A good picture book that seems to help kids understand money a little better. And it's told with pictures.
This was such a great read to show the REAL money and not just swiping a credit/debt card. I loved everything about it and cannot wait to really dive into this with my son and class. Not only does this story touch on what money is, but also how to EARN the money, and then save and/or spend it. Wonderful real life things!!
And when they talk about throwing money/coins into a fountain: I laughed. Real life child answer with wishing for ice cream!!
This was another wonderful Wimee book for me!!
This picture book teaches the basic concept of currency. It might be most useful for children age 4 or 5, as it is very basic. It would probably be most appreciated by children who enjoy the PBS show. Parents who wish to teach their children that money isn't magic and you have to do something to get it might find it useful.
Thank you NetGalley for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
I thought it was cute how the robot learns about money, what it is, how it looks, what it is for. A difficult concept was nicely presented for young readers.
I received an electronic ARC from Zonderkidz through NetGalley.
Wimee gets a birthday present from his grandmother and doesn't know what the green pieces of paper are. He seeks out his friends, Moby and Siblee, to see if they can help him. Readers journey along as they, along with another friend, Sylvia, learn from Mr. Bill. I appreciate the author teaching about saving, spending and giving for a balanced approach to money management. She shares the information at a level younger readers will understand. They learn about earning money, spending money, saving some and saving some to give. The characters are familiar to those who watch Wimee's Words but readers will connect to them as as stand alone book as well. The artwork is brightly colored and pulls readers in to learn more.
Wimee received a gift card with money. Now what does he do with it? Wimee in his story is teaching about how you can earn money by working or receiving it as gift and or investing in where you can make more. Also on how to spend it. It also teaches about giving and saving money too. A great resource to talk about money with your children and how to think about money.
<i>A special thank you to Zonderkidz and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
This is a great educational tool to aid in teaching children about money .
Based on the PBS series Wimee ‘s World , Wimee receives a paper gift from his grandmother but does not know what it is . So Wimee and friends learn from their neighbor what money is and how to earn it.
The guide in the back in the book is also a great teaching tool for teachers and parents alike .
I just reviewed Wimee Learns About Money by Stephanie Kammeraad. #WimeeLearnsAboutMoney #NetGalley
Great educational book for younger children to help them learn about money. Earning money, investing money and what to spend it on.
Thank you to NetGalley, the authors, and the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for my honest review.
I am not familiar with the show that these characters are based on, with that being said, it didn't inhibit my ability to know what was going on in the story. This book teaching children about money, its' worth, how to get it and what it's used for. This is perfect for smaller children to teach them the fundamentals. I enjoyed the more in depth information that came after the story line about each coin and dollar amounts. This is definitely a book I will get for my children to help them with this concept. The illustrations were amazing and full of vivid color! Highly recommend!
Wimee Learns About Money is about a robot who receives money and wants to find out its purpose. After finding out, he and his friends decide to work together to make money to buy themselves something nice. This book is a nice gentle introduction to finance for children. Although I did find Mr. Bill's name a tad bit cringe and too obvious. Otherwise, it was a very easy to follow story.
Wimee Learns about Money is Finance 101 for kids! I absolutely love this! Wimee gets some money from his grandmother for a special occasion. He goes on a quest to understand what these strange green papers are, and he learns all about bills and coins. He learns that you can earn money or receive it as a gift. He also learns that he can spend it, save it, or give it. I really appreciate that saving and giving are included in this little primer for kids. These are important concepts that are often overlooked in personal finance!
The illustrations in this book are fun, and the message is so important for our kids. Start teaching responsible money management from a young age! So much fun!
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this advanced review copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review on the book!
