Thank you for the book in exchange for my honest review.
Initially, I had high hopes for this one, due to the unique plot, the cover, and the title. However, I slowly lost interest as the story went on — the plot lacked enthusiasm, for me at least. It’s cute if you like rekindled romance and family drama. I never rate a book less than one or two stars anymore, so I’m giving this one three stars.
Super cute Holiday Romance without beating you over the head with Christmas. It was satisfying and let me feeling warm and fuzzy. The descriptions painted an easy picture and added to the overall vibe of the story. I am not one to show much emotion while reading but this one made me chuckle in several instances. The main character was very relatable and made me feel like I was reading about myself at points. The main character was considered bigger than average, but she did not feel sorry for herself, and it wasn't a big deal made about it which I really liked. Overall, I would definitely recommend this, if you are looking for a quick Romance that will make you feel good inside.
this sweet holiday rom-com follows a baker and the towns new mystery man. i thought this book was very cute and definitely a sweet read. the characters all were very dynamic and even though the story was at times hard to get into it wrapped up very nicely. this book felt like a hallmark movie on a December day!
'One Sweet Holiday' follows Gwen Griffin as she attempts to survive the holiday season in her small town. Preparing for her sister's wedding, her mother's holiday party, and the town auction, Gwen is bombarded with her cafe as well as the town's rumor mill. Being single in the holidays is Gwen's worst nightmare. Enter Logan Fyfe, a Scottish millionaire who moves in next door and her sister's fiance's friend. Gwen and Logan end up in a fake-dating scenario while navigating whether the feelings go beyond fake. This was a quick holiday read that is perfect for a cozy, snowy day!
A classic rom-com custom-made for a Hallmark movie.
Logan, with his rippling muscles and Irish brogue, sweeps into Jasmine Falls to escape his family under the pretense of attending a college buddy's wedding. The Maid-of-Honor and next-door-neighbor, Gwen, is a baking extraordinaire that lacks confidence due to a failed engagement and less than supportive parents.
With class holiday themes events around the small town, Logan and Gwen's many tropes (fake relationship, different social classes, holiday fling) lead readers down a lighthearted, feel good path to finding true love. Aside from the many food based similes, there's not much about this book that I didn't enjoy...
Overall: 4.5 stars
I'll tell my students about: language, sex, alcohol, death
**Thank you to NetGalley and Blue Crow Publishing for the free ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.**
This one was super cute - I am not really a lovey dovey reader, not much of a rom com reader but i loved the main characters, the chemistry and everthing in between.
Would recommend
4 stars
I did not think I was a romance girlie, I read this to mark a space on my bookish bingo card. I can confirm now I am a romance girlie. I read this book in a day, I couldn't put it down. It wasn't until I was finished I discovered it's 3rd in a series but I feel like that doesn't matter here. I slept on it before rating and reviewing because first I thought wow 5 stars, then I over analyzed it and was like maybe it's 4 stars. Was it perfect? Who can say. Maybe the things I was slightly annoyed with are just par for romance books (I am new here after all). The use of full names and nicknames (Lancelot? Stop it.) Pet names (sweetheart, gorgeous) doesn't do much for me. Also the already tall FMC meets a man who towers over her and the he meets her friends who then tower over him. Does not compute. I know it sounds like I didn't like it but I did. I was giggling and smiling like a fool over how cute and cozy this was. There wasn't spice like I was expecting, just mild "almosts" so if you're looking for spice, this isn't for you. I also actually liked Gwen (FMC), I could relate to her, her family issues, heartbreak, not being able to ask for help, not wanting to be rescued. I loved the way Logan (MMC) spoke to her and about her. I love the he falls first trope. I also apparently like fake dating. This book didn't have any dramatic plot twists, if you think it's going to happen it happens pretty much.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I would have enjoyed the book more if the characters were more multi-dimensional. I found Logan to be unrealistic and way out there. I’m sure many readers will enjoy it but it wasn’t really for me.
Sometimes a holiday rom-com is a lovely way to sweeten up this sometimes stressful season.
In this story, the main character Gwen owns a bakery in her hometown of Jasmine Falls. Gwen suffers from some self doubt in business, and in love, as her ex-fiancé ended their engagement right before their wedding. When her sister’s upcoming wedding means that the wealthy, handsome Scotsman Logan Fyfe, an old college friend of the groom, shows up in town for a few weeks before the wedding, the story kicks off into high drive.
This story will appeal to fans of closed door romances and the insta-love trope. The story addresses the challenges of difficult family relationships which was very well done. I enjoyed one sweet holiday.

If you are looking for a wholesome, warming, funny love story then look no further! This book was enjoyable and fun to read, with relatable characters and a great storyline full of positivity and enthusiasm.
I would definitely recommend it for your TBR lists. I am so glad I discovered this author and I can’t wait to read more of her books.
I appreciate the opportunity to read this ARC and give an honest review.
I was really excited to read a holiday book about fake dating, but found it lacking on both the holiday theme as well as the fake dating. However, if you are looking for an Insta-love story where a hot billionaire “completes” a female lead despite her endless self loathing then this is for you! This was definitely an easy read, but not at the top of my list.
