The Teacher is a book that will keep you glued to your chair until the end of it!! Nate and Eve teach at the same school and are fine as a couple until a student inserts herself into their affairs.
Views are given from each character and as it races to the end you feel the horror! This is not only what could happen but unfortunately does in today's world.
She has done it yet again! Just when you think you know every twist and turn, Freida McFadden throws a new one at you! Such a great read!
This is probably my second favorite book now! So many twists and turns I did not see anything happen that happen! This book deserves more than 5 stars! My jaw dropped a few times while reading it I went back and had to go reread the prologue and it all made sense!!!!
If she is coming out with a book I hands down pre order it each and every time and I will continue to do so until I can no longer read. This one blew me away. Gosh darn we all know those peer students like Kenzie, those crap starter stuck up cheerleaders. Just the way she does the chapters so fast one after another I just cant stop without finishing it in one sitting. The ending in this one was DEVINE.
I didn't enjoy this book as much as I usually enjoy Freida's books, but it was still a good read.
Addie didn't want to go back to her old school, but her mother wouldn't let her transfer. Something happened last year and she know that it would be the only thing the other kids (and teachers) talked about. It wasn't even true. She told them all it wasn't true.
Eve appears to have the perfect life. She has a beautiful husband and beautiful shoes, but life is not as it seems. Her life isn't perfect and neither is her husband.
Nate isn't happy with his wife. He does everything he can to avoid time with her. He stays late at school to work on the school newspaper and pretends everything is fine at home.
All three of them have secrets. All three of them will do anything to keep those secrets quite because they will destroy them.
It took me a while to work out my feelings about this book. While I liked many of the thriller elements and Freida’s usual formal. The way the student teacher relationship was handled just made me feel icky reading it. Overall it wasnt for me.
Sometimes I wonder if Frieda McFadden’s books are just bad or so bad they’re good? I will admit I always read her books quickly and they are easy to get into but the plots often times are very sloppy especially in the case of The Teacher. This was probably the worst of hers I’ve read with an ending that didn’t even make sense. That being said I will probably continue to read this author…lol. She’s kind of like a cheesy Lifetime movie you can’t look away from.
This book has plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing through the entire book. It follows a high school girl who has taken recent blows to her social status with students and teachers. Her reputation is less than ideal and it’s apparent that she really doesn’t have anyone on her side. She gets a new English teacher and he seems to give her an unbiased chance for a fresh start but things are not always what they seem. I I enjoyed this read but I do feel it should come with some trigger warnings.
If domestic thrillers are your go-to genre, put this on your TBR list immediately. The book opens with a body being buried, then is told in dual perspectives of a teacher and student, leading the reader down all kinds of surprising twists and turns. Eve is a strict, no-nonsense math teacher with an addiction to designer shoes. Her husband, Nate, also teaches at the high school; he is the handsome, beloved English teacher, yearbook, and literary magazine sponsor. Eve worries about her passionless marriage, suspects her husband of having an affair, and is furious to find out the student who got her mentor teacher fired is now in her class. Addie, after the loss of her alcoholic father, had clung to Mr. Tuttle. Although nothing inappropriate happened, rumor and innuendo ended Mr. Tuttle's teaching career and set Addie up to be the scapegoat of the school. As she starts school the next year, she finds shelter from the peer bullying from Nate.
All the characters in this book seemed to have a sociopathic edge to them, which made the twists and turns harder to predict. Plan for time when you can binge read - you will not be able to put this one down until it is finished.
I absolutely loved this book! Kept me on my toes the entire time. And I definitely was not expecting that twist at the end!
An absolute phenomenal read. The characters are descriptive, relatable, and easy to follow throughout the storyline. This is a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat and once you start reading, you won't want to stop. The twists are remarkable and will have you questioning how you managed to completely miss it by the end. You won't regret reading this!
I love Freida McFadden, and her thrillers are always full of plot twists, but this one just felt like it was lacking. I also want to say a huge TW for abuse and an inappropiate relationship. I was confused where the "thriller" aspect came in at first but about halfway through I kind of got what was happening. If you want a mindless thriller to read, I think this is a good read for you. I just finished a romantasy book and this was the perfect palette cleanser to cure my book hangover.

