This is a very cute story of a monster trying to get ready for bed, the monster doesn't understand why the child wants to sleep in bed. The monster wants to sleep under the bed. The monster finally gives up and tries to sleep in the the bed and falls fast asleep. The story is nice and shows different people have different ways of doing things. The illustrations are very nice. Black backgrounds with pops of color for night time scenes.
This was a super cute bedtime read. The toddlers loved this silly little monster and his crazy bedtime antics.
Like most Happy Yak books, this is a call and response book. This time is a Monster who’s ready to sleep under the bed, but the reader is supposed to want him to sleep on the bed. While I did enjoy this book, I don’t think that the reader will always give the answer, the narrator is expecting. It’s because of this I don’t think this book is as successful as other Happy Yak books. It is still a fun read, and the illustrations are perfect.
An adorable bedtime picture book story that makes kids and adults laugh as they read about non-scary monsters. I want this one for myself!
Ready for a MONSTER sleepover?
Well, just crawl under the bed (where all scary monsters sleep), and snuggle in for the night. I mean, after all, who would want to sleep on a soft, cozy, comfy bed under a warm blanket with an adorable teddy bear?
This would make a very cute and sweet bedtime tale for little ones who need some coaxing when it's time to head off to sleepyland.
This is an adorable story about a monster going to bed. It was really fun to read and the illustrations were really good. the monster's grumpiness put a smile on my face and I'm pretty sure it would make a kid all giggly which melts my heart.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a cute, creative children's book that will be great for bedtime!
This one caught my eye with a bridge vibrant cover and art. It is all about bedtime. You and your monster companion are getting ready for bed. The monster talks directly to the reader and confirming that they are a monster too. Trying to get you into bed - well, under the bed, obviously, where monsters sleep. You convince them to sleep ON the bed.
I liked that it makes monsters seem friendly and relatable, nothing to worry about. It is very cure and love the monster and me sleepover theme. I think that young readers and parents will really enjoy helping the monster go to sleep with fun directions like "close the book carefully" as the monster falls asleep. Great bedtime book.
"Are You a Sleepy Monster?" by Guilherme Karsten is a delightful, interactive bedtime story that transforms the typical monster-under-the-bed narrative into a cosy sleepover adventure.
The book's playful illustrations and direct storytelling encourage children to engage in the bedtime routine, guiding the cheeky yet endearing monster to rest. It's a perfect tale for dispelling bedtime fears and inviting giggles, ensuring that little ones and their monster friends find their way to dreamland together.
A wonderful read that I'm sure will quickly become a bedtime favourite for its fun approach to settling down for the night. I know that I will be rereading again for the monster's cheeky attitude.
My thanks to NetGalley and publishers for an advance copy of this book in exchange for a candid review.
Great bedtime story that invites kids to imagine what a monster's bedtime routine might be. I love the set up of his sleeping area under the bed and his nasty pajamas. Kids will enjoy this.
You know that there is at least one monster sleeping under your bed, right? So is this monster who came for sleepover. The hilarious story will make children forget how scarry a monster can be, moreover if they sleep under the bed. This book might help your children overcome their fear of dark spaces in the bedroom, thinking a monster might be there.
A cute bedtime story with a monster going to bed. We go through the routine of bedtime and see the differences that monsters have from humans when going to bed. This book has a good message of its ok to try something new as well.
Our 5yon laughed so much at this book. We are having some struggles when starting IN bed, and this story helped reinforce our reminders in a fun and silly way. Adding this to my list of go to gift books for 3-6 year old children.
Thank you to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group – White Lion for the opportunity to read and review this book for my students. This is definitely a book I can add for my students. It's interactive, it emphasizes prepositions, and has great story grammar components for a sleep time routine. 5 out of 5 stars
This is such a cute picture book!
I think it would be a great read aloud for storytimes: silly, great back and forth with the reader, and big pictures and font.
An adorable book. I think it would be amazing for storytime and other programs. My library does a Stuffed Animal Sleepover and I will be recommending that we use this at next year's event
A fun book about a monster having a sleepover who absolutely does not want to sleep on the bed. That's not where monsters go. The book was funny and charming, and the illustrations were delightful and colourful. Definitely a fun read for younger kids!
I immediately loved the art style of this book, which is the most important thing to me because I am an art teacher. The cut-out and collage style is so beautiful in the book but it also accessible for my students to recreate. I immediately bought this book because I knew it would lead to a great conversation about patterns. I also bought a copy for my niece because the story is just too cute as well. every kids I've read it to has loved it, just be warned, some will act like monsters.
I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own opinions.
Very creative story with wonderful illustrations to go with it. It made me smile, and in the mood I'm in, that's hard
This is a great book for kids who like There Is a Monster In My Book, Don't Push the Button, or other interactive, silly stories that take something scary and make it fun. This is cute because it encourages the reader to get the monster ready for bed, which likely will help the reader feel sleepy as well.
I love monsters in kids books because it lessens my kids worries about strange things in their room - monsters are portrayed as friendly creatures just like us.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A laugh-out-loud funny bedtime book where a monster is shocked that the reader doesn't sleep under the bed where monsters doze. Loved the little surprise at the end. Great last read before lights out. Thank you for the chance to read early!
