While I don’t think it was the author’s best book, I did enjoy it. I thought I could see where the book was leading, but in the end I was left with my jaw on the ground.
She's done it again, folks! Freida McFadden is one of those authors whos book I will not hesitate to download the second I see it's available. Tell me how it can take me up to 3 days to finish most of my books, but when I sit down with one of her masterpieces, I finish it in a few hours and am REELING from the shock and emotions every time?!
The twists and turns in The Teacher are unexpected and completely what you would expect to not expect from FM, if that makes any sense. The dual POV is perfectly done and the characters are memorable for all the right reasons.
There's something about the flow from FM that just keeps these stories at the perfect pace that you can breeze right through them while still taking in all the context. I love that Eve, FMC, is written with such insight into her mind and the thoughts that she shouldn't be thinking, especially when Addie, FMC, is introduced and we see the views of them from each other's perspective.
I am so hooked on McFadden's books, they are my palate cleanser, I always know it's going to be good. This one had me shook, like actually shocked + cringing at the teacher/ student relationship aspect. These things don't bother me but I actually shuddered in disgust, it felt so dirty, then I realized this is why I read. McFadden can evoke those emotions, all of them. There were some surprising twists here, I don’t even know how someone can think of this stuff, let alone write book after book with new twists.
100% did expect anything. Just as I thought the plot twists were done, she gives you more. I will be recommending to EVERYONE!
"The Teacher" by Frieda McFadden is like a rollercoaster for your brain! Seriously, this book is a 5-star mind-bender. Twists? It's got 'em in spades. And just when you think you've got it all figured out, BAM – McFadden flips the script.
The characters? Complex and fascinating. The plot? A rollercoaster of suspense that keeps you hooked. But let's talk about that ending – my jaw hit the floor. I never saw it coming!
McFadden's writing style is addictive. You'll find yourself glued to the pages, unable to put it down. If you dig psychological thrillers with surprises around every corner, "The Teacher" is your next obsession. It's a wild ride from start to finish, and I'm giving it a solid 5 stars. Buckle up! 🌟
The Teacher by Freida McFadden is another fast read that you won't want to put down. Ms. McFadden has a definite style which can sometimes be comforting in that you know you are going to get a great story, with an awesome twist. She often writes in first person, different chapters for different characters, which can be effective but can also be tedious. For the most part, it is a good way of keeping each character's story straight. Just when you think you have things figured out, she throws a curveball at you and you end up going in a totally different direction in your thinking just to be spun around again with a new twist you didn't see coming. I highly recommend all of her books as they are extremely appealing and fun to read. Most of her books are standalones so grab any one of them and hang on for a roller coaster ride.
Yet another wild and fun ride with Freida, I was so close to actually getting this one perfect and figuring out who did what until that last line and the epilogue!!! Blew my mind. The teachers in this book are horribly uncomfortable which makes it even better, their student is creepy as heck and the side characters really sneak up on ya;) I loved every second of it!!
This book quickly had my full attention at the prologue. But once the 38 yr old male teacher kissed his 16 yr old student and told her that him and his wife have nothing in common and that she (the 16 yr old) was his soulmate, I was out.
I don’t care if the author is one of my favorites, I’m not going to read about a teacher/student having a sexual relationship.
I also don't understand the five star reviews when this book is littered with grooming and teacher/student sexual relationships. In the world that we live in now, this is not acceptable.
Thank you Poisoned Pen Press for sending me an ARC of The Teacher!
Freida McFadden got me again. While reading this book, there were some small twists. I was more shocked by some predictability in a Freida McFadden novel!
Then I got to the second to last page. My Kindle showed that I was at the 99% mark in the book. I yelled OH MY GOD. Never trust a Freida McFadden character. I get duped every time!
I do think the book should have a trigger warning for an inappropriate relationship between teacher and student though.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC. The Teacher was a phenomenally written book. I really enjoyed it next to The Housemaid. The Teacher was a pager and kept you on your toes with each twist and turn. Freida McFadden is quickly becoming one of my top pick authors. Her writing style is clear and flows for an easy, quick read.
First I want to thank Freida, NetGalley, and Poisoned Pen Press for an advance copy of this book. ♥️ This was my 16th Frieda McFadden book and I am always amazed by her work. She is definitely auto buy author for me. I found this book to be a solid 3.5. It’s not her best nor her worst work. It falls in the middle. I found it to start on the slower side with a ton of details and then I went from 0-100. I will say you the twists were definitely in her story and you should pick it up! Can’t wait to hear what all of you guys think.
