Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial Audio for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.
This novella is part of D.P. Conway’s five-book Christmas Collection series. It is not the usual seasonal story in the sense that Christmas as we know it only appears at the end. This story nonetheless captures the essence of the original Christmas story that promises hope, light and personal renewal. It is a fable about an injured young man with amnesia and the dream-like journey he undertakes that brings him truly ‘home.’. Loss, love, healing and reconciliation are all highlighted in a heartwarming way that doesn’t need to bring in overt Christmas references because they are ultimately what Christmas is about. A comforting listen for a winter’s night.
I didn't realize this was Christian fiction when I picked it up. It wasn't too Christian-y. I didn't feel it was very Christmas-y either; it seems the only Xmas aspect was at the end when they wished each other a happy christmas. I did enjoy the story but it also felt like a mashup of other stories I've read such as The Shack (which is Christian fiction), The Giver series and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Overall it was a fine, enjoyable short story but nothing I am quick to recommend. I did appreciate the authors personal notes at the beginning and end, however.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial Audio for my copy of Starry Night: Not All Who Wander are Lost by D.P. Conway Narrated by Randy Hames in exchange for an honest review. It published January 20, 2021.
Randy Hames did a decent job narrating this book.
Of all the books in this series, this was my least favorite, I found it hard to stay engaged and interested. I had a hard time with the setting, and wondering about what was Catholic rhetoric, and what was the author's imagination. It wasn't a bad book, just not my favorite compared to the other stories.
I enjoyed Starry Night: Not all Who Wander are Lost.
Ernest has not idea who he is or where he is from. He comes across a group of shepherds that take him into their group. They get a message from an angels that a sheep is lost. The group sets out to find it. Jessie takes who they call Marcus (Ernest) with him.
Jessie takes Marcus through the woods and come up to a neighborhood he recognizes. Once inside, Marcus realizes it is his sister's house and that his name is Ernest. He still doesn't know who he is. This is also when Ernest remembers he died. The second house Jessie takes Ernest to is where all of his dead relatives are waiting on him. He is reunited with his dad and grandmother.
The power of the Starry Night is what brought Ernest home to where he belongs.
I am glad I requested the audiobook on NetGalley of Starry Night: Not All Who Wander are Lost.
Lovely novella with a beautiful message. I can see how this could have been developed a little more, but at the same time not all stories have to cover a variety of scenes.
The narrator was good and this is part of a series, so curious to see how this will compare to the others.
3.5⭐
Exactly what I was looking for. Starry Night: Not All Who Wander are Lost makes a great between books read. Heartwarming with a wonderful message for you to find out!✨🎄
This is a short story about an injured young man who does not remember himself or where he is. Shepherds aided him on a grassy hill under the stars and moonlight and the start of a journey.
It's an hour-long audiobook with good narration by Randy Hames. Also on KU, 46 pages. Thank you BooksGoSocial Audio and Netgalley for my digital copy to review.
I liked this one although it was not my favorite of this Christmas series.
It was a heartwarming story of finding your way home
This book was for sure my second least favorite of this series. I saw what the book was trying to say but it was just poorly crafted. The narrator was a solid voice to this story but couldn’t make up for a story that should have been a little longer more and given more breathing room. 2 stars.
Thanks to the folks at NetGalley for an audio copy of this book. My review is a honest reflection of my feelings towards this book.
Sweet storyline. Brings me back to the days of the three kings visiting baby Jesus...
This is a novella that gives insight into what may happen in Heaven...
Only about an hour long.
We open with a man found on the ground, unconscious, by a shepherd. He is brought into the 'flock' and found to be hurt...and bandaged up. He then travels with the shepherd...and begins to see parts of his life thru a new lens...
Beautiful storyline, and sweet characters. May be a good thing to read if you have recently lost a loved one...
Thanks to #NetGalley and #BooksGoSocialAudio for an ARC of the audiobook, although I see a release date of 2021...so not sure...maybe this is for the audio release?

Happy Reading!! 📖📚
I choose this book specifically because I was looking for a short Christmas read and A Starry Night did not disappoint. It is perfect for an autumn or winter evening. I listened to the audiobook read by Randy Hames who has this rich voice that evokes, spices, gingerbread, hot chocolate and all those sentimental, traditional Christmas things.
Whether you call it spiritual, Christian or schmalzy this story is about a man who is lost and who eventual finds what he couldn't remember what he had lost.
You may be temporarily lost but there will always be the one that is looking out for you, to bring you back into relationship. You will be found
A lovely heart-warming read.
This is a quick and entertaining Christmas short story. I’m not religious so maybe not the target audience for this, but it was still a nice enough story to listen to.
Randy Hames did a good job narrating the audiobook.
Thank you D.P. Conway, BooksGoSocial, and NetGalley for providing this ALC for review consideration. All opinions expressed are my own.
Wonderful Christmas short story that I highly recommend! Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for a chance to read and review this book in exchange for an honest review.
A very quick audiobook, the narration was relaxing and simple.
Randy wakes up injured and unsure where he is, but is welcomed by a kind Shepard who guides him along. Deeper lessons of life are explored as Randy journeys to find his home, and the sweet story focuses on larger meanings associated with Christmas.
Overall: 4 stars
I'll tell my students about: religion, death, trauma/mental health
**Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial Audio for the free ALC. All opinions expressed are my own.**
With Randy Haynes setting the perfect tone for this Christmas story we hear about a man who wakes injured not knowing who he is and after coming up on a group of shepherds he travels with them and enjoys it not only that the shepherds have a surprise in store before it’s over Marco for lack of knowing his name sees a familiar house. This is all I’m going to say I really enjoyed this book the end was unexpected and sweet and I liked it so much I am mediately pause the book and went and download it another by this author it was a short story may be a little over an hour but so worth reading I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend that if you love sweet clean magical Christmas stories you were probably enjoyed this one I know I did. I want to thank the author, books go social and NetGalley for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
