Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for providing me with this ARC to review. I have read several of Freida McFadden’s books, and I will say this one ranks on the higher end for me! Although I guessed all of the twists except one, I still really enjoyed the story. I love getting the multiple perspectives from Eve, Addie, and Nate. I feel like if we only got one side of the story, it would not have the same impact. I knew to prepare for a twisty ending, and Freida delivered once again. This one had me hooked from the very beginning.

The Teacher was fast paced with characters you couldn’t help but hate but that’s about where my positive feedback ends. I went in hoping to get a story like Never Lie or The Locked Door but instead got a book full of wild, unlikely twists and a final twist that, first, I wondered if McFadden was going to go there after I was about halfway through the book and, second, made me completely nauseous. This is the third release in a row that I feel has not lived up to McFadden’s previous books.

I got an early release copy of The Teacher from NetGalley and I was thrilled!!!!
Freida has done it again! I love her books with all the plot twists and turns. She keeps you guessing!
The Teacher was no exception. Eve and Nate have what seems like a good marriage on the outside. But there are things they both keep from each other. They are both high school teachers, each have the same scandalous student Addie in their classes. Everyone thinks she is trouble and can’t be trusted, except for Nate. But is that true? As she finds herself involved in an affair that could ruin their lives and Eve’s, something happens which makes it all worse. That’s when the plot twists come and have you guessing at what is really going on.
There was time when I thought I guessed it and said no I’m wrong, but I ended up being correct. And I was ok with that because there were a couple more twists in there that I never thought about. Another reason why I love her books. There’s always something thrown at you you never thought about!!

Hear me out: This is a super quick super exciting read where every single character is deliciously evil, which I'm super down for. But. There is a pretty gross theme that she stopped teasing and just went for by the end and I'm not comfortable finding entertainment in this particular topic.

What a book to start the year off with! Absolutely love me some Freida! She never disappoints. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen, a huge plot twist right at the end of the book. This one sure did not disappoint. I had a few inclinations on what I thought would happen and I was correct but the ending was a total shock! Loved loved loved this book and I can’t wait for the next!

Did I like this book: yes. Did I love this book: no. Would I read another book by McFadden: for sure. So my biggest complaint with this book is that it feels like a Lifetime movie. Plot twists, but mostly predictable. Character development is lacking, but not terrible. A good story, but totally not realistic or believable. But at the end of the day, sometimes you want a little fun without having to think too hard, and this book provided that for me.

All I can say is….WOW!! This is by far one of the best books Freida has written!! The twists in this book had me gasping! (Which very rarely happens, I can normally figure out plots very easily) This book made me feel all types of emotions such as anger, sadness, disgust and trauma. Highly recommend!!

Frieda never disappoints!
I never saw that ending coming!
Such a good book, a real rollercoaster of events and twists!

Freida does it again!! Her easy to read and follow books make for quick reads - The Teacher being no exception. The book contains three parts, each having dual viewpoints including those from: Addie, high school student; Mrs. Bennett, high school math teacher; and Mrs. Bennett's husband and fellow high school english teacher, Mr. Bennett. Do student-teacher affairs really turn into anything more than just that, an affair? Addie sure thinks so and her teacher is seemingly on the same page. To what lengths will they go to make sure this happens?? It did take a good 2/3 into the book before the twists came followed by a mind-blowing epilogue! Usually, during Freida's books, I form a guess as to what will happen and am always wrong, and with this one, I didn't even have any guesses!

A huge thank you to Freida, Poseidon Press, and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

You know that little reading voice you have in your head? Mine screamed, several times while reading The Teacher. The screaming in my head was so loud it vibrated my brain. From the Prologue, the story, and specially the Epilogue I was hooked! I loved this book so much, it’s definitely in my top 3 Freida favorite category. I’ve read all of her books and this one has to be one of my favorites. There were a few times I felt the need to check my blood pressure while reading. The characters will chew you up and spit you out with their antics during this emotional rollercoaster of a book, and I loved every moment of it. Freida McFadden, you have done it again!! Thank you for these twisty masterpieces you create, I am so grateful! Thank you NetGalley, publisher, and a very special thank you to Freida McFadden for being so amazingly talented!!

