I liked that this book is a quick page turner. It starts with a burial, and you have to keep reading to figure out who is holding the shovel and who is under the dirt.
I did not like the fact that every single character grated on my nerves. Having one strong protagonist would have been appreciated. The epilogue was shocking, but too much of a stretch.
I received a free copy of the book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This book was very well thought out and written. There were a lot of twists and turns right up to the very end. I love Freida McFadden’s books. I will be reading all of them!
I have read several of Freida McFadden books and her books have me hooked! She makes reading fun! The books are easy reads and can be read in one sitting. I'm a high school teacher and so "The Teacher" felt more personal and some of it a bit disturbing. However, I did like the story. The teenage perspective was pretty spot on! There were a few twists which Freida is known for and I have grown to love. Another great book to add to my Freida collection.
I'm a big fan of Freida McFadden's novels. This was my fifth or sixth one. Her writing style is dramatic, her plots are wild and twisty, and I root for her main characters, even when they act in morally questionable ways.
I basically enjoyed The Teacher, but it's my least favorite of McFadden's books that I've read, and if you haven't read her yet, I'd suggest starting with something else. The plot of this book is definitely wild, twisty and enjoyable, but a little too unbelievable for me. I mean, McFadden's plots always have some holes IMHO, but usually I don't mind; this time a couple of the twists strained my creduility a bit too much. Also, McFadden's main characters are usually heroines, despite their flaws; this time I didn't feel like they were heroines. I definitely rooted for the two main characters, but they also annoyed me.
I did enjoy the read, and I'm rounding up to four stars. McFadden is such a talented writer, and she writes chapter endings better than anyone else I can think of.
This was my 14th Freida book and it started off slower than some of her other ones. But in true Freida fashion, the ending was crazy, so unpredictable and the twists come all the way through the epilogue!! She truly is the queen of twists, another solid 5 stars!
One of the best Freida books I have read! The twists kept me reading until I finished in one sitting! Excellent book!!
Frieda does it again. Another book that sucks you in! Teachers with secrets… Students with secrets… Lives ruined! I will say this wasn’t a 5⭐️ read like a lot of hers for me just because there were some slower parts in the middle. However it wasn’t enough to ruin the book for me or anything. Still give it 4⭐️! Worth the read!!
I sat here and wondered what rating I could give this one, and I bounced between 4 and 5 only because of the repeating of the name Loubatin and the shoe fetish. I got it that Eve was obsessed with shoes, but I felt that the author just overused that so much. I understood that it could be tied to the store that Eve always goes to.
Eve and Nate don't have the best marriage, it seems, and they are both on different wavelengths when it comes to love. On the outside, it may look like they are the perfect couple, but enter the household, and well, we're just gonna leave that there.
Addie a student who has both Nate and Eve in their classroom, she has been labeled a problem student ever since Mr. Tuttle got fired from his job. It seems something inappropriate happened between Addie and him, even though Addie swears it didn't. I wanted more back story when it came to Mr. Tuttle and Addie, I felt there could have been some more in-depth story line there.
I saw a lot of different twists that surprised me, and I liked it. Do know that this story does contain an inappropriate relationship between a student and teacher, which may be a trigger for some.
Was this my favorite book of hers, I can't honestly say, was my mouth opened at certain parts totally!
This book felt rushed and sloppy. I did not appreciate the student teacher relationships. There was no trigger warning for child grooming. Stating that there is a “student teacher affair” that surrounds scandal and rumors is not the same thing as what was portrayed in this book. Nate is a sexual predator and a pedophile. Also, there’s no way Eve didn’t know who “Jay” was - he’s the quarterback at her high school!!!!
I don’t think my head has ever gone in so many directions before as it did with this book! I feel like I got whiplash with all the crazy plot twists! This was a phenomenal book! Freida did it yet again!!
This story follows Addie, a troubled young girl who seems to be followed by bad luck. The story also follows Eve and Nate, husband and wife, who are both teachers at the same high school. Each person holds secrets that would be scandalous if they got out, and they do what they can to keep those secrets hidden.
Read The Teacher by Freida McFadden and see what you think. I think this is my second favorite book of Freida’s. Definitely one to add to the TBR!
Another winner from Freida McFadden. I discovered her through the Housemaid duo and devoured everything else she has written. This new novel is captivating. Do not think you can take your time reading. Plan to finish in one sitting. How does she create these remarkable characters? Plot twists? Never mind. Just go with it.
Being a teacher myself I was intrigued by this book, now knowing this is something that should never happen in real life I was hooked by the first few chapters. It was fast paced and I didn't expect any of the twists at the end. And of course with Frieda you get all the twists and more! Such a good read, going on my top 5 stars list for this year.
