Unsure how to feel about this one. It was cute and charming. I did love the characters and their romance but...there was too much fluff for me.
It felt unnecessarily long for no reason, it was very cringe-y, and I didn't like the insta love...
2.5 - 3 stars

Personally, I think this book would have been better staying on WattPad instead of being published.
This paraded as a smart, feminist, clever, self-aware book, while in reality, it was shockingly offensive, misogynistic, gross, repetitive, unimaginative, and offensive to lovers of rom-coms everywhere. A stronger edit and some common sense could have helped.
I give this review honestly and thank NetGalley for the ARC. I am glad I did not purchase this book.

Night Shift follows Kendall who spends her Friday nights working at the campus library reading spicy romance books. One night everything changes when the star basketball player Vincent shows up at the library. They both hit it off with each other. And soon everything Kendall has read in her romance novels is starting to come true.
This book was so cute. I LOVED it. I will say I felt like this book was a little too short. Like I really wanted it to be longer. I loved the relationship between Kendall and Vincent. They were so cute and perfect for each other. This was one of the best romance books I have read in a long time. I can’t wait to read more books by this author. I really did love this one.
Thank you so much Wattpad books for sending me this to read.

Night Shift by Annie Crown is a refreshing romantic novel that will keep you hooked from the beginning till the end. The story revolves around Kendall Holiday, who loves nothing more than spending her Friday nights reading romance novels in the college library. The solitude of the library is a perfect escape for her from the hustle and bustle of the real world.
One day, Vincent Knight, a popular basketball player of the college, enters the library, looking for help with his assignment. Kendall, who is lost in her book, is initially annoyed by his presence, but as they start talking, she realizes that he is not as bad as she thought he would be. A steamy make-out session follows, and they both are surprised by the intensity of their connection.
However, as they start to spend more time together, they realize that they are very different from each other. While Kendall is content with her simple life, Vincent is ambitious and wants to achieve great things. As they navigate their differences, they discover that it takes a lot more than just physical attraction to make a relationship work.
Overall, Night Shift is a delightful read that will make you laugh, cry, and fall in love with the characters. Annie Crown has done an excellent job of creating a story that is both entertaining and thought-provoking. If you are a fan of romance novels, Night Shift is a must-read for you.

I have many feelings about this book, but to start I'll preface by saying I've always been a sucker for the bookworm athlete romance because it's one I always fantasized about myself, specifically when I was in college. I loved this book up until the halfway point. Even though it was insta lovey and cheesy, it just made me smile and I felt like I was living my fantasies out through this book. I also felt a lot of nostalgia because the house parties and the way the library was described made me imagine my own university experiences. I will say after the halfway mark the book lost me a bit. I thought the two MCs were cute, but didn't have a lot of dimension to them. I don't think this book is necessarily anything new in romance, but it did make me smile and I had an enjoyable reading experience for the most part.

10000% loved this one. College romances are my weak point but this one was just perfection. Loved the development of Vincent and Kendall’s relationship. Loved how Vincent took life seriously but could be silly as all get out. Kendall loves to read romance and works at the library - a perfect heroine in my mind. Put the two together and the chemistry was - YES. Instalove is not normally my cup of tea, but it worked perfectly in this story. Miscommunication is my least favorite trope (just like Kendall’s), but they dealt with it in such adult ways that it didn’t feel juvenile to me. Absolutely adored the plot, the premise, the steam. Top read of the year for sure. Thanks for the opportunity to read as an ARC!

This book. I am absolutely OBSESSED. I've never read other sport romances other than hockey but apparently I'm into basketball now?
It was so cute and cozy and I loved that she worked at the library as I felt like... hey! This could be me!
I've already recommended this to about ALL of my friends and customers.

I could not finish this book at this time. I DNFed it and that's okay because it is good so far BUT I think I am just burned out on this type of book atm. ❤️ Hoping to come back to this one soon! Will update!

This is a cute, cheesy & most importantly SEXY read & I absolutely loved it. I was even able to overlook the miscommunication plot because in this case it did feel so real.

Thank you to the publisher for a copy of this e-arc!
This was a cute, fun, and spicy romance from Annie Crown. Kendall and Vincent meet in the library and from there, it launches their romance quickly into the real world. I loved how relatable Kendall was and how she was able to admit her fears and flaws. This book was and is the definition of instalove. While it’s not my favorite trope, it was done fast and fun in this book which I can appreciate.
If you’re looking for a quick, fun, and spicy read — this is your book!

