Wow, this book was brilliant. I couldn't put it down. So many twists and turns. This book is all about revenge . Ending was absolutely brilliant.
First of all, I would like to thank NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book.
This was my first Freida McFadden book, and she definitely lives up to the hype I have heard! I have already added 4 of her other books on my ever-growing TBR.
The Teacher starts out innocent enough. We meet Eve and Nate a seemingly happy couple who both teach at the local high school. We also meet Addie, one of the students at their school who was involved in a scandal the year before. Eve is not thrilled about Addie being in her class, but Nate seems to like her. Addie is the cause of a lot of the school drama, and she starts to cause a rift in Eve & Nate's relationship.
Addie isn't exactly innocent, though. And she's certainly not who she seems. As we learn more and more about Addie and the truth of her past comes to light, the web of lies and secrets between Eve and Nate (and Addie) get more complex and the game become more dangerous for everyone. There is a lot of foreshadowing in this book and a fierce dynamic and power-struggle between the 3 main characters. McFadden doesn't disappoint with a sprinkling of jaw-dropping twists and turns, and an epilogue that will answer some questions, but also leave you a bit confused and befuddled (in a good way).
I loved this book and I will absolutely be recommending this book to my book club and my thriller-loving friends. I don't know why I didn't jump on the Freida McFadden train sooner! I'm hooked!
The Teacher by Freida McFadden is just what you think it is. A creepy teacher taking part in an inappropriate relationship (make that 2 creepy teachers both in inappropriate relationships). Add in secrets, lies, cheating, shoe obsessions, teen drama, and a small twist at the end that I probably should have seen coming but didn't. This was my first McFadden book and while I didn't love the subject matter in this particular selection (I would have rated it higher if it wasn't for this subject), I can see why she is so popular. This was a quick and easy read that pulls the reader in from the first page and while it was my first by Ms McFadden, it won't be my last.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.
What in the world?
This is possibly the worst book that I have ever read. That epilogue was just, terrible.
Bummed, because the author is quite popular and after that, I don't want to ever read anything by her again.
"Deny everything"
Freida McFadden has seriously done it again. Whenever I pick up one of her books, I finish it the same day! The Teacher was addictive and twisty. Eve and her husband Nate are both high school teachers where Addie is a student. Addie was involved in a pretty serious scandal that leaves her an outcast. Their lives are intertwined and nothing is what it seems. Seriously, that plot twist and then the epilogue?!
Thank you netgalley for the ARC!
The Teacher
By: Freida McFadden
I was so happy to receive this through NetGalley. I absolutely loved this book. I love Freida and her style of writing so I was immediately hooked. Every chapter left in a cliffhanger and left me wanting to know more. This was such an easy read for me, I read it in one sitting. I rated this book a 5 star and I would definitely reread it again. The twist at the end was golden. I did not see that coming at all.
This author always keeps me hooked from beginning to end. Admittedly had to re read the twist at the end twice just because I had to make sure I was reading that right! A book that will have you flying through the pages !
This is why I’m a huge Freida fan!! I am always recommending her books for her twists! I definitely did not see the twist coming as per usual!!
This is my first Freida McFadden book, and if this is her worst (as I've heard), then I am stunned! I read this book in two sittings, and when I had to put it down to focus on my actual responsibilities (eye roll), I could not stop thinking about it! Half the time, I wasn't even sure if I actually *liked* the characters, but I think in the end, each had some likable qualities. I will say, this book was slow at the beginning and I truly did not know where it was headed. I figured out part of the mystery about 3/4 of the way through, but the epilogue had me stunned! Despite what others say, I enjoyed how it ended, though I am still asking myself some questions about it. Overall, I would recommend this one!
Das meiner Meinung nach spannendste Buch von Freida McFadden - bisher.
Ich bin jedes Mal wieder total überfahren von den Twists, die alles bisher Gelesene in einem neuen und völlig anderen Licht erscheinen lassen.
Oh my lanta!!!! Nate is the worst! Freida did an amazing job at creating the most insufferable character I have ever read. I wanted to throw the book. Strangle him. Addys side of the story was so uncomfortably accurate to how I felt as a teenager.
Frieda never disappoints in the thrills! Every Frieda novel that I read has me consistently guessing to the very end. This story had a major twist in the epilogue that I did not see coming at all! I would definitely recommend this to any thriller/mystery reader. It will be a very perfect spring break or vacation read.
Disclaimer - Freida McFadden is one of my favorite authors, so I knew I'd be into whatever this book turned out to be. I loved this book and definitely didn’t predict the way it all came together. I was kept engaged and on my toes the whole time.
THIS IS WHY I AM A FRIEDA READER! As a teacher, I was desperate to read this title, however it was completely not what I expected. This book was dark, captivating and endlessly addictive. Like her other books, I absolutely could not put this down for one second. When I did, my mind was filled with thoughts of ‘what is going to happen next!?’. Needless to say that my predictions were way off the mark. That final twist had me REELING. McFadden truly is the queen of psychological thrillers.
Absolute great read!! It has the twist at the end that leaves your jaw dropped!! I recommend it to everyone!!! It does have those icky cringe storylines but if you can get past that then you will enjoy it. I read it in one day! 5 star book.
Okay, I have mixed feelings. This book was the definition of a “popcorn thriller.” Like, couldn’t look away. I read it in 24 hours and was so invested in what would happen next. But the fact that the plot of this story is focused on an inappropriate teacher/student relationship + grooming teenagers “gave me the ick” as they say. I don’t know. I think Frieda McFadden is pushing out quantity over quality in recent years.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
2.5. Not my favorite book by her. It has nothing to do with the author or her writing. I believe it’s because I’m a high school teacher and just the thought of what happened in this book just made me sick. I had a hard time reading it knowing stuff like this happens in real life. It happened recently at my school where a former student/victim came forward a number of years later as an adult. The teacher who was well liked and respected was immediately arrested and let go. It just hit too close to home for me. If you're a teacher, you may find this difficult. If you're not, you will likely enjoy this for what it is. A story.
Thank you, NetGalley, for an e-ARC of The Teacher by Freida McFadden.
In true Freida McFadden style, this book contains characters that reader loves to hate and plots that make you cringe. However, McFadden has a way of making you want to read on and keep coming back for more. The big twist at the end of this book was a bit too cringey for my taste, but overall it was a decent read.

The Teacher - Freida McFadden
5/5⭐️
✨✨✨✨✨✨
I’m definitely a lover a Freida McFadden Books and every one I read becomes my new favorite! I was so happy to see I got sent this one! Usually when I read thrillers I love to predict what is going to happen and with this one it just kept surprising me.
Eve and Nate have been married for some time now and definitely having their issues. They both are high school teachers. Eve has a big love for fancy heels and she tends to hide how many she’s really getting. Eve is nervous to go back to school this year because her husband and her both have Addie in their classes. Addie caused a huge scandal last year with a teacher and it just doesn’t sit right with Eve.
What happens at the end I was truly not ready for!

i'm a huge freida fan but this one was very disappointing.
MINOR SPOILERS
i am not into the infidelity trope, especially when it has to do with young people around 18. freida writes some really insufferable/chaotic women in her stories which i tend to like (i support women's wrongs) but each woman in this story was just so....bad. like so supremely unlikable it was hard for me to finish the story. the men? don't get me started.
not a fan at all, really was just trying not to skim the pages.
