This was the small town romance I didn’t know I needed. I am in love with Logan Fyfe’s knight-in-shining armour approach and Gwen Griffin’s do-everything-yourself style! To say opposites attract would be an understatement. Day’s voice for both her FMC and MMC is authentic amongst all the outlandish Christmassy hijinks thrown in Gwen’s path - particularly all the grief and stress given to her by her mother! I will definitely be looking into more of Day’s work in the new year!
This was a pretty cute, if not predictable (as they all are) Christmas romance where meeting a hot stranger quickly turns into more. They both clearly cared about each other quickly and wanted to help, and I did like that Logan wanted to make Gwen feel cared for and that she doesn't have to handle everything alone, but I also felt that a lot of plot points were played out in a kind of forced way to fit the narrative eg I don't understand why Gwen's parents were painted as villains for rightly stating they didn't get the cake flavour they ordered? Yeah, they're dickheads anyway but it was unprofessional. And Logan saying it's fine because 6 of his business ventures have failed was wildly not helpful considering he's rich af. No one seemed to be realistic about it and told Gwen to 'just stop worrying' when frankly she should be?? And can characters stop assuming things when they've literally just been told the opposite, it's frustrating as hell.
I found there was some phrases that were repeated a lot - it got rather boring reading both of them saying they've caught feelings but he doesn’t live there blah blah blah or their individual family issues over and over again. I felt like the book was stuck in a loop for the most part and got a bit stagnant - but I am someone who prefers a quicker pace.
Overall, it was a decent Christmas romance. My favourite scene was the Christmas jumper party, and I wish that the joy and friendship in that party lasted a bit longer. It had a nice ending and I admit it was easy to imagine the scenes described throughout. Thank you to netgalley for the arc.
This was a sweet holiday read!
Gwen and Logan were a great couple, and watching them get their HEA was a fun read. I enjoyed that the drama and angst was kept to a minimum.
This was a great read to get me into the holiday spirit!
Thanks so much to Blue Crow Publishing and Lucy Day for the ARC! I'm always a sucker for a good Christmas story and a Happily ever after. I loved reading about Gwen and Logan's story. They were so cute and I can't wait to read the rest of the Jasmine Falls books!
3.5/5
One Sweet Holiday was such a sweet story, great for getting you in the holiday mood.
Even though Gwen wasn’t as much into Christmas, it was for a relatable reason that being around family during the holidays can be hard for some. And wow, her mom was a piece of work, having so many high expectations and comparing her so much to her sister. When Logan comes in it's very much insta love for them but I liked the way they interacted.
Then Logan started to help her find a work/life balance and that set a nice beginning for their relationship. I like how he was also able to make his own decisions without caving to his family’s pressure, while having his brother's support. I do think he was the one who was the most reassuring and offered support constantly. I get that she was facing all her insecurities but it seemed mostly one sided. Overall it was an easy and fun read.
Thank you to NetGalley, Blue Crow Publishing and Lucy Day for the opportunity to read this book.
This is a really cute, holiday themed book. There’s a lot of romance, but the spice is pretty clean. I absolutely love the main character, Logan, and his support and love for the female main character. This is a sweet story and actually wish it would have been a little bit longer.
The perfect, sweet, fake-dating romance holiday read! I loved the mix of the small-town setting in South Carolina during the holidays, with an out-of-town billionaire Scottish guest! Throw in a wedding setting, enjoyable secondary characters, and small town charm, you have the perfect set up for a romance winner. The steam is fade to black/closed door, but the author does a wonderful job building banter and tension without on-page spice. I think my favorite part was the lack of a third act breakup, AND having both characters POV and desire to support one another with maturity. Overall , this was a quick and fun romance with a holiday setting.
I really enjoyed this book! Such a cute, fun, holiday romcom! I give this one all the heart eyes!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!
Well, this was just a delight of a read. It was like reading a Hallmark Christmas movie, and I say that as a compliment. The story focuses on Gwen and Logan. Gwen runs a cafe in her hometown, and she's questing after approval from a variety of humans. Logan, a wealthy out-of-towner (I told you there were Hallmark vibes), shows up looking for an escape. Gwen needs a fake date for her sister's upcoming wedding, and Logan seems to fit the bill. As you can probably infer, things go from there. What I loved about this one that it wasn't just romance, but also Gwen figuring out her way with life and work and things/people she loves. It just put a smile on my face, and it was a perfect holiday read. Thanks to NetGalley for the look at this recent release!

-Billionaire Romance
-RomCom
-Small Town Vibes
This will be for you and it has even more within!
I love a good romcom and this is what this book was. SO fun and so enjoyable! The story line and setting for this book was perfection and the characters were so well developed. I loved watching each of them interact and our two MC’s grow together. This is a small town romance and I couldn’t have been here more for it. This book is perfect for those who want a super sweet and cute little holiday romance but not any of the spice because we don’t encounter any of that on the pages. Absolutely will be a recommended book here!