Things that worked: doting male MC with a calming presence, the baking references, holiday vibes (although I do think this book could have used more scenes like the friend’s Christmas party), a lovely & supportive sister relationship
Things that didn’t work for me: the nicknames she game the guy (Lancelot, Bond, hot Scot.. sadly none of these did it for me), the fact they “loved” each other after just a few weeks with very little chemistry imo (I think I need at least one sex scene to fully enjoy a romance.. not just “steamy kissing”), the pointless side plots... ie the mom’s bullying, the grandpa dying/family business narrative, and the sister leaving her husband at the alter. I would have rather had less of the side stories and more material that helped me connect with the love story.
I’m usually not a fan of closed door romance but this was too cute, and was saved by the fake dating - one of my fav tropes. Add in a little Christmas spirit, and I’m here for it. It’s literally a hallmark movie and sometimes, that’s just what you need.
I really enjoyed this book, and am so glad I discovered this author. Looking forward to reading more from Lucy Day.
Both leading characters are so full of depth that you are drawn to keep reading about them. I liked how the romance developed and how Logan helped Gwen to learn to feel better about herself and her need to constantly put others first. He is dealing with his own family issues but doesn’t stop him from putting himself out in lots of little ways to show his love for her.
Give me all the Christmas Romances! I just love this cover. I just wanted to hug Gwen. I know she is super happy for her sister getting married but it is also hard on her since her wedding did not go as planned. Then her sister's husband to be thinks it's a good idea to invite Gwen's ex to the wedding. Why even!!?? Thank goodness for the hot guy neighbor Logan! He is just perfect for Gwen. I cannot wait to read more from this author. Thank you to NetGalley and Blue Crow Publishing for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
Give me alll the FAKE DATING tropes! I honestly love them and this book did it so well!!!! Throw in a Scotsman as well, then who am I to not love this book? It made me laugh and just generally gave me all the feels and it was just so cute!
Small town, fake dating trope at its best!
Gwen is a small town bakery owner who is need of a date for her sisters wedding. Enter Logan, the handsome Scotsman who is up for the role.
Set against a Christmas backdrop, this is a fun and easy going romcom that has real depth too.
The characters feel real and relatable and Gwen and Logan’s chemistry is perfect. Logan is definitely going to appear on a few booksta boyfriend lists!
A great seasonal read.

Fake dating, Small town and drama will always be a win for me.
Despite being such opposites, Gwen and Logan were meant to be together. Logan's support for her was quite sweet and demonstrated his love for her.
I thought Logan's accent and patience were incredibly attractive, and gwen with relatable traits.
Even though the plot's direction might have been predicted with some ease, it was nonetheless a very lovely diversion. nice cosyread great for the holidays
I really enjoyed this read. I loved how relatable both characters were and that we were able to join along as they worked through some of their anxieties. The romance was so sweet and it made for a perfect holiday read!
One Sweet Holiday is a fun, sweet rom-com. I enjoyed its lightheartedness. Gwen meets a Scottish bazillionaire when he arrives in town to attend her sister's wedding. As neighbors, they are thrown together in a variety of situations and fall hard for each other. I enjoyed the fact that the conflict which threatens the romance wasn't heavy handed or overly dramatic. The characters worked through the conflict and ended on the right side of love.
This book is a fun read!
‘Tis the season for holiday romances, and One Sweet Holiday gets you off to a good start!
In many ways, it is a simple novel: Gwen, a small-town baker, is busy designing a cake for her baby sister’s wedding, getting all her client’s Christmas’ orders ready, and dealing with an overbearing mother who has made it her mission to see her daughter with a date. And then, enters Logan—a handsome, Scottish entrepreneur who needs to get away from his family to make a tough business decision. But, of course, that goal is thrown out the window when he meets Gwen and is instantly charmed by her. Even though there is undeniable chemistry between them, what truly brings them together is how they both struggle to balance pleasing their families while leading the life they want. Their sweet friendship develops quickly, and soon we are introduced to our fake-dating trope when Logan becomes Gwen’s date to the wedding. You know the drill on how it goes after this, BUT I was caught by surprise when I found myself truly intrigued about how things were going to be solved at the end.
Something I really loved about Day’s writing is her protagonist: with stories that rely so heavily on tropes, characters often fall flat or become too one-dimensional. I loved there was more of an essence to Gwen: she speaks her mind, she communicates, she has body-image issues but doesn’t make it her whole personality, she has friends and a life separate from the love interest. She felt like a woman I’d know. While I didn’t get the same roundness from Logan, his POV was still interesting and made me appreciate him as a character. This leads me to another thing I enjoyed from this novel, which is that there is no huge drama lurking behind the scenes, or one big event that will threaten the characters’ relationship. What drives the plot are the normal fantasies/insecurities/struggles anybody encounters at the beginning of all relationships, and to me that made the story a lot sweeter, funnier, and enjoyable.
My one and only comment on this novel is repetition. Both Gwen and Logan bring up their mother’s obsession with them finding partners very often and, even though it is what ends up pushing the fake-dating trope, it is brought up and over-explained in many instances by both characters.
A great read to get the Christmas-y feeling started.