Annie Crown, you have become a new favourite author and Night Shift has become a top read of 2023!
All I can say is that I am obsessed with bookish romances and soon as I heard that Annie Crown had written a book set in a library I had to read it.
I loved how Annie approached the concept of 'first love'. It explores the topic beautifully and gently while the character discovers who she is along the way.
The characters were amazing and their chemistry was SOO good! They had great banter and I loved how they didn't take themselves too seriously which I adored.
This complemented the plot so well and the writing was super engaging.
I read this book so fast and I honestly hated when I had to put it down to go to work.
I am so keen to get my hands on a paperback copy!

ok so this was a good book, so many cute and flirty moments that give you all the awwwws
it's not really a coming of age pov but it definitely had a lot of to do with new love, relationships and s*x life....
Kendall and Vincent are the main characters and their pov. They both are a bit awkward when it comes to dating, relationships and all those types of things. But Kendall is a romance reader and has soo many ideas. Vincent is the captain of the basketball team and not exactly what you would expect. He definitely takes the Best Book Boyfriend award in this book.
I love the cover of this book, it's cute and cartoony but sooo perfect. Def not like the cover of the book that Kendall was reading in the book. I loved the talk about books in this book it was a fun addition. So many tropes mentioned in this book about romance books.
Oh and also there we some spicy scenes and some weird but totally realistic ones as well.
This is my first book from this author and I really enjoyed her writing.
I am so glad to have the opportunity to read this book, thanks to the publishers and NetGalley. THe above is my review/opinion, its honest and voluntary.

This book was absolutely a five star read for me. I read it in one sitting and loved every minute of it. It was so cute and had me laughing out loud so many times. I loved Kendall and Vincent so much and loved how they were both shy and how the whole story played out. I also really like that the book was about a girl who loves books and loved all the aspects of different tropes that were brought up! The ending was perfect and i highly recommend this book!

This book was cute - the characters had good banter and their story was relatable. The FMC's insecurities were very relatable to me and I like how the MMC handled them for the most part.

Okay so first I would just like to say thank you to net galley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this arch!
Rating: 4.5 stars!
I had no idea this was a Wattpad story before I got it ( I don't often pay attention to the publisher, I mostly only pay attention to the book itself if it captures my attention), but I absolutely fell in love with the premise and the cover, so I knew I had to read this. I love the characters, I love a college romance... then you throw in a book lover and an mmc who plays sports and you've completely won my heart through and through. Such a light read, I really enjoyed and I know I will read this over and over again in time.

This book felt like a blast from the past, to the glory days of Wattpad! Which considering this books is published by Wattpad, I am not surprised. “Night Shift” is a cute, quick read with low-stakes drama and a swoon worthy college basketball player. Some of the writing was a bit redundant but for the first book to come from author Annie Crown I am happily satisfied! (3.5 stars)

I am all for a quick, spicy romance, but this one was just too unrealistic. There is very little character development or back story. The characters just fall for each other and have incredible sex, and that's about it. It felt very amateur Wattpad style to me and so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this book is published by Wattpad Books. So, if you're looking for an easy read to fulfill your fantasies of hooking up with your tutor/tutee, then this book is great! But if you are looking for a well written romance novel, you should pass on this book.

This was a good debut novel, but didn’t knock my socks off. I loved that our female lead works on a college campus library & is a lover of romance novels.
This book fell short when it came to a few things—
-miscommunication trope - the main character hates this trope in books she reads, but the whole book is one giant miscommunication trope
-too short - this was just shy of 300 pages & it was noticeable. There was very little development of characters & no true depth to their feelings. The story line was flat & didn’t have enough progression.
There was a lot of potential here & I would probably read another one of her books. It wasn’t bad, but definitely needed some refinement to add layers to the story and fully fleshed out characters.

3.5!! so spicy!! don't let that cover fool you! i did think it read a little young/immature, but I had a great time reading and highly recommend adding this to your tbr shelf. overall a very fun time and quick read.

Night Shift is an adorable rom-com about an anxious introvert falling for the star of the basketball team. It made me smile so much and is the perfect new adult book!
I loved that Kendall and Vincent were both shy and a little unsure. I have a soft spot for heroes who don't know what they are doing. I also really liked seeing how Kendall's overthinking led to problems. As an overthinker myself I can relate. I thought this book did pretty well at describing what having an undiagnosed and unrecognized anxiety disorder might be like though symptoms could be more severe than Kendall's are.
This book also played with romance tropes which I am always a fan of. There were a few moments where I was worried it was going to say we should live in the real world not read romance but it ended up with a good message about doing both.
Overall I think this one is a great romance for anyone who likes reading about college kids falling in love. I think Annie Crown did a beautiful job capturing the excitement, awkwardness, anxiety and cuteness of falling in love at that age.
