Great great book. More for older middle school
Kids I think. My 5 year old enjoyed learning and me reading it to them.

This fairytale book was interesting to read as it contained many stories from many nations around the world—around the winter season theme— really great way to expose your children to other cultures! .
The illustrations are nice and have a traditional old fashioned feel to them. The stories teach lessons including but not limited to those of morality, kindness, and generosity. There are stories of varying length and you can pick and choose a story based on your child’s age and focus level great for children age 4-9 . As it can appeal to children of many ages this book could be a great resource for educators and parents alike. A classic book for any families home library ! This is definitely a book I will be adding to my collection -- Recommended !

Our family has enjoyed reading through A Year Full of Stories, also by Angela McAllister, the past few years so I was excited to preview this collection. It did not disappoint! A Year Full of Winter Stories is another charming and diverse collection of folktales that is sure to enchant and a wonderful way to introduce children (and adults!) to traditional stories and legends from around the world.

I absolute loved A World Full of Winter Stories, winter time has always had a warm and cosy place in my heart and this book is a perfect pairing with hot cocoa. I love how each story shows their different origins. The stories are so beautiful and each story has beautiful illustrations. This is the perfect book to read every year during the winter and perfect for any age, young and old. I loved A World Full of Winter Stories and will absolutely come back to this book over and over again each holiday season or whenever I just need a cosy read that feels like a warm hug.

This is such a lovely book full of stories from around the globe that revolve around the winter season. Its stories include quests, stories of ice, stories of animals, tall tales and even fables. Perfect for reading on a winter’s night! The illustrations are stunning and capture the heart of each tale. Our family cannot wait to add this to our home library!

Given how many feral rabbits have been hanging out in my neighborhood, I had to chuckle when the very first story, from Japan, was how rabbits came to be. Then there was the Siberian story of how a snoopy rabbit/hare got long ears. Somehow, my "rabbit alert dog" wasn't impressed but I was. These stories are delightful, colorfully illustrated and many seemed to focus on the concept of "we are better together".

Separated into sections, this is one of the first cold weather related collections I've read that didn't focus almost entirely on the Christmas or holiday season. But, don't worry. The closing chapter contains several Christmas focused stories. All are traditional stories from various cultures, wonderfully, imaginatively illustrated, and can be easily read to a child in one sitting. You may feel ready to curl up in a mitten, like the creatures of the Ukrainian tale, as you read, however. Fun book.

This is such a wonderful collection of folktales from around the world. I was so excited to see several stories I grew up with and can pass on to my own children now.

Each story tells you where it originated and are categorized by theme.

The illustrations are absolutely beautiful. I love to style of art they used and how beautifully unique to each story they are.

I really enjoyed the illustrations in this book. So much so, I would have loved to see more! I think this book would have benefited from more illustrations and less verse. The longer stories make is harder to target a certain audience.

A lot of these stories lost interest for my seven year old daughter. Although I enjoyed most, I don't think I would have picked this up for myself.

The biggest critique I have is the lack of diversity in the stories. It says stories around the world but there was only one story from Jamaica. None from Africa or Belize ... It was really lacking representation of black culture.

This is a lovely collection of stories from around the world, beautifully illustrated and the perfect length to read together with young children. Separated into sections on Birds and Beasts, Tricks and Troubles, Ice and Snow, Quests and Journeys, Spirits and Magic, and Christmas, these are all traditional tales retold with colourful and interesting images. A lovely book to share with kids throughout the winter months.I

Asia, Caribbean, North America, and South America, this book had enjoyable stories from all over the world. I rally wish they had one from Ireland, though they had stories from England, Wales, and Scotland, which is close. A great book for the family to read to by a cozy fire,

If you are familiar with Angela McAllister’s work then you already know it’s top notch. We have been a fan of all her other volumes. It’s so nice to see a collection of winter stories that aren’t all holiday themed. This is the perfect book for dark and long January nights to share with your child. My 11 year old daughter also liked reading it on her own.

A wonderful book filled with stories from different cultures around the world. This book was a joy to read and the illustrations were beautiful and captivating. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

The kids and I previewed A World Full of Winter Stories by this week. This beautiful book is filled with winter stories, folktales and legends from places like Kazakhstan, Scotland, Germany, Denmark, and several from North American tribes, such as the Ojibwa and the Iroquois. It’s quite an eclectic assortment of stories, including a few Christmas tales.

The illustrations by @olgabaumart are sweet and colorful, and the stories are quick, fun reads.

You may have noticed A Stage Full of Shakespeare Stories in our lineup for this year. This series of children’s anthologies are such treasures. Wouldn’t this one be a sweet Christmas present for a family, or a cozy read aloud on cold winter nights?

Amazing tales from all around the globe with beginner friendly writing flanked with gorgeous illustrations!

Get yourself ready to be star struck starting from the first story all the way from Japan! I would say most of the stories are limited to only a few countries as they are based on specific themes like “Ice and Snow”. However, you will be amazed and will love the entire book as I do!

I love this collection of stories. If a book can emit ambiance this is one that does. All I want to do is curl up by the fire with cozy socks and a hot drink and flip through these stories from around the globe and admire the beautiful illustrations.

Absolutely delightful! A wonderful collection of folk tales from all over the world. Simple enough for children to enjoy but substantial enough for an adult to peruse. The illustrations are absolutely lovely and create a cozy, whimsical experience. A magical Christmas gift for anyone in your life!
