This book gave me all of the holiday cheer I needed. It’s a little sad that Gwen had to endure so much from her mom, and she suffers from a ton of insecurities that it was so refreshing when Logan came along to be that rock. Logan is going through his own thing when it comes to his family, but this book was so damn sweet. A ton of inspirational moments, and I love Gwen’s friends. This is a very cozy holiday romance read.

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book

Highlands Christmas by Amy Quick Parrish is a yummy yuletide treat. What is not to love when a sexy Scottish billionaire and a cute cafe owner with a heart of gold and a desire to people-please her way through small-town America meet up? With the perfect amount of spice and sweet this book delivers the coziest Christmas romance that goes down as easier than hot chocolate on a snowy winter night. Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.

Gwen and Logan are two people that prove that meddling families who want what's best for you isn't a great thing when they refuse to actually listen to you. Aside from that family feature, and having a sibling that is willing to be on their side and talk it out, they couldn't be further from each other. She is American, he is Scottish, She runs a bakery, he is an angel investor. She works hard to just make a living, he is loaded. But when Logan comes for a vacation around her sister's wedding, Gwen can't help but continually find herself in humiliating situations with him around her. Together, they work through some family trauma and drama, holiday disasters, things that are personal wins but their families are convinced are failures. Lucy Day has a great way of finding everyday humor and write in a way that is comical but also identifiable.

Perfectionist Gwen is doing everything she can to give her sister the wedding of her dreams. With her ill feelings towards the groom and her previous called off engagement, Gwen is having trouble keeping it together. She has been in the hunt for a wedding date, but dating in a small town means there are not very many options. That is until Logan comes to town for the month. Logan is an attractive Scot "gazillionaire" who is just looking to get away from his family and their unfair expectations of him.

Overall, this was a really sweet Christmas read. It is light-hearted, funny, and the perfect escape from the craziness of the holidays. It is definitely chessey and like reading a Hallmark movie, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. There is not a ton of character development, but I did really enjoy reading Gwen and Logan. Logan was an absolute sweetheart. I found his "instalove" for Gwen very endearing.

One Sweet Holiday is the third book of the Jasmine Falls series by Lucy Day. It does act as a standalone. I have not read the first two novels and did not feel lost or confused. I now want to go back and read the other books. I would definitely recommend One Sweet Holiday to any reader looking for some Christmas cheer.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC! One Sweet Holiday will be released on November 6th.

One Sweet Holiday is book 3 in the Jasmine Falls Love Stories series by Lucy Day.
After reading and absolutely loving OSH I’m now on a mission to get the two previous titles in this series.
This is a fantastic, small town, holiday rom-com with characters I loved the minute I met them! I love how the author immediately made me feel “at home” while reading this one and the entire story left the biggest smile on my face!
I loved being in the small town of Jasmine Falls, South Carolina.
The descriptions were just amazing and our characters Gwen and Logan were fun, engaging and so entertaining.
I adored all the characters, this is the kind of book that just leaves me feeling happy.
I really liked how she writes the most fun character interactions. It was great watching it all unfold.
I highly recommend this to anyone who loves the small town, fake-dating, opposites attract trope with laugh-out-loud banter.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Blue Crow Publishing for the opportunity to read this ahead of its publication date in return for my honest review.

This is a sweet romance set in a small town in december. Gwen is a baker who is in desperate need of a date to her sister's wedding. When Scottish billionaire Logan rents the cabin next door he might be even more than just a date.
I liked the characters and the story but I found it a bit over the top how the big problem in Logan's life just conveniently disappears in the end.
Still an entertaining holiday read.

As if being dumped by her fiancé wasn’t enough, Gwen now has to attend her sister’s wedding, alone, and face her ex who will also be in attendance.

Seizing her opportunity, she asks her temporary Scottish bazillionaire neighbour, Logan, to fake-date her.

This opposites attract, fake dating, small town romance is a quick and easy read.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.

This book and its characters are definitely well written, but I feel like the plot itself was lacking. There was a lot of will they, won't they, and not a lot of actual action between the two. I think the dual points of view in this book were very unnecessary, and the story suffered a lot because of it. The ending / epilogue were also very rushed and I think there should have been a lot more plot before getting to that point.

Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for the ARC!

A good way to kick off my winter holiday reading! One Sweet Holiday combines a few of my fave romance tropes (small town, fake dating) into a cute and easy read. A Scottish accent always gets me, and Logan is no exception. He falls fast for Gwen in a wonderfully memorable meet cute and helps her realize that she doesn't have to do everything on her own all the time. Their love story is sweet and wraps up nicely. Recommend for fans of "clean" romances!

After a disastrous break-up with her now ex-fiancé, Gwen needs a date for her sister's wedding, where her ex will also be in attendance. Enter Logan Fyfe: her temporary Scottish gazillionaire neighbour, who she decides to fake-date to get her mother off her back.

This is a dual POV, opposites attract, fake dating, small town romance. The characters are adorable and head over heels for each other.

Overall, this was more of an insta-lovey read rather than a slow-burn which I love, but the characters made up for it. I also would have preferred more development on their relationship, but all in all it was a cute Christmas romance read.

~ 3 stars

I received this book off of NetGalley as an advanced reader copy. Thank you for the opportunity to allow me to review this book!

