Freida does it again! The queen of crazy twists reigns supreme with The Teacher.

Nate and Eve are both teachers at the same high school, Caseham High. Last year a fellow teacher was involved in a scandal, accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. This year, both Eve and Nate have this student in their class, and Eve doesn't trust her one bit. Nate on the other hand, thinks she is just going through a tough time and should be given a chance. Which one is right?

As much as I enjoyed this book, I had to take away one star because of some loose ends at the end. I like my stories tied up in a nice little bow, and this one left me hanging. There were also some plotlines that just weren't realistic to me.

Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley who provided me with an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Frieda has done it again. The characters were well developed. Much of the book did bring me
back to high school and the “mean girls” that we all seemingly had to deal with. I will say it was a
bit much at times as the actions of one of the supporting characters, Kenzie, would in no way be
acceptable in school today. Bullying has zero tolerance and some adult there would have
stopped that from occurring as much as it did. I thought that there could be less of the
discussion about that aspect and possibly more of a backstory on Nathaniel (Nate). In my
experience, people do not just act a certain way if they hadn’t been influenced in the past and I
think that could have been a good addition to break up the details concerning Kenzie and Addie.
The book did have a very good twist, as all Freida’s books do, this was specifically so in the
epilogue, so don’t skip that if you don’t normally read them for some reason. I do not want to
spoil the book for those that haven’t read this one. I highly suggest reading it as well as all of her
others.
Thank you to #NetGalley and #PoisonedPenPress for the opportunity

Wow! The Teacher is definitely ranking as one of my favorite Freida Reads!! This one starts off much slower than her previous books. You have Eve and Nate, a seemingly happily married couple who both teach at a local high school. Enter Addie, a seemingly troubled student who lands in both of their classes. Each character has their own secrets, even supporting characters that will throw you for a loop. When the dirt settles you will not be able to guess who’s left standing! Even though my spidey senses were going off about one character I definitely did not figure it all out. This book will wow down to the very last page!!! If you liked The Perfect Son, that ending revelation will be for you!! Can we expect a part 2??? One can only hope!!!

The Teacher is the newest psychological thriller by the very prolific Frieda McFadden. Eve and Nate are both high school teachers who have been married for several years. Their marriage has become a bit stagnant so they each find their own way to deal with that issue. Little do they realize the life-changing effects these decisions will have on both of them. Plenty of twists to kee the reader engaged to the very end. Read and enjoy!

The Teacher was a slow burn psychological thriller with many twists and turns at the end. It is a fun and quick read! Thank you to Poisoned Press and Netgalley for the ARC!

I read this book so fast. I really enjoyed it but left it with a few questions. Part of it did not feel believable at all which was disappointing. There were a ton of twists near the end. Once I got To about 70% I could Not stop reading until I was Done with it.

The Teacher is a hard book for me to rate. Generally, I pick my star ratings based on my personal reading experience—the more unputdownable, the better. And this one? I *FLEW* through it. McFadden is clearly gifted at crafting stories so twisted that you just HAVE to know how it all shakes out—fueled by alternating-POV chapters that are so quippy and cliffhangy that you just gotta read one more. If this author’s other stories are like this one—and I gather they are—then I get why people are EATING THEM UP.

BUT.

I cannot in good conscience rate this more than 3 stars. In addition to the icky sexual predation and grooming of minors central to this novel’s plot, I found the twists to be so convoluted and over-the-top that I was in a perpetual state of CRINGE while reading—even when I couldn’t stop reading! Plus, I was pretty put off by the constant undertone of misogyny, classism, and a fixation on appearances in both Addie’s and Eve’s narratives.

I’m not saying I’d never read anything else by this author, and I truly understand why people love her books. I can definitely see myself picking up another Freida McFadden novel in the future depending on my reading mood. However, I would only recommend this one with a mountain of caveats and disclaimers.

Know what you’re signing up for: addictive, potato-chip reading with disturbing themes and plot twists so far fetched that they are on a different plane of existence from believability.

Oh, and you’ll never look at a roll of toilet paper the same way again.

Listen- I got this like 5 days before the release date and I was still STOKED. I am a big fan of anything Freida writes and consider myself an OG fan!

The Teacher did not let me down- I have NEVER been able to predict her twists and this was no exception.

Here's the thing- the end of the book wrapped it up nicely- nothing TOO jaw dropping, but then the epilogue- WHAT.

I've never had an author keep me hooked like this until literally the very last page.

No spoilers here, but go read it. I enjoyed it and you will too

Book Summary:
I have so many thoughts on this book!!! Let me start off by saying wow! Frieda McFadden did not disappoint! We meet Eve and Nate, a married couple who on the outside look like a perfect couple, but have some marital problems of their own. They both teach at a local high school that has recently been the town talk of a scandal between a teacher and a student. we then meet Addie a student at high school she has had a troubled pass and is trying to move on from it, but she finds herself in an even worse predicament than her last year.

First please, please, PLEASE check your triggers before reading! This book involves a student/teacher relationship.

‼️SPOILERS AHEAD‼️

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
My Thoughts:
This book had me in a death grip! She is such an amazing author, she has this ability to truly make you despise her characters. I loved this book, did I enjoy reading the romance between an almost 40 year old and a teenager? Absolutely not, but the way she made me hate this fake character was insane. I was truly steaming in my chair at this guy! Addie was annoying, but in true teenage fashion was “in love”. I felt the most sorry for Eve. She was probably not the best person, but mostly is because of her circumstances with her husband. He was such an awful person. She was dealt a bad hand and paid the price. However, the ending😳 I was in utter shock the last 2 pages of this book! If you know, you know! Wow.

