This is a short but hot read. Logan and Eva have some insane chemistry once he finally gets past the age difference. And it was most definitely hot. The Daddy kink is on the light side, but I actually prefer that. Not that a full on Daddy book isn't good, but it's not my full on kink. The characters were likable and the story was also good, I just wish it had been longer. The ending seemed a little rushed just due to the length of the story. Otherwise, I was completely into it!

Take Me to Your Best Friend's House by Setta Jay is Book 1 in the Mmm, Daddy, Daddy series, which seems to be shaping up to be a series of standalone contemporary taboo-esque erotic romances in a shared universe.

Our FMC Eva has been in love, and in lust, with her best friend’s dad, our MMC Logan, for most of her young adult life. Now 21 years, still a virgin, and seemingly no closer to making any sort of headway with Logan, Eva decides enough is enough and plots to lose her virginity and then attend sessions at a local sex club, where she’ll be able to explore her uncharted-until-now Daddy kink fantasies. But when Logan gets wind of the plan, he knows that if Eva wants a Daddy for a week to sate her curiosity, it’ll be him or no one.

I think this is a great novella if you’re looking for a beginner’s exploration of the Daddy kink in spice. It highlighted it in a general and recreational way, where it was posed as a fun element added to sex versus following a set of rules or guidelines, such as full-blown domination/submission. I wouldn’t even classify this as BDSM-type smut. Eva preferred the Daddy kink in name, as well as the lighter parts of it like a focus on dirty talk and good girl praise, rather than punishments or pain-pleasure play. Logan also touched on his enjoyment of the post-caretaking aspect. There was also a spicy scene that had anal play.

While the premise itself touched on a slightly taboo-esque romance, I never felt that sense of true forbidden-ness while reading, which I know a lot of readers enjoy in this genre. So, if you’re looking for a true taboo romance where things really feel illicit and forbidden, this wouldn’t be it. But as I said with the Daddy kink, if you’re just dipping your toes in a taboo exploration, this could be a good starting place.

I understand with the constraint of ~100 pages there’s only so much you can include; I really wish we would’ve gotten more initial build-up between Eva and Logan. I really wanted to feel the tension, feel the mutual pining, feel the “it’s so obvious why don’t they just fuck” energy, but I didn’t get those vibes until after the actual physical attraction was consummated. The lead up to sex or to a relationship, the push/pull dynamics, can be just as delicious as the act or relationship itself. And while the sex here was hot without being overly dirty or drawn out, I would’ve appreciated a bit more time on the build-up. Maybe even a flashback or two to have gotten a sense of how Eva and Logan interact with each other normally, to see the mutual pining in action, so that when they did ultimately come together, the reader could appreciate it in all its glory. So, I definitely think with more character backstory, tension, and description language, this could’ve also worked as a full length novel.

The ending and epilogue also felt a little rushed, but definitely will chalk that up to page count.

But reviewing it for the novella that it is, this was a fun read that explored the lighter side of Daddy kink. If you’re a romance reader that doesn’t like to go from 0-100 but also does enjoy a twinge of taboo/kink, this can be a great read for you🩷

First things first, i want to live in the mansion that they spent the week in. Setta made it feel like it was something out of bridgerton, the whole romantic setup was cute and all the flowers that Logan arranged were adorable 🌸 but that was probably the only thing i liked about the book.

There was too much “sweetheart” and it was way too soppy. Eva felt too naive and Logan was too soft.

It was very smutty for such a short book, so if you’re looking for a short, spicy, soppy romance, this is the book for you :))

I enjoyed this novella! It was written well and was short and fun to read. It was very spicy and had a good story. Eva was the perfect balance of sweet and adventurous to keep me interested in the story, without getting bored. And who wouldn’t be into that older guy?! 👌🏼

Take Me to Your Beat Friend’s House is a short daddy-kind erotica with a virgin female lead who is in love with her best friends daddy. The spicy scenes were just that, SPICY but everything seemed rushed.

If I ever hear a man refer to a vagina as “kitty” ever again it’ll be too soon……

Really though - this was fun. It was exactly what it promised to be: a short, smutty time. It was fun, it was hot, it required exactly zero active thoughts.

It seems like she’s setting up a pretty run of the mill smutty novella series. Looks like there’s a step sibling romance coming, as well as maybe another best friend’s dad romance? Either way, I love a smutty novella series so I look forward to what’s to come!

When you’ve lived your whole life with a close knit family & friend group, sometimes you find yourself in difficult situations. Eva’s difficult situation is that she’s had a crush on her best friend’s dad & her dad’s best friend for several years. But it was a crush she knew would never go anywhere.