Firstly, thank you to Netgalley and Mandy at Poisoned Pen Press for this ARC!
3.5 stars - I thought this book was very binge worthy, I read it in a weekend. It is pretty scandalous but is not a thrilling and twisting as some of her other work but still a great read!! All of that being said, I still very much enjoyed this read as I do with any book by Ms. McFadden!
Another great read by Freida McFadden. It did not disappoint. I loved the different teaching styles of Nate and Eve. At the beginning of the story I found my self wishing that I could have been one of Nate's students. As Nate's and Addie's relationship grows, I could not put the book down. I loved all of the twists and turns. The ending took my breathe away. I really enjoyed this book.
Frieda McFadden is easily one of my favorite Thriller authors, her writing style grabs ahold of your attention and keeps you turning pages from start to finish.
Directly after I got "The Teacher" it was moved to the top of my TBR and I binged it in one reading session. I thought I had the plot pretty well figured out but I didn't expect that final twist at all!
Fans of this author know that she has a way of crafting characters that will produce strong emotions within you. This storyline definitely had it's share of despicable monsters.
Another solid Thriller, I think her audience will enjoy this book!
Thank you Frieda McFadden, Net Galley and Poisoned Press for providing me with an ARC of this book!
THE ENDING! Described in my words as I finished it "a bamboozle, a shock, a twist, a trick!"
If you have a flight from Ft. Lauderdale FL to Grand Rapids Michigan, you can finish this in one day! I was bossed. I couldn't put this down and I did NOT see that ending.
This is a fast-paced thriller that you won't be able to put down. Focused on a married couple that are both teachers. As well as a student with a questionable past. You won't regret picking this book up!
I'll admit, when a certain gross plot twist happened about 40% of the way, I was debating DNFing this. I was like "the mystery seems intriguing as hell, but this plot just took a gross turn and I can't possibly read it." But knowing her books, I had to finish and see it through, and I'm so glad I did. The twists kept coming and I audibly gasped every time. It's a fantastic read. I do feel like one thing that seemed major in the beginning (Mr. Tuttle) kind of faded out into the background and got forgotten about, which I am still very curious about, but I figure I can fill in the gaps decently enough. Still, there's a hole there I'm curious to have filled. Either way, great, fast read. Kept me going to the end. Already recommended it to my mother, who loves McFadden's work.
Frieda has done it again!!! When I think I figured everything out, there's another mind-blowing twist! I like how she switches each chapter from different characters' points of view. And she has a way to make it so you get so aggravated with some of the characters! Until the very last page, this book is full of surprises.
Here is my arc review for The Teacher by Freida McFadden. I’d like to thank Netgalley and Sourcebooks for giving me early access to this book. I’m giving this book 4.25 stars
In this book we have a dual pov where we follow Eve, a high school teacher and her husband who is also a teacher. The other pov is Addie, a student that has mystery surrounding her due to something that happened last school year with another teacher, who no longer works at the school. She’s being bullied by mean girls, she’s in both Eve and her husbands class, and is completely misunderstood. There were quite a few wtf moments that I didn’t see coming and had me saying “wait what” and rereading the sentence.
There’s a teacher / student relationship that I honestly didn’t like reading about because of the age gap. And there’s a scene that could be a slight trigger for people.
Overall the amount of plot twists and shocking moments in this book had me binging this book because I just had to know what was going to happen. Freida has done it again with another page turning thriller and I’m wondering if this book will have a sequel?
**Spoiler free review of The Teacher**
The Teacher is a slow burn mystery with crazy drama, and even crazier twists. As usual, Freida makes characters complex and intriguing, even if they are not the most likable or relatable character. You never know quite who to root for, which is an interesting aspect of her books that keeps you on your toes. Every chapter ends on a cliffhanger that makes you want to read the next chapter. The best part, as usual to Freida’s books, is the amount of amazing and surprising twists. I never know what to expect, and even though I had an inkling of what might happen, she still surprised me time and time again. Perfect for fans of Freida’s “The Perfect Son.” A great read with plenty of twists to look forward to!
Thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for an advanced copy from one of my favorite authors!
In typical Freida fashion this one sucked me from the beginning. This is a true page turner full of twists and drama. The very end, like the last two pages was a full on WTF moment. I did pretty much figure this one out before the end except for the very last little twist in the final pages.
