When I see a Watt Pad book im almost always skeptical but down at the same time. This book was so cute and honestly very wholesome. I really liked the fact that it was short and sweet and didn't sugar coat some important topics. I would definitely recommend this to a friend!

✨ 3 STARS ✨

this is a wattpad story which explains a lot. i love the cover. and while i found the characters slightly annoying at first, they have cute developments and end up being pretty adorable.

kendall is a bookworm girly who works night shift at the library. one random friday night, the star basketball player shows up needing help with poetry homework. & INSTA LOVE (they make-out as soon as they meet lmao)

super short chapters and a very quick little read. it flows pretty quick which i feel can be hit or miss depending how you look at it. super heavy on the miscommunication grope BUT i did not hate it in their story. also the entire ending of the book is basically them just having sex lol.

i loved kendall’s friendship with harper and nina, they have a cutesy roommate dynamic. & vincent and jabari and adorable little basketball bros too. i enjoyed the process of kendall realizing she was actually not a character in a book (what a twist right, since that’s exactly what she is) & the unraveling of the popular basketball star actually being a shy, reserved cutie patootie who learns poetry for a girl he likes. i also thought the idea of a FMC wanting to make the grand gesture was super cute even though vincent was clearly the better character.

Reserved bookworm, Kendall, strikes up an unexpected romance with basketball star, Vincent. They say opposites attract, but are Kendall and Vincent’s lives TOO different to make it work??

This was such a quick, easy read!! The author kept me hooked and engaged throughout the entire story. There was plenty of drama and spice! 🌶️ Although the main plot was fairly predictable, there were a few turns that kept the drama flowing. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a slightly spicy, fast paced romance! 😍🤗

Thank you so much @netgalley , @wbywattpadbooks , and @anniecrownwrites for the eArc of this book! I enjoyed it and can’t wait to see what Annie Crown writes next!

This was a cute, fun, quick read that brought me right back to college. If only I'd been working in the library and met a cute guy though. This book, however, made it feel like it was my reality!

Kendall is happy with her quiet, bookish college existence. She spends her Friday nights in the library and her idea of partying is wine nights at home with her two roommates. Then the star basketball player, Vincent Knight, asks for help finding a book one Friday night. An avid romance reader, Kendall finds herself dissecting every advance and guarding herself from the tropes she knows and loves so well in the fictional world, Afraid of becoming his next challenge, she tries to stay away. But what if there actually is more to the star college athlete than meets the eye? Will she miss her chance at becoming the main character?

I loved this book! I devoured it in only a few sittings and wish there was more to read. The story line was paced very well and the characters were easy to love!

This book was good however I feel the hype on tiktok made me expect more. So I've knocked a star off due to that.

The cutest sports romance I have read all year.

Kendall has been avoiding life while in college. Her Friday nights are filled with romance novels and working the night shift at the library. That is until the star basketball player Vincent walks into the library one Friday night looking for a poetry book. Communication may not be their strongest suit but they most certainly have chemistry. She helps tutor him in poetry and he helps her live her life outside of a romance novel.

Why I loved this book:
~bookworm
~single pov
~One Tree Hill vibes
~Grumpy x Sunshine
~Sports Romance
~College Romance
~Poetry bonds them

Thank you so much Annie Crown and NetGalley for the opportunity to arc-read this book in exchange for an honest review.

4/5 stars. Thank you Netgalley for sending me this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

The Night Shift was an absolutely adorable book! I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I related to the main character, Kendall, so much as she is a bookworm who loves romance novels. I really enjoyed her banter with Vincent. There was some miscommunication, but the characters actually talked through their issues!! I do wish the characters had been fleshed out a little more as we don't get a lot of time to fully understand them and their core. It was slightly insta-lovey, but I actually didn't mind this! There was also no third-act breakup (THANK GOODNESS!). All in all, this was a super cute novel with tons of fun and spice!

Thank you NetGallery for the eARC of Night Shift in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked Kendall and Vincent’s Characters, I felt like the were a good match and complimented each other. It was a bit too insta love for my preferences. Vincent despite seeming slightly intimidating at the start ended up being a total golden retriever.

It would of been nice to get a bit more character development into the couple and side characters earlier on in the books.

Despite the insta love their relationship did seem cute and the book showed the importance of clear communication and not jumping to conclusions. Once they worked through their issues it did seem like a nice healthy relationship.