At twenty-one, Eva is determined to rid herself of the dreaded v-card. She’s resorted to attending a particular type of club to remedy herself of her “burden”.

Logan has found himself noticing Eva a little more than a friend’s dad should since she was 18. He finds himself constantly removing himself from situations that may arise. But when he hears of her plan to visit a club, he decides its time to put his foot down.

The connection between Logan & Eva always seemed to be a little more than friendly. They kind of just worked well. Though it wasn’t romantically at first, their transition into the relationship was flawless. Eva’s naïveté was expected as she’s very young, but the way that Logan took it in stride and matched her innocence with his knowledge & willingness to teach was perfect.

This book was sweet & smutty with a pretty decent age gap. Eva’s “confidence” in her maturity irked me a bit as she was the epitome of naive to me. But her daddy kink fantasies refused to be ignored. I’m just glad that Logan was able to show her enough care to be exactly what she needed.

This was a quick and easy read FULL of spice. Eva and Logan’s relationship started very early in the novella and was sweet and sexy all at once.

I love how even though Eva had a daddy kink because she loved the idea of pleasing Logan, Logan still made sure she was cared for and cherished.

I love the daddy trope/age gap trope so I’ve read quite a few books with those in it. I was really excited to read this book, unfortunately I had to DNF. I couldn’t get past how cringy the beginning was. I don’t by any means want to be rude or nit-picky but this book is just not for me.

Setta Jay writes steamy sex scenes and as you can probably tell from the title this is no different. If you’re into daddy kink this is one of the better novellas for that.

I am such a sucker for an age-gap romance and this book definitely had that. That was a big draw into why I was interested in the book. Have you seen the cover?!?! This book was spicy!
Some things that I did not enjoy about the book was when he called it her "kitty". *throw-up emoji* I am all for calling older men daddy, but my goodness it was annoying with how often she called him that. I understand we are under the umbrella of novella, but how quickly both the FMC and MMC were going to move in and tell her parents, it just didn't work for me. There is also no friend who would say "Sure, sleep with my dad".

There was so many things that I found myself enjoying about this novella! The spice was off the charts! Logan was a sweetheart and really took into consideration how Eva felt and made sure she was comfortable, as well as doing his own research into everything. Eva knew what she wanted out of their arrangement and she made sure that she got it all! I thought Eva’s mum & dad’s reaction was very valid and real, but they were both supportive of her as well and that was great to see.

If the Daddy kink is for you, I would 100% recommend this novella!

I finished this novella in about 4 hours it was a quick read and kept me hooked.

My goodness, this one had me clutching my pearls at times. This was my first "Daddy kink" story and boy, was it steamy. It had all the things, age gap, forbidden romance, and kinky fantasies. I was very happy for the epilogue, I was going to be so mad if this left me hanging but it didn't.

Quick very spicy novella, it was interesting how everyone around them was so accepting of their relationship epically the daughter of the MMC.

This started off well for me but then the relationship between the two main characters became more cringe than romantic for me. the way logan spoke made me feel ick.

Whoa! This book was hot! I've always enjoyed a good older man/younger woman trope and I have to say this one is my favorite. I loved that the author kept a more realistic approach. A lot of the time, books in this trope are bit over the top or silly and I was thrilled to find that the characters in this one were mature and more relatable. Plus, it was a super hot read. I'm really looking forward to more in the series.

A quick preface: I am VERY NEW to the intense smut side of reading, so this was...something.
I picked up the book because I'd heard good things about the author and I instantly recognized the Grouplove song reference in this book's title. I did read the summary and still felt inclined to break out of my genre box and read it. Here are my thoughts :)

1. It was cool that this is a novella. I don't think I would've hung around for a book longer than what it was, so it's nice that she can tell a full story in less pages. Good on her for that!
2. I am NOT fit for reading this particular kink. It made me feel icky inside, but I'm understanding enough about it to know that some people do enjoy this, and if that's the case, those readers are sure to have fun with this novella!
3. The pacing of this novella was exquisite. I blinked and was 20, 40, 60, etc pages through. Certain authors cannot pull that off, but Setta Jay does!
4. Overall I'm giving it 4/5 stars because if I separate the fact that I'm likely not best suited for this genre, it reads very well. She writes organically, has good diction that makes turning the pages feel seamless, and creates likable characters you want to root for, even if their decision making isn't entirely wise haha. I also personally believe that the fmc's friend is absolutely insane to be okay with the relationship dynamic in this book, but that's just me lol.

Again, very grateful to have gotten to read this in advance! Just because it wasn't my cup of tea doesn't mean I can't appreciate that others will find this story engaging, enticing, and enjoyable!
