Ich weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht, wie ich dieses Buch bewerten soll, da ich es aufgrund relativ kurzer Ausleihdauer (ohne Verlängerung) nicht lesen konnte.

I Love Musicals!

I’m all for Musicals. They bring you into a different setting and I usually can’t keep a smile off my face! I have seen over 150+ productions and definitely have my favorites and have ones I definitely am not a fan of.

The ones I’m most critical of always fall on the ones depicting the Bible in anyway. Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar. I’m not a fan of some of the above or any Musical that is irreverent in any way. Not saying this is irreverent.

I’m still not sure what to think of this musical in book/audio format. The 15 Original songs are very entertaining. It is different to get in to. Still processing.

I will update this as I process a bit longer.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.

Such a fancinating and fun retelling of the good Samaritan!!!

This was such an incredible audiobook! I really felt like I was transported to a whole new musical, the narrator was simply absolutely phenomenal! The book itself was also done so well, keeping my attention throught the entire story and painting such a richly detailed world! I'd absolutely recommend this to anyone especially my fellow Christians!

Summary:
Symphony of Life: A Musical Retelling of The Good Samaritan mostly tells the story of Joel, a corrupt tax collector who’s in desperate need of a swift kick in the pants. Joel is the focus of the story but we also see and get the POV of individuals in the Market that Joel highly taxes.

My thoughts:

Symphony of Life: A Musical Retelling of The Good Samaritan was a quick read. I didn't like Joel's character but we are not suppose to like him. The book is written in the POV of about 4 or 5 people. I enjoyed some character more than others. I don't normally like have more than 3 POVs but it worked with Symphony of Life. I would have liked to see the Symphony of Life as a musical in real life.

Thank you NetGalley and Skinny Leg Press of the complimentary copy of the ebook and audiobook of Symphony of Life.

What a beautiful story filled with rich characters and plot! The dialogue is deliciously fun, making the characters so much more real. The songs are truly worthy of Broadway and give a richness to it that doesn’t come in other books. A deeply spiritual tale that blossoms more than preaches.. I loved loved loved the ending and all the pieces falling into place…things aren’t always what they seem. My only complaint is that this would probably be even more amazing as an audio book, as I only had the chance to read it. Totally worth the read!!!

I listened to the musical audiobook of this novel and the musical aspect is so cool! I didn’t expect to really like this but the music was beautiful and the story entertaining. Normally I wouldn’t pick up a book like this, but this one was a happy surprise!

I have mixed feelings about this book. I generally enjoyed the story and music, however, I found it difficult to get into, and having to go back and forth between the book and the music was a little distracting too. I think this might have been better as an audiobook with the music built right in.
I did generally enjoy the music, and the story was an interesting weaving together of several of the parables of Jesus and other stories from his ministry. The author definitely took liberties with how the stories fit together but I didn't feel like it changed the meaning of the stories, or affected the theology involved.
I would recommend this book for those who enjoy musicals.

I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