Probably almost a 5⭐️ for me but I couldn’t get past the student/teacher thing. Although it did make for a great story! One of my favorites from her! Cannot wait for her next book!

Thank you so much to @NetGalley and @poisonedpenpress for the e-ARC of this title!

This is an excellent thriller from Freida McFadden. I didn't see some of the twists coming. I will be recommending this book to everyone l.

This genre is not typically one that I dive into, and I was looking forward to it. However, I found that the beginning of the novel drug on, and I was not understanding why it was categorized as a thriller. For the first 75% of the book or Part I as it is labeled, you are only given background information, nothing is given that drives the plot of the story. While this information is pertinent to any well-written story, I feel that giving it the majority of the book was more harm than good.

Regarding the remaining 25% of the book, Parts II and III, I highly enjoyed and was able to understand why it fell in the thriller genre. After getting through the dry beginning, which ended up being the first 75% of the book, I found that the remainder was one I did not want to put down. Each chapter left me struck with surprise and wonder, trying to figure out how all the puzzle pieces fit together. I strongly wish that this smaller portion of the book comprised the majority of the book, rather than only the small portion at the end.

While I did enjoy the ending of this book strongly, I wish that the epilogue had left a few things unanswered. The conclusions made in the epilogue I found to be hard to believe, and I was unable to see the reality of the ending coming full circle as it did. I found it hard to believe, but that could also just be me being in denial of not seeing how each puzzle piece connected. With the knowledge that I now have from the epilogue and the ending in general, I would enjoy rereading the book to see if I could pick up on the little hints that were given throughout the dry beginning, to see if the ending was more realistic than I was giving it credit for.

When deciding my overall rating of the book, I considered how the interesting portions of the book were not the majority, but instead the minority. I was debating whether or not to rate The Teacher as a three-star, or four-star. I feel that I would be able to give it such a high rating if Part I had not dragged on so long and that the thriller and exciting pieces made up the majority of the story.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book provided by the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

One word. Wow. I read this in literally one day (started it at night and finished in the morning). I always think I know whats going on and feel like I know what the twist is going to be, but Freida always manages to take me by surprise. This book was actually darker than what I’m used to with regard to the plot, (I wont include spoilers but do check any trigger warnings) but I really enjoyed it. I feel as though the unreliable narrator trope is something this author excels at, because I have loved every book I have read thus far with it! The cliff-hanger at the end was something I absolutely did NOT expect, and it makes me feel as though this will be continued like the housemaid is.. I NEED TO KNOW. One thing I really loved about this book was the fact that there was never a dull moment. I felt like I was on the edge of my seat the entire way through and that is how I knew this book would immediately be 5 stars! Freida Mcfadden is 10000% my insta-buy author!!

WOW, I was not expecting that ending. Frieda never disappoints. Just when I thought I had figured it out another twist and then another turn.

Hideously bad. I'm stunned that this author is so popular. I almost want to compare this experience to a eating cheap, greasy burger, but I didn't even enjoy myself. Terrible characters, bad writing, silly "plot twists". Spare yourself.

I have read a few of Freida McFadden's books before and they are always a quick, entertaining read. This should be a light, fluff piece of pulp fiction but, with the subject matter being so disturbing, it was anything but that. Although it was fast-paced and had several twists, it became increasingly difficult to believe them. Most of the characters are also unlikeable yet, despite all of that, there is a big audience for this book. If you like Lifetime movies and soap operas, this is right up your alley. Recommended for domestic thriller fans who enjoy some dark and disturbing themes. Thank you to Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Teacher by Frieda McFadden grips you right from the first sentence and keeps you simply mesmerised throughout. Although I expected more from the plot twists. I will be recommending this to anyone who loves an addictive thriller!

First of all, I love Frieda McFadden. Her books are fast-paced, and I love the twists and turns. The Teacher did not disappoint. I loved how Frieda captured the thoughts and feelings of a teenager with a crush. The ending was jaw-dropping. The only negative comment is how Eve acted like she didn't know Jay. I don't want to spoil the book, so that I will leave it at that. IFYKY! Overall, this was a good read, and I'm thankful I got a copy early from NetGalley.

This book hooked me from the beginning. There character development from beginning to middle was thoughtful, detailed, and made them all thoroughly unlikeable and suspect. The twists and turns in the second half increased my anxiety and challenged my problem solving skills. The ending... My goodness.. The ending.... I have thought about it for hours to process the information. Definitely considering a re-read to be sure I didn't miss anything since I was so intrigued and anxious to get to the end. Thought provoking, detailed, smart, twisty! Excellent read!

Psychological thriller about a couple who are both teachers at the same high school. Eve is a math teacher and her good looking and charming husband Nate is an English teacher. When Addie, a troubled student, who caused another teacher to be fired, ends up in both their classes, things start to go bad in their already faltering relationship. But who is really the victim here, 16 year old Addie or Eve. I don't want to give anything else away, it was an enjoyable read with a big twist at the end that I didn't see coming.

As a long time FMF I was psyched to be able to read The Teacher. First the positives. It was definitely a quick read, easy to get through. The story was pretty interesting and the twists were really good. I definitely was surprised multiple times. Now the not so positives. I really didn’t connect with any of the characters. Through half the book I really didn’t get which teacher was the focus. The initial scandal in the beginning of the book wasn’t very realistic at all, which ok it’s fiction that’s fine. But it was so unrealistic that it was confusing. There were parts I did enjoy but overall I just didn’t have a great time reading it. It was a decent thriller but not what I’ve come to expect from the author.
