say I fell in love with Katie and Wil from the word go is a drastic understatement, both of these characters are complex and messy, but that’s what makes them so special. One of my least favorite tropes is miscommunication and this is the total opposite of that. The way Wil and Katie are open and communicate with each other is a breath of fresh air. They actually use their words! They don't hide things from each other and let them blow up in their faces. They don't pretend like they aren't crazy for each other from the second they reconnect. These two are it for each other from the moment they sat down on the mallard couch. Their playful banter had me laughing out loud and their inner thoughts had my toes curling. The dialog reminded me a lot of the Gilmore Girls, where there were a lot of inside jokes and pop references. They are open and honest and that makes them so much more interesting. The chemistry between Katie and Wil was palpable. I could feel the yearning from each of them so intensely. The slow burn to their first kiss was worth every second of waiting. While the author doesn't get too graphic, the spice is there and so well written. Thanks to Mae Marvel, Netgalley and St. Martin Press for an e-arc in exchange for my thoughts. This would make such a great rom-com adaptation for either streaming or the movies. This is my first read of a Mae Marvel (pseudonym of two authors) book and I really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to read what Mae Marvel writes next!

This was a sweet story of a second chance at love. More than that, it was a journey of empowerment for both of the women. My only complaint was the story felt a little long at times.

I think there was just something with the writing style that I didn't jive with for some reason. It came to me really highly anticipated, but just didn't click for me.

Overall, this book was good, but probably not one I'll think much about ever again. Things with Katie and Wil kicked off pretty quickly, so I never felt like there was much tension there, which I like in my romance. The chapters and scenes also all felt way too long, so I found myself getting bored throughout a lot of this book.

I did like the whole "one of them is super famous" trope, and Wil's TikTok was interesting. I know some of it was due to both characters being stuck in their lives, but a lot of the time these characters felt more like they should be in their early twenties rather than the thirties.

I'm assuming the authors are huge Busy Phillips fans or something, but those ending chapters were just weird to me, having a real person in them. Also, no one's having a talk show on Christmas Eve.

"Everyone I Kissed Since You Got Famous" by Mae Marvel is a refreshing take on second chance and friends-to-lovers romance. The story follows Katie Price and Wil Greene, who shared a magical summer during their senior year of high school before life pulled them apart. Ten years later, Katie, now a movie star, and Wil, still grounded and authentic, reconnect, reigniting unresolved emotions and nostalgia.
This novel stands out for its unique approach to familiar romance themes, avoiding many somewhat overused tropes. The characters are well-developed and so relatable. The rekindled friendship between Katie and Wil raises questions about their true feelings, and their chemistry is palpable, enhanced by witty banter and heartwarming moments.

Mae Marvel excels in character description, making their actions and decisions feel natural and believable. Wil, in particular, is a standout character and had me swooning. Katie's journey as an inexperienced bisexual woman adds depth to the story, making their dynamic both relatable and endearing.
Highly recommended for fans of the genre seeking humor, romance, and nostalgia.

It's been over a decade since Katie Price and Wil Green spent nearly every second of their senior year together. It's been over a decade since the two girls went from casually acquaintances to best friends to nothing. Katie left to become an actress and Wil went to college. Katie spent years in a horrible relationship and then recovering and finding who she wanted to be without her ex's influence. Wil buried her father and moved home to be with her mom while they figured out their world without him. But now the two have a second chance, an opportunity to pick up and figure out who they are and who they want to be. As both Katie and Wil navigate building their dreams, the two realize that they were more than just friends that last year of high school and they would like to be that again.

This book focused so kindly on the chance to keep trying and keep building yourself. There is no judgement at the pauses and recovery that both women go through to find who they want to be and more over how they want other people to view them. The whole story is build on the possibility of finding different paths forward even after years. It was a sweet second chance story without all the baggage of an intentional breakup that came before for the characters. However, I found the parts of the book that worked best for me were the more ensemble moments and I wish that Wil had a more clear social life to see more of that ensemble cast.

I loved Katie and Wil. I think everyone could find something in the both of them they will love.

From one magical summer to never seeing each other for 13 years and reconnecting like no time has gone by.

The banter, the sweetness and the moms! Grab a copy of this book!

Solid 4 stars! A great "we meet again" romance that has a lot of nuanced topics from health issues, loss, toxic exes, first loves, and more. Love the writing, the pace, and the characters. I haven't been invested in a "Wil they or won't they" in a long time. It's so rare to read a romance that writes about people communicating their needs in a healthy, clear, and productive manner... I mean healthy intimacy goals for the win!

The other harder-hitting topics were well-written in ways that tug at the reader's heart and also without the campy dramatic flair that sometimes pushes certain topics into an unrealistic zone. The romance between Wil and Katie was fantastic from go and the spice was a delightful bonus. I will definitely be reading more from the author.

I enjoyed this read for the most part, it felt a little sped up in places as far as the timeline of their emotions went. I also had trouble understanding the difference between April and Madelyn’s jobs until we met them more towards the end.

A fun and steamy sapphic rom-com with two larger-than-life characters. Wil is a TikTok sensation for her biweekly kissing videos. Katie is a famous actress still trying to outrun a bad relationship at the start of her career. The two women were best friends in high school, but (weirdly) lost touch completely, despite their mothers being best friends. When Katie comes home to Green Bay for the holidays and to work on a new project, she and Wil finally meet up again and pick up right where they left off with lots of big feelings and sexual tension. The book alternates chapters from each of their POVs. These women were both kick-ass, well-drawn characters who felt very real and completely fictional at the same time, if that makes any sense. The two-person writing team of Mae Marvel did a good job with both light and heavy moments. Fans of Casey McQuiston and Meryl Wilsner should enjoy this one. Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and St. Martin's Griffin for a digital review copy.

