Kendall works the night shift at the campus library, where she can spend hours reading her romance novels without being interrupted. Until one night, king of campus and star of the basketball team, comes to the front desk and asks her for reading recommendations. Before calling her a coward for reading romance instead of living it, and pinning her to the bookshelves in a very secluded part of the library...
This is an opposites attract, sports, instalust/love, college romance filled with amazing banter that had me laughing out loud more than once. Vincent had me swooning! I would've loved an alternance in POVs and see his. But the miscommunications and assumptions keep on piling up... Kendall kept on pushing that she hated miscommunication and yet at times, she would just spiral into her overthinking and not talk about what happened with Vincent. HER overthinking really got into her own way most of the times, her assumptions got annoying along the way. Even if I liked how she kept comparing their situations to different romance book tropes, sometimes it was out of place and wrong, and I loved that her best friend called her out on it. Overall, I really enjoyed myself! The spice was really well done and lasted for pages and pages. And again, Vincent had me giggling and kicking my feet.

Night Shift by Annie Crow was the absolute best college contemporary romance I do believe I’ve read in some time.
This was definitely one of those that was incredibly hard to put down.
And when it was down it was all I kept thinking about.
I wanted nothing more than to sit and devour this story.
The story moved amazingly with good detail to the surroundings and characters.
Such an enjoyable read with the absolute best writing.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Wattpad Books for the opportunity to read this ahead of its publication date in return for my honest review.

This book was so freakin cute! I loved every second of reading it.

Kendall and Vincent were perfect for each other. I loved watching their relationship grow and their banter was adorable. Kendall was such a relatable character. She’s a hardcore bookworm as most of us are. She also struggles with worrying about what people think about her which sadly I think a lot of us do as well. Vincent.. oh sweet freakin cinnamon roll Vincent. I’m in love with him. He’s just so damn adorable you just wanna grab his cheeks and kiss them.

If you love libraries, smut and a cute and quick read then I highly recommend picking this one up. I promise you’ll be in for a treat!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Wattpad for the e-arc!

Absolutely loved this one! A bookworm and basketball player???? YES PLS. And the spice was SPICIN.
College sports romances are my favorite genre and this checked off everything on the list that I love about them, and more.

This was adorable, but it felt really rushed. There was something missing for me. The characters felt one dimensional. I felt like I didn’t connect with the characters. It’s still a very cute book and I’m sure other readers will love it, but it just wasn’t for me personally.

I was so excited for this book based on tropes alone, but it ended up being an average read. I didn’t love it nor did I hate it. I rarely ever say this, but I think I would have liked it better if it were a clean romance. Normally I love smut ,but the scenes here felt so awkward I skimmed through most of them (I think it was too much humor for my liking) Also the miscommunications/assuming drove me absolutely mad.

3.5/5 stars

I really enjoyed the idea of this. I love smart, sweet, less experienced fmc’s with dumb jocks, I just do, and I did enjoy the baseline of this story.
Where it lost me was the miscommunication of it all. I think I’ve just read enough college romances with this trope that do it in ways I enjoy better than this one did. I also feel like the relationship between Kendall and Vincent didn’t progress much, if at all.
I found Kendall really relatable and that made me enjoy this book even though it wasn’t my favorite.

✨2 stars✨

This book was simply okay. I was really excited based off of the premise of the novel, but it felt very underwhelming and lackluster. Neither of the characters had much personality outside of Kendall being “not like other girls.” Crown tries to poke fun at this trope and be self aware, but ultimately just serves the trope instead. There is constant poking fun at tropes in a way that i think the author meant to be silly and self-aware, but it never did anything else besides *be* that trope, and not in a way that was even well done. For instance, Kendall’s friend teases her that she always says she hates the miscommunication trope so she should just talk to Vincent, but Kendall instead doesn’t listen and the miscommunication continues for the rest of the novel over and over. There also wasn’t anything in terms of plot outside of getting the main characters together going on.

I’m all for unbelievable romcom plots, but both characters are essentially in love with each other after having 2 very poor interactions. I was hoping there would be more tension built with them interacting during Kendall’s night shift at the library, but it never happened. I think the foundation is there, but it needed some heavy work to make it more interesting for the reader.

I have so many thoughts about this book and they are all hateful.

I'm going to start with the worst offense this book made (to me) and its the use as "whore best friend". They use the phrase "Whore best friend" on MULTIPLE OCCASIONS and the "whore best friend" is non other but the only black latine character. Going to leave that there, do with that information whatever you want.