This is the second book of Freida McFadden that I have read. This is a psychological thriller with so many twists and turns that keeps you invested and wanting more. This book was a 5-star read for me; I would definitely recommend everyone to read it you won't be disappointed. The story follows Eve, Addie and Nate, it is told in 3 parts, the first part is in Eve and Addie's POV, the second is told in Addie, Nate and Eve's POV, the third part is in Addie's POV. Just when you think you know what is going on you get another twist. Addie is labeled a troubled girl, Eve is a shoe fanatic/math teacher and her husband Nate also an English teacher is known in school as one of the hot teachers.
Thank you to #NetGalley and #PoisonedPen for the opportunity to get an advanced reader copy of this book.
Freida does it again! The queen of crazy twists reigns supreme with The Teacher.
Nate and Eve are both teachers at the same high school, Caseham High. Last year a fellow teacher was involved in a scandal, accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. This year, both Eve and Nate have this student in their class, and Eve doesn't trust her one bit. Nate on the other hand, thinks she is just going through a tough time and should be given a chance. Which one is right?
As much as I enjoyed this book, I had to take away one star because of some loose ends at the end. I like my stories tied up in a nice little bow, and this one left me hanging. There were also some plotlines that just weren't realistic to me.
Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley who provided me with an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Frieda has done it again. The characters were well developed. Much of the book did bring me
back to high school and the “mean girls” that we all seemingly had to deal with. I will say it was a
bit much at times as the actions of one of the supporting characters, Kenzie, would in no way be
acceptable in school today. Bullying has zero tolerance and some adult there would have
stopped that from occurring as much as it did. I thought that there could be less of the
discussion about that aspect and possibly more of a backstory on Nathaniel (Nate). In my
experience, people do not just act a certain way if they hadn’t been influenced in the past and I
think that could have been a good addition to break up the details concerning Kenzie and Addie.
The book did have a very good twist, as all Freida’s books do, this was specifically so in the
epilogue, so don’t skip that if you don’t normally read them for some reason. I do not want to
spoil the book for those that haven’t read this one. I highly suggest reading it as well as all of her
others.

Wow! The Teacher is definitely ranking as one of my favorite Freida Reads!! This one starts off much slower than her previous books. You have Eve and Nate, a seemingly happily married couple who both teach at a local high school. Enter Addie, a seemingly troubled student who lands in both of their classes. Each character has their own secrets, even supporting characters that will throw you for a loop. When the dirt settles you will not be able to guess who’s left standing! Even though my spidey senses were going off about one character I definitely did not figure it all out. This book will wow down to the very last page!!! If you liked The Perfect Son, that ending revelation will be for you!! Can we expect a part 2??? One can only hope!!!
The Teacher is the newest psychological thriller by the very prolific Frieda McFadden. Eve and Nate are both high school teachers who have been married for several years. Their marriage has become a bit stagnant so they each find their own way to deal with that issue. Little do they realize the life-changing effects these decisions will have on both of them. Plenty of twists to kee the reader engaged to the very end. Read and enjoy!
The Teacher was a slow burn psychological thriller with many twists and turns at the end. It is a fun and quick read! Thank you to Poisoned Press and Netgalley for the ARC!
I read this book so fast. I really enjoyed it but left it with a few questions. Part of it did not feel believable at all which was disappointing. There were a ton of twists near the end. Once I got To about 70% I could Not stop reading until I was Done with it.
The Teacher is a hard book for me to rate. Generally, I pick my star ratings based on my personal reading experience—the more unputdownable, the better. And this one? I *FLEW* through it. McFadden is clearly gifted at crafting stories so twisted that you just HAVE to know how it all shakes out—fueled by alternating-POV chapters that are so quippy and cliffhangy that you just gotta read one more. If this author’s other stories are like this one—and I gather they are—then I get why people are EATING THEM UP.
BUT.
I cannot in good conscience rate this more than 3 stars. In addition to the icky sexual predation and grooming of minors central to this novel’s plot, I found the twists to be so convoluted and over-the-top that I was in a perpetual state of CRINGE while reading—even when I couldn’t stop reading! Plus, I was pretty put off by the constant undertone of misogyny, classism, and a fixation on appearances in both Addie’s and Eve’s narratives.
I’m not saying I’d never read anything else by this author, and I truly understand why people love her books. I can definitely see myself picking up another Freida McFadden novel in the future depending on my reading mood. However, I would only recommend this one with a mountain of caveats and disclaimers.
Know what you’re signing up for: addictive, potato-chip reading with disturbing themes and plot twists so far fetched that they are on a different plane of existence from believability.
Oh, and you’ll never look at a roll of toilet paper the same way again.
