I really wanted to like this novel but the setting (Finland) was the part that I engaged with the most. I suspect this book will appeal to many but it just was not for me.

Thank God this was a short read - not easy, but short. I'm shocked at all the 4 and 5 star reviews of this one, but clearly I'm outside the norm on this one. The characters were simply stupid. I had zero connection with Louise, and couldn't even find sympathy for her situation. Her obsession was laughable, and her attempts to take her life back had me wanting to scream at her through the pages for her ridiculous behavior. The single star I gave this one is strictly because I have to give it something; I found nothing redeeming about this book whatsoever.
