In this story, we learn about Caseham High and the scandal involving a previous teacher and a student, Addie. We also follow the perspectives of Eve and Nate, two current teachers at the same school. Addie & Nate have a bond that is unlike any other, but its fallout is fatal. Thank you so much to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for approving me to review this novel early and cannot wait for many more to read it on Feburary 6th! This may be Freida’s best work and I’ve read them all!

Thanks so much to Freida and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC of Freidas latest book due out 6th Feb 2024.
Doesnt matter what the book is called, what its about or anything at all really - basically if Freida writes it - I'm gonna read it 🤩
I have read absolutely everything she has written and she never disappoints so I was super excited to get stuck into this one and as expected, it did not disappoint.
It had me hooked from the very start with short grippy chapters and an entertaining storyline.
I love all of her books! She is such a talent in this genre. Defo one of my favourote authors out there at the min! While this one isnt my favourite book of hers, (I thought some parts were a tad unbelievable) the shock factor was still present in typical Freida style. It was fast paced and kept me gripped throughout.
It was an addictive, shocking and twisty read and I defo recommend it if your looking for a good thriller book.
Flew through this one in one sitting and already counting down the days for her next book 'The Housemaid is Watching' to be released!
Thank you Netgalley.
4 very deserving stars from me

Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Press for this ARC e-book.
Eve Bennett is a math teacher and her husband, Nate Bennett, an English teacher. Their marriage feels stale to both of them. As a new school year begins, they both have troubled student, Addie Severson, who got a teacher fired last year. Addie's life has not been easy and having attention from the most well-liked teacher in school has its perks. As student and teachers' worlds collide, dangerous secrets will be revealed.
I liked this book the best of the three Freida McFadden thrillers I've read (The Inmate and The Coworker). I thought the pacing was good and I was interested in the progression of the story. I was genuinely surprised by all the twists, but at the same time felt that the twists were grounded and believable.
This book left me speechless! The ending was not expected at all. There were so many twists and turns in this book that I was yelling and gasping the whole time I was reading it. This is by far one of my favorite Freida books she has ever written. I am so thankful that I was able to read this early, because it was amazing! I was hooked from the beginning and finished it in one sitting. Definitely a 5 star read!!!
HOLY SHIT! If you're looking for something you can binge read in one sitting that will keep you guessing until the epilogue, then look no further!
This is my second Freida McFadden book and it will certainly NOT be my last because WOW!
This book follows Mr and Mrs Bennett who are both teachers at the high school and Addie, a student who has a rather troubled past.
The Mr & Mrs are not particularly happy in their marriage and Addie has recently gotten herself into some trouble so we are following the story of all three characters and the intricate web of deception and lies that they all weave.
This book was not quite five stars because I felt there were times where the plot was a little slow but she made up for it with those plot twists!! Some were more predictable than others, but the final twist in the epilogue?!?? Are you kidding me!!! I never saw that one coming and my jaw hit the floor. I screamed out loud.
Overall 4.5
Absolutely recommend!!!
✨Book Review✨
The Teacher by Freida McFadden
⭐️⭐️⭐️
.
This book really should have been a two star rating from me. I was not at all ok with the subject matter, which is the main reason I would not recommend this book to anyone. The only reason I bumped it to a 3 is because I have to give her credit for writing another book I didn’t want to put down. I read on my kindle while driving to work this morning 😬 She really knows how to suck you in, but man I wish she would have not made some of these characters children.
.
Another great book by Frieda! I loved this so much!
I love how it gives different perspectives/narratives of each character!
Eve is unhappy and naive and feels that she knows the truth when in reality she doesn’t have the faintest idea of who her husband is!
So many twists and turns right to the very last page! Pre-order this book! It was amazing!!!
As a huge fan of Freida McFadden, I assumed The Teacher would be as amazing as her other books, and guess what? It was!!
Freida has wonderful character development and her plot twists are legendary. There were a few twists in this book that I literally dropped my jaw at. Her tension-building between characters through the course of the story is the reason she's currently the queen of thrillers, and it's a well- deserved title. Run and get this book! It's great!!