This was a super good book! My only complaint at all was it felt too smart for me 😂 These writers have an insanely wide vocabulary and I had to look up over 5 words. I typically don’t expect that from a lighthearted romance. This isn’t a book you can fly through, you have to pay attention.

All of that said, I loved the story and fell in love with Katie and Wil. Their journey was so fun (and steamy). Definitely a sapphic romance that you don’t want to miss!

This was a great book. I connected with the characters. I felt engrossed with the plot. I would read another book by this author.

A sapphic romance set in my state?? It’s a big yes please from me! However, no matter how much I wanted to love it, it turned out to be just okay.

Reading this book felt like riding in a manual car with somebody who doesn’t know how to drive stick. Just as it started to get going, things seemed to suddenly jerk around while changing gears, not smoothly at all - sometimes stalling out entirely while in the middle of a roundabout. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about either of the main characters or even the main storyline. It was just the writing was so jerky that I struggled to get invested. I’m not sure if this was due to the dual authorship or poor editing, but I was disappointed because I really loved the messaging and the overall plot of the book. I also think the book could’ve been significantly shorter, as the internal monologues were repetitive.

Overall, I’m disappointed this didn’t live up to what I was hoping for BUT I do love that this book was about female empowerment, it takes place in Green Bay, it’s sapphic, and there really are a lot of super fun and cute scenes!

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest rating and review.

I usually lean more toward thrillers and murder mystery novels, but the blurb and cover for this one caught my eye. It was a cute will they or won’t they romance. The two main characters Wil and Katie are high school besties who haven’t interacted in years, and once they come back face to face they realize they both loved one another back in the day, and must figure out how to move forward. Both have experienced fame and being in the public eye, but have to navigate the experience together now.

I liked that Tik Tok was a heavily featured piece of Wil’s fame, because it tied it nearly into current events for me. I also really liked how sweet and slow the romance went, without an overly sexual tone.

This story was charming, light hearted and romantic. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

This book was deeper than I thought it was going to be. I enjoyed the story and loved seeing Katie and Wils story play out.

This sits in a weird place between the premise, cover, and marketing wanting it to be a romcom, but the actual text wanting to be litfic, and the two not matching up at all. There are parts of it that were really lovely, but it just kept getting trapped between not quite sticking to a genre. This wouldn't be a problem if the two things it were trying to be weren't such a tonal shift - the comedy beats of a romcom don't quite match up with the slow moments to sit with what it means to know someone, and the constant switching left me entirely unsure of how to feel in regards to the story or the characters. Add to that that the characters are supposed to be in their 30s, but feel and talk like their high school days were 5 years behind them, rather than 13. There's also a weird balance on the slow-burn nature of their relationship - they both know they need to get their lives and decisions settled before they jump into a relationship, but they're also talking about their masturbation habits within their first conversation reunited after 13 years. So that immediately destroys any tension about the "will-they-or-won't-they", but they also don't talk about it, so it just doesn't go anywhere.

The last act of the book also feels like a tonal shift, which I guess is par for everything else that's been set up so far. It's a shame, because I really wanted to like this.

4.25 stars

I actually read this book at the same time as another book with a very similar plot and I think seeing how similar yet drastically different the two were made me enjoy them both more. Also what’s hotter than a girl with an old bronco?

I really loved how well the characters communicated and worked together, it was all very believable and also probably so open and honest because it was two women. At times it almost felt too easy though? The conflict was almost non-existent and while I believe relationships can be that way, I felt it isn’t the best for a book. Still loved it but I think had the conflict been just a smidge heavier, it would’ve made this 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

Slow burn romance with a slower finish. The characters were well developed and it has a celeb trope that I personally love but overall I felt like the story could have been summed up much quicker and found myself taking awhile to finish this one.

Everyone I Kissed Since You Got Famous has a really unique, interesting premise that initially gave me high hopes for this book. While I generally enjoyed it, it unfortunately didn't measure up to my expectations and fell a bit flat.

Katie Price, an A-list actress/director/screenwriter, and Wil Greene, a TikTok star known for kissing strangers, haven't seen each other since their year-long, intense friendship 10 years ago. When Katie comes back home to write her first big-picture script, she and Wil reconnect their friendship - which may be a bit more than just that - and work together to tackle the big life decisions that have been scaring them.

Katie and Wil had an effortless relationship that I loved following over the course of the book, and I appreciated that the conflict wasn't whether or not they loved each other, but whether their very different lives could work together. Marvel did a great job at showing their chemistry and ease with each other, and I felt invested in their relationship. However, the plot itself left something to be desired. There was so much talking about what Katie and Wil wanted to do - write an amazing script, go to law school, face their fears - but not a lot of actually doing things. The whole book felt like a slow burn focused on their careers, where the actual relationship "conflict" didn't come into play until the end - and it was such a minor conflict, there was never any question that things would end up fine.

I liked this enough to finish it but overall found it to be slow and ambling, wishing more would happen earlier on to keep things moving.

If slow burn romances are your thing, pick this book up. You won't put it down until it's finished. Loved this book. Well done.