As I patiently awaited the release of Freida's newest book, The Teacher, I checked my email a few days ago to find I was selected for an ARC in NetGalley. My first one ever! I was so excited! I finished the book today, and let me tell you, Freida did not disappoint with this one! I was hooked from the beginning... I could not figure out who it was in the Prolouge. There were several different story lines going on, and I was like, okay, something has to happen with one of them, but I don't know who. I could not put it down. My emotions were all over the place. I was liking a character one minute and then hating them the next. While I ended up guessing a couple of the earlier twists, the final two twists shocked me! Especially the one in the Epilogue; I did not see that coming at all. I was still talking about it to my friends hours later! This was my 8th Freida McFadden book, and with the exception of one, I've really enjoyed them all. I will definitely keep reading her books, and recommending them to my friends! Thank you to Freida, her marketing person, Mandy from Poisoned Pen Press, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book before it's officially released! I loved it!
Freida has done it again! A book full of secrets, scandals, lies, twists and turns, and a whole lot of shoes!!! Unassuming Addie has a past, one that spells trouble everywhere she turns, but some things are not always what they seem.
Trigger warnings.

This book had me hooked from page one. A very common occurrence when reading Freida's books. Every time you think you know where the story will go, you get whiplash finding out a new piece of information. I have read all of her books, and I am fairly used to it by now, but even I didn't see that ending coming! Nobody is innocent! So strap in and enjoy the ride!!
4.5/5 stars and I cannot wait for her next masterpiece.
Absolute jaw dropping ending! Classic Freida. I got bored a little bit about 85% through but the ending made up for it.
What a great read and although I kind of predicted the twist at the end it was still a thoroughly enjoyable read!
It is fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat stuff that will entertain you from the beginning to the end.
I think this is by far my favourite read from Freida McFadden.
Most of the story is told from the viewpoint of Eve and Addie but how reliable are they in telling us their story? Can we believe everything they say?
You cannot but help feel sorry for both of these characters.
Eve is caught in a loveless marriage with a husband who does not desire her anymore and the only thing that makes her feel better about herself is an obsession with shoes.
Addie is a 16-year-old girl who has been through a lot starting with her alcoholic father and then the friendship with a teacher that ended in him having to resign and her being ostracized and bullied by the rest of the pupils. This makes her easy pray for someone like Nate Bennett.
She just needs somebody to understand her, to give her attention and show her love and unfortunately, it is this vulnerability that makes her easy prey.
Nate Bennett is such a despicable character that I felt like throttling him at times!
A very enjoyable read that I can highly recommend!
Thank you to Netgalley and Poisoned Penn Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion
Mixed emotions with this one!
I love Freida's books. The twists are great and I enjoy that I can easily get lost in her books for hours until next thing I know, I've finished the book. This book however, wasn't the same. Without giving spoilers, it gave a lot of "ick" that made it difficult to read thru. It felt very dark for her books, and much different than the others. I enjoy the multiple character naration throughout the chapters. I liked that it was divided into parts, the flow of the book was great. I did enjoy the twists and felt that everything was wrapped up nicely in the end and felt complete. The ending did not feel rushed, which seems to be the issue with a lot of books I've read recently (Freida's not included). She gives great imagery with her writing, I can follow along with her words just as though I'm watching them happen. I just didn't love this book the way I love her others, so I give this 4/5 stars.
This book was phenomenal! I couldn’t put it down and finished it in one setting. If you like psychological thrillers, this is a must read! I love all of Frieda’s books but The Teacher is my favorite thus far!

I received a copy of this book for free, and I leave my review voluntarily.
This book has several triggers, so be warned. If an adult engaging with a minor is too heavy for you, please do not read this book. The basic concept of this book is heavy and dark, and the twists are insane.
Holy. Buckets. This was bananas. I loved the chaos and tension. Frieda has such a brilliant way of telling a story that evokes many emotions.
The way she writes manipulation is so clever and so deadly. The characters in this book were so well-rounded and defined. I didn’t want to like anyone, but Addie captured my heart.
The way this story unravels is wild. It is a genuinely twisted, full-circle free fall. I liked how poetry was used and referenced without being “too” much.
The way Frieda uses literary references makes my English major heart happy. The deliverance of karma was deliciously devious and exquisitely executed.
This would make such a fantastic series if done correctly. Every element is so critical, even the minor details. This was such an excellent novel. The topic is heavy, and the idea of an adult telling a child they are soulmates gives me the ick, but this was done well. Frieda left so much up to the reader's imagination, which was well played.
My mind is still reeling from the final twist. That I did not see coming, and for that, I applaud you, Frieda McFadden.
3.75⭐️
I usually devour Freida’s books but I got stuck about halfway through because it started to get kind of stale. But…once I got a little farther into the story it really started to pick up and I finished it in one night. I did not see the twist at the end coming at all. That increased my rating a bit because I love to be surprised.