For me, this book was such a cute, easy Christmas love story to read! I felt that the characters were well developed and that I got a sense of knowing who they were, rather than just words on a page. The characters both had frustrating circumstances in life, unsure of how to move forward with her current situations. Upon meeting and getting to know each other, the future becomes less complicated as things change when both characters help each other to realize the other's potential and what is important to them. Throughout the book, with Christmas fun as the backdrop, the characters learn more about themselves, each other, and whether Logan's stay in Gwen's town could turn into something less temporary.
I enjoy books where the female character is unsure of herself and the male character is there to lift her back up.

This book was low on the spice level but it really was a sweet love story. It didn't need all the spice to make it a great read!

I really, really liked this! It was my first Christmassy romance read of the season, and I was not disappointed.

Gwen is a small-town bakery owner who cannot seem to get things right. She feels like a constant source of disappointment to her mother, she's unlucky in love, and feels stuck. Her sister is getting married, and she is afraid that all attention will be on the fact that her own wedding fell apart the year prior. Enter Logan...a big, hot Scotsman who is in town for her sister's wedding, and also happens to be running from his own family burdens.

I adore a good fake-dating trope, and this one was so sweet. Logan and Gwen had the perfect awkward meet-cute, and although the timeline of their romance felt a little rushed for me, it also felt natural. I also love the small town setting where everybody knows everyone else's business, as it's very accurate! I feel as though the characters were written well and realistically, and Gwen is particularly relatable--her plus size figure, her family struggles, and not feeling as though she's worthy really struck a chord with me. While Logan is from a wealthy family, his character is written in a way that is not haughty or flaunting it constantly, which I appreciated. They had great chemistry and the tension could be felt without it being explicit.

Overall a really enjoyable, closed-door holiday romance!

Overall Rating: 3 - I liked it!
Spice factor: 🌶️

This contemporary romance is a light and fun read, perfect for a quick mental escape during a busy holiday season. I consider it “brain candy” and I will definitely read more by Lucy Day!

I like to rate my books based on five specific categories: personal impact, characters, plot, writing style, and satisfaction. I rank each category 1-5 and take the average for my final score. I also give romance novels a spice rating between 1-3 🌶️🌶️🌶️.

Personal Impact - how long will this book stay with me? Will I continue to think about it?

***2/5 Aside from a few life lessons that Logan shares with Gwen, I’m not likely to spend time thinking about this book in the future.

Characters - how real and complex are they? Is the protagonist likable? Am I invested?

***3/5 Gwen is likable and relatable, while Logan is a fantasy man in every way. They are not incredibly complex, but they are perfect for the contemporary romance genre.

Plot - are there stakes? Does the tension build? Does the action keep moving forward?

***3/5 The plot points are predictable tropes, but kept my interest.

Writing Style - how much did I enjoy the author’s use of language, details, etc?

***4/5 I enjoyed the author’s writing style. It is accessible and fun to read. No flowery language and just the right amount of detail to set the scene.

Satisfaction - was the ending satisfying or frustrating? Did it leave me with questions?

***3/5 The ending is satisfying enough, but it arrived too soon. Without spoiling anything, I will say I wanted more.

Thank you to NetGalley and Blue Crow Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

This was a very sweet, lighthearted small town romance. I throughly enjoyed it. I didn’t know it was the 3rd in series but I don’t feel like I missing anything important. I’m looking forward to reading the other two now.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley.

this is such a sweet, tender, fun, heartwarming story! Gwen and Logan have an instant chemistry that becomes a lovely friendship and deep connection. I loved seeing them both lean on each other, even as it went against their grain, to overcome familial toxicity and stress and unreasonable expectations. both Gwen and Logan have the biggest kindest hearts, and people in their lives have taken advantage of that. Logan’s vacation to Gwen’s small town was him learning to take care of himself while still loving his family and cutting out the toxicity, which ultimately helps helps him show Gwen how to do the same. the way Logan shows Gwen what a healthy love and support looks like is so heartwarming.

I loved the side story of Gwen’s sister standing up for herself and Gwen as well. just overall a fun, sweet, tender story of love and acceptance

thank you for the arc :)

Hallmark Christmas movie vibes. Small town bakery owner and visiting millionaire staying next door. Really liked the personalities of both main characters, and Gwen’s coworkers and friends were great secondary characters. Realized in the middle of the book that it’s the 3rd book in a series but it can be read as a stand-alone.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for One Sweet Holiday to come out November 6, 2023.

thanks netgalley for the arc!
this book was a great first holiday read of the year, super light and quick and easy to read. it is a little bit on the insta-love side but it's sweet enough.
i do, however, wonder if the writer has ever met a scottish person in their life... the back and forth between random english and irish mannerisms, to the very occasional actual scottish word was a little grating to me (i am probably biased).
in any case, pretty likeable characters and a sweet read!

I thoroughly enjoyed this! Perfect, light fare for a friendly, easy, feel-good read.
I wasn’t aware “Jasmine Falls” was something of a series, but I definitely like that these books can clearly be read as stand-alones.
As this is an ARC, one tidbit of feedback regarding “The Princess Bride”: the hero’s name is Westley, not Wesley. Check the credits at the end of the movie, and/or the book.