Overall it was a cute and easy read

This was book was alright. It felt like a combo of like typical romance tropes but not too much plot. I enjoyed Vincent & Kendall’s banter and vibes, but the constant miscommunication bothered me, especially because she pointed out that they were clearly having miscommunication.

The broody basketball player that never had a girlfriend and was a total sweetheart who would literally read poetry for a girl and made out with the library worker on the first meet just felt a little too forced for my liking, but could definitely see why people would be into that vibe.

Thank you for the ARC! All thoughts and opinions were my own.

This book was just okay for me. It’s a very quick read with little to no character development. There is a bit of spice- but nothing crazy. I probably wouldn’t read this again.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Night Shift was a really fun New Adult Romance! It had been a minute since I'd read something with college-aged main characters, and I appreciated the change of pace. I thought Kendall and Vincent were super cute and made sense as a couple, I just felt like their timing was really rushed, especially since they spent so much time apart. All in all, this was a fun, lighthearted, somewhat steamy read. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

This story was INCREDIBLY CUTE. While I don't normally enjoy reading an insta-love trope, this one definitely felt like one, I loved this!

For one, Kendall is incredibly relatable in both her strengths and her flaws. Her ability to get so wrapped up in what she reads, to the point where she thinks of her life in tropes and scenarios from books - THAT'S ME. I absolutely loved reading about her - she and I share similar habits, insecurities, and bits of social anxiety. I appreciated reading about a character so much like me, not only did it immerse me in the story, it forced me to think about my personal habits and how they can be negative. Vincent is an ultimate cinnamon roll, he's incredibly sweet right off the bat and I loved their chemistry. Vincent's ability to so clearly communicate and ask Kendall what she wants, what she needs from him at all times was so refreshing to read, and it only made him more swoon worthy. Their meet cute was so entertaining and seeing their relationship grow after that event was so fun to read.

I loved this story! I saw people complaining it was very Wattpad like, but honestly who cares! The characters are relatable and cute and realistic - this was such a good read, I couldn't put it down! It's fun and cute and CHEESY in the best ways. It's such a light read if you just want something sweet, entertaining and in a college setting.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Annie Crown for the eARC in exchange for an honest review! I hope that others enjoy this story and can see themselves in the main character too.

Unsure how to feel about this one. It was cute and charming. I did love the characters and their romance but...there was too much fluff for me.
It felt unnecessarily long for no reason, it was very cringe-y, and I didn't like the insta love...

2.5 - 3 stars

Personally, I think this book would have been better staying on WattPad instead of being published.

This paraded as a smart, feminist, clever, self-aware book, while in reality, it was shockingly offensive, misogynistic, gross, repetitive, unimaginative, and offensive to lovers of rom-coms everywhere. A stronger edit and some common sense could have helped.

I give this review honestly and thank NetGalley for the ARC. I am glad I did not purchase this book.

Night Shift follows Kendall who spends her Friday nights working at the campus library reading spicy romance books. One night everything changes when the star basketball player Vincent shows up at the library. They both hit it off with each other. And soon everything Kendall has read in her romance novels is starting to come true.

This book was so cute. I LOVED it. I will say I felt like this book was a little too short. Like I really wanted it to be longer. I loved the relationship between Kendall and Vincent. They were so cute and perfect for each other. This was one of the best romance books I have read in a long time. I can’t wait to read more books by this author. I really did love this one.

Thank you so much Wattpad books for sending me this to read.

Night Shift by Annie Crown is a refreshing romantic novel that will keep you hooked from the beginning till the end. The story revolves around Kendall Holiday, who loves nothing more than spending her Friday nights reading romance novels in the college library. The solitude of the library is a perfect escape for her from the hustle and bustle of the real world.

One day, Vincent Knight, a popular basketball player of the college, enters the library, looking for help with his assignment. Kendall, who is lost in her book, is initially annoyed by his presence, but as they start talking, she realizes that he is not as bad as she thought he would be. A steamy make-out session follows, and they both are surprised by the intensity of their connection.

However, as they start to spend more time together, they realize that they are very different from each other. While Kendall is content with her simple life, Vincent is ambitious and wants to achieve great things. As they navigate their differences, they discover that it takes a lot more than just physical attraction to make a relationship work.

Overall, Night Shift is a delightful read that will make you laugh, cry, and fall in love with the characters. Annie Crown has done an excellent job of creating a story that is both entertaining and thought-provoking. If you are a fan of romance novels, Night Shift is a must-read for you.