I was super excited to get this book early and It DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! I love Freida’s books and I loved the twist when you think you have it figured out she drops the bomb on you!
Freida delivers a captivating thriller that keeps you on your toes until the last sentence. The twists in the last half of this book were so good, and even when you think you know what’s going on, everything changes! Definitely a must read book of 2024. You don’t wanna miss this one!
I always see a lot of love for Freida McFadden and now I finally see why! I ripped through this book, barely putting it down. Quick chapters. Great twists. And a jawdropping ending. So so good! Now to get stuck into her backlist.
An intriguing and addictive psychological thriller. This book kept me on the edge of my seat with twists that occurred right up through the final page. Characters were well developed and the story felt like it was coming from the multiple different points of view it was written in.
The Freida twister hits again! WOW.
This book kept me in its grip from start to finish with turns until the very last page I did not see coming.
Freida strikes again with an unputdownable, unreliable thriller, this time with #metoo themes. I have read a lot of thrillers, but I can never tell exactly where McFadden is going. My only complaint is actually post-textual: the reader's group guide, if you were to use it, isn't super useful. A lot of it is "when this happened, did you see it coming?" Not sure I would use that component, but the novel itself serves.
This was the third book I’ve read by the author, and I liked it more than the other two (The Inmate & The Gift), but I almost dropped it around 50%. The only character that is anywhere remotely close to being likable is Addie, because she is a child, and it’s not her fault that the adults in her life failed her miserably. I absolutely hated how Eve treated her and even put blame on her at first for what happened. The final twist didn’t make much sense to me either. If “Jay” is who we are to believe he is, then how did Eve never recognize him… and why is there never an introspective moment to highlight the fact that she is honestly no better than her husband since both were having extramarital affairs with minors? …yeeeah, so this one got me riled up, but I finished reading it in a day and look forward to the author’s other works.
Thank you to NetGalley, Freida McFadden and publishers for the ARC.
(3.5 stars)
I keep thinking about this book as I try to put the pieces together. The Teacher by Freida McFadden has an unbelievably twisted end that you won't see coming.
This psychological thriller kept me reading because I had to know how things turned out!
The Teacher follows two women, Eve, a high school math teacher, and Addie, one of her deeply troubled students. In a Frieda McFadden book, nothing is as it seems.
I found this book to be pretty fast pace, medium at some points. McFadden does a great job of building suspense and tension. I found the characters to be complex, as they always are in McFadden's books. For the most part, I also believe they were realistic.
The Teacher explores themes such as the ethics and boundaries of student-teacher relationships, trust and betrayal, and revenge.
The reason I gave four stars was because there were some places where I felt things were too coincidental and I didn't find the ending particularly satisfying. There was also a loose string or two unless I missed something. In some cases the plot was cliche. However, I would read it again, especially after knowing the ending.
This psychological thriller is comparable to others in the genre such as The Silent Patient and The Woman in the Window, but it brings it own unique elements.
This book is perfect for anyone who wants something dark, tense, and mysterious. It is definitely a page turner but contains some graphic scenes and descriptions. If you are a Frieda McFadden fan I would consider this a must read.
Freida McFadden is the queen of plot twists, so I snagged the chance to get an ARC of this one because, hello, I am down for all things twisty in a book!
While the plot has been done before – two married high school teachers who both have secrets, including one having an affair with a student – this one was intriguing from beginning to end, and boy was that an end I did not see coming! I don’t want to give anything away, so I suggest going into this blind.
This is the perfect book to bring on your next mini vacation, or while you’re taking a break from the slopes. You can devour this in a sitting or two.
Thank you to Freida McFadden, Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for an advanced e-copy of this book for an honest review.
I have been Freida Mcfaddened once again! I was so excited to get the ARC for this book! I have read every single Freida book and this one did not disappoint!
The Teacher was a fun, twisted, unexpected thriller. When you think you have it figured out, there's always another twist to throw you off. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and an excited to recommend it to everyone I know!
Freida has done it yet again! The queen of untrustworthy characters and surprises.
Each character has their own set of secrets and some of them you would never expect. You think you know what’s going on but you have no idea.
The teacher kept me on the edge of my seat and I finished this in less than a day.