I recieved a ARC from netgalley and poisonedpenpressed for this review.
Overall the book was okay but definitely not one of her best in my opinion. The prologue was great but they story was a little slow to start as to be expected with the character development and everything was going good until I got towards the end of the book. It started to become too over the top and unbelievable and then came the epilogue and that ruined the whole book for me. It was so unbelievable and just a little too far out there to end the book on. It left me not enjoying the book at all really.

To the world, Eve and Nate seem like a happily married couple. They are teachers at the same high school, have a lovely home, beautiful shoes, and are trying for a child. As is often the case, however, things are not what they seem.

Addie is a lonely girl who is a student in both Eve's math class and Nate's writing class. Addie was involved in a scandal with a teacher last year, but insists nothing in appropriate happened. Nevertheless, rumors abound.

The Teacher is told through alternating view points, first those of Eve and Addie, then it switches to Nate and Addie. The story starts in the usual way and builds to an expected point. Then you get to the second half of the book and things take a turn! The mystery intensifies, you begin to question what you thought you knew, and you can't stop reading.

With it's fast pace, smooth writing, engaging characters, and short chapters, The Teacher will keep you engaged from the foretelling prologue through the final reveal.

Thanks to Poisoned Pen Press (that name seems fitting for this book!) and NetGalley for the egalley copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Eve, A math high school teacher with a designer shoe addiction and a handsome husband who happens to be an English teacher at the same high school. The novel is for the most part set at a high school and there’s a lot of bullying going on.
When a student becomes obsessed with her husband things start to become dangerous. Although Eve has her own secrets she despises her husband for getting close to his students.
The story is told from the perspective of multiple characters. My favorite character was Eve because I could definetly relate to her love for designer shoes. I had a feeling that Eve’s way of coping with her bad marriage was trough shoe shopping.
Well I promise you the story will end with a shocking twist so grab yourself a copy and start reading. The small chapters will make you fly trough the novel.

I love reading Freida McFadden books when I’m looking for a break from romance books!

This book had me hooked from the prologue, trying to figure out who did it. There were so many unexpected twists that kept me guessing until the very end!

Such a quick and fun read, probably my new favorite Freida book.

Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC!

Once again Frieda McFadden surprised me with the twists! I had my jaw drop so much, especially at the end! I can now wait for my family to read this so we can discuss it! Great read that you don’t want to put down!

Another winner for Freida McFadden and fans!

A quick and enthralling read. A number of jaw-dropping twists and as usual, the reader will never predict the ending. I cannot wait for the release date so everyone can enjoy!

Although this book started slowly, once it got moving, it held my attention. Eve and Nate have an outwardly perfect marriage, but Eve wants more and doesn't always feel that Nate can give her what she wants. It is sometimes a bit contrived, but the storyline is gripping and interesting including affairs, mystery, and intrigue.

I’m rounding up for this one - 4 stars! Some parts of this book had me wanting to scream at the characters and there were a few kinda far fetched twists. But overall Freida has done it again with a fast paced story about two teachers whose lives seem perfect from the outside.
Thank you Netgalley for the digital ARC!

Freida can always get me out of my reading slump! I haven’t read a book since the beginning of November and could not put this book down. As an educator, I love to read books set in schools. Freida definitely does the setting justice and doesn’t romanticize a teacher’s job.
The story is told from alternating POVs. Eve is a teacher at Caseham High, and Addie is a student. Addie is fresh off a scandal involving another teacher and is a student in Eve’s class. Because of the scandal, Addie is ostracized and bullied by the other students.
To tangle the web further, Addie is also a student in Eve’s husband’s class. It seems like history is about to repeat itself…
Thank you to Freida’s reader group and netgalley for a special review copy!