Secondly, I hate the way the FMC believes her life is a book and thinks things like real life "pregnancy" as a trope or talk about her friends as "miscommunication" trope, which in fact they hate the miscommunication trope and these fuckers had like 3 miscommunication situations happening.

Third, can we talk about how FMC has only kissed people under the influence of alcohol and MMC has only had sex while under the influence of alcohol. so find gross.

Fourth and last of my rant, this is a romance book that judges romance books with shirtless men in the cover. Talks about the genre as it not being deep and just makes me wonder how much self hatred this author has.

Thank you NetGalley for the e-arc version of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I'm officially an Annie Crown fangirl! I really didn't know what to expect going into it, but it was so so good! Spicy, fast-paced, and heartfelt. Can't wait for this author's next book.

This was a cute, fast-paced novel that I did enjoy overall. I liked all the different characters that the author had included in the novel - both main and side characters. I found the characters to be relateable - especially Kendall. However, because it was fast-paced I felt like I only really got to understand the characters on the surface level rather than getting to really know them. All we really know is that Kendall is an avid booklover and romance reader and that Vincent is the captain of the basketball team. It also felt like, because of how quick and fast-paced it was, the characters fell for each other without really knowing each other. I also do wish that we got to see more of Kendall and Vincent’s relationship after they got together. I’m not saying this was a bad novel by any means - I did read it in one sitting - but I do think improvements could’ve been made to make it better. If you’re looking for a quick read, this is one I would recommend.

Thank you netgalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for allowing me to read this book. Wattpad got me into reading when I was younger and I loved that this book brought me back to those days! This was such a quick easy read! I know it’s not a popular opinion but I actually like the miscommunication trope when it’s done well which I thought this author did a good job at. I absolutely loved the side characters in this book and Vincent was a dream! I wasn’t the biggest fan of Kendall at times but she grew on me. I really hope the author continues and does a spin off of where some of the friends find love!

I was so excited to read a book previously written on Wattpad because I grew up on it. This book exceeded expectations. It was funny, sweet, and spicy. The main characters were loveable and relatable.

really torn about this because the first half was sooOoOO good, truly everything I love about wattpad novels (even if I can see how the miscommunication trope and typical female MC can be annoying for some readers, even if it's addressed)

but the second half???? was so?? useless??? and don't get me started on the CRINGIEST most awkward (but very realistic) sex scene I've ever read (and I've suffered through many worst written romance books)

overall I'd still recommend it just for the butterflies the first half gives. Vincent was really hot

Kendall Holiday lives for the kind of love she finds her in books. When a chance meeting between her and Vincent Knight, the star of the basketball team, ends up with a steamy makeout session, Kendall wonders if she can't be her own main character for once.

This book was a perfect meet cute, romance trope heavy, steamy delight in 300 pages or so. I loved every character and seeing another librarian who loves to read romance is always a plus for me. The pacing was perfect, hitting the right amount of time between each moment between Kendall and Vincent.

Although this is very insta-lovey and I tend not to like that, I loved this book. Kendall and Vincent's characters really suited each other. Kendall is really relatable because she's a bookworm and critical of herself, she works in a library also. Vincent was adorable.

This was a great book but I wish that we knew the characters more. Yes, we know some of their hobbies and yeah Kendall doubts herself, worries a lot etc. but I wish there was more! Yes, there was the basketball stuff but that's about it sadly. Which is why I've rated this a 4 star, still really good just wish there was more depth and more about the characters.
What a great Wattpad book though. Such a funny and lovely read! Will be reading more of Annie's work.

This was just okay for me. The storyline was a very juvenile love story. Virginal shy hot girl meets outwardly grumpy but actually sweet jock. I’m glad I didn’t fail to finish, but I’m not sure I’d be jumping to recommend this one.

Thank you to NetGalley and Annie Crown for the chance to read this ARC.

I loved the self awareness in this book! This book made me chuckle and I really enjoyed it, yes, it's spicy af but, it was also a super sweet romance. I wasn't the biggest fan of the first interaction between the MCs, it felt like it went way too fast to be real. Overall, a cute, light, smutty, fun romance read.

Thank you NetGalley and W by Wattpad Books for the ARC!

It’s okay! Super cute story but SUPER rushed at the beginning. There’s really no build in chemistry between the leads, but they’re cute together nonetheless. There’s also a LOT of indecision that kinda bugged me.