Fake dating, Hot Scot, Rich! Gimme all the tropes, I loved this one. Gwyn has resigned herself to an awful holiday, including festivities for her sister's perfect wedding. Her sister's fiance's friend, Logan, rents the house next door to get away from the pressures of his rich family, and the two strike up a friendship. When Gwyn's sister asks Logan to be Gwyn's date for the wedding, things start to heat up!
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!
This book has a strong Stars Hollow vibe and I absolutely adored it. It is such a sweet and charming book, and it’s like being wrapped in a warm hug. Gwen is completely and totally relatable, and Logan is absolutely adorable. A cute holiday story!
Definitely one of the best romances I've read in a while. When Gwen is in town for her sister's wedding, she feel like all eyes are on her. She got dumped by her fiance and now everyone is looking out for her when her sister is getting ready to tie the knot. To get everyone off her back, she gets Logan to agree to be her date to the wedding. What ensues is a opposites attract, fake dating romance sure to keep you entertained. The characters were charming and the setting was cute, this is a book sure to delight.
It is a closed door romance, so that is worth noting.
The only criticism I have is that for a holiday romance, it was a bit light on the holiday elements. I would describe it more as a cute small town romance.
4.5 stars
I loved it and I want more!! Please please continue their story. This had everything I want in a good RomCom Holiday book. I don’t want to give anything away but if you love a story where you are rooting for the main characters the entire time read this!
Thank you NetGalley and Blue Crow publishing for the opportunity to read this book.
The opposites attract in this story was perfection! Logan was so sweet from the start and I couldn't get enough of his scenes in this book. Gwen I wanted to wrap up on a hug throughout this story too. Set on the background of the holiday season, I couldn't put this book down! I enjoyed Lucy Day's writing and characters and am going to read her previous books. Thank you to NetGalley and Blue Crow Publishing for an advanced copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own!
I received this ARC free from the publisher via NetGalley.
I enjoyed this book overall, love a rich Scottish MMC and plus-size FMC, but I feel like there were a lot of things that either changed part-way through the book with no explanation or just forgotten about entirely. She had a panic attack when she saw her ex at the bridal store and was worried about seeing him at the wedding but then...nothing really mentioned again? It was a fake dating scheme that just became called a fling and never the fake dating was mentioned again? Theo wanted to pitch an idea to Logan but then...never mentioned again. Even the "fall back in love with Christmas" plot-point was immediately abandoned. Or Logan's mom setting him up all the time. Also, they had the feelings talk like 3 times before Gwen actually believed it which was a bit frustrating. There were just a lot of minor plot holes that ended up bothering me more than they probably should have. Despite that, it was a cute little easy Christmas romance.
This was a cute holiday story that was perfect for a cozy November evening read. It is apparently the third in a series but it stands alone just fine!
this book is really heartwarming and wholesome. logan is such a good compliment to gwen, and it was amazing to see them on their journey of their relationship. gwen is quite insecure and logan is there to reassure her, they’re made for each other 🧩 it’s as though logan is the missing piece in gwen’s puzzle
highly recommend this book to get you into the christmas vibe🎄now i want a matcha pistachio cake
This is my first read from Lucy Day. One Sweet Holiday is just that - a sweet holiday romance. The book is set in Jasmine Falls, South Carolina at Christmas time. You get all the small town Christmas traditions and a sexy Scottish hero. Gwen is a local baker preparing for her sister's wedding festivities. Logan is a wedding guest looking for a quiet getaway to figure out some family issues. Logan ends up next door to Gwen. Gwen and Logan are wonderful together. Neither are judgmental and both support each other. Gwen is able to work through her issues with Logan's help and Gwen is able to provide the support that Logan needs. Everyone should have a Logan in their life. Overall, this is a lovely book that makes you feel that everyone deserves their own HEA.
First of all thank you Netgalley and Lucy Day for giving me this ARC in exchange of an honest rewiev.
In my search for Christmas-themed books for an Instagram post I accidentally came across this book and the truth is it is one of the best things that could have happened to me.
This book was so good and I didn't I would love it as much as I did.
Gwen and Logan are just too adorable, I just want to hug and protect them at all cost.
Gwen is this female character, who is an independent and hard-working woman, she feels that she is bad at romantic relationships and a failure since she has never been able to meet the high standards that her mother has always set for her. After her failed engagement last year and with pressure from her mother to get a date for her sister's wedding, she finds herself in this situation that she never expects.
To get her mother to stop bothering her, her sister comes up with the great idea of her pretending to have a relationship with Logan, her fiancé's Scottish friend who is only in town for a short time. It sounds like the perfect plan but not everything is what it seems. The more time Gwen and Logan spend together, they begin to realize that they are more similar than they thought and their true feelings grow more and more.
Can I just say how much I love Logan? Like how is he's so perfect and adorable, he's always taking care of her, listen and suporting her. You can totally see how hard he falls in this book and I enjoyed too much.
Another thing I really loved was that it had both PO'Vs of our main characters and the fact that the book doesn't have explicit sex scenes was a lovely surprise too, I'm all for smutty books but from time to time I want a story comtemporary romance story that it's just romance and cute scenes.
If you're for a christmas romance com without a 3rd act break up, this is totally the book to pick this season.
