I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.
(I received this arc in exchange for an honest review)
I really liked this book. I read the first one and I liked it too, and this one was even cuter! I loved the characters and the only thing that didn't feel quite right was the fact that it felt a bit rushed and confusing sometimes.
It's the perfect book to get into the Christmas spirit! Excited to read the next one in the series!!!

This novel is a stand-alone follow-up to Highlands Christmas: Wishes Come True, though it seamlessly continues the story from where the first book left off. When Caitlin learns that Melissa has relocated to Scotland, she hops on a plane to visit her. The timing couldn’t be better, as Hogmanay (Scottish New Year’s Eve) is just around the corner! Plans are made for a trip to the Isle of Skye, but after an accident, Melissa and Colin can’t join, leaving Colin’s sister, Lindsay, to accompany Caitlin instead. A sudden snowstorm forces the two to take refuge at a cozy lodge run by the charming locals, Angus and Drew—who, by the way, happen to be quite attractive, a fact not lost on the girls.
Amy Quick Parrish’s vivid descriptions bring the snowy Scottish landscape to life, creating a charming winter atmosphere. The blend of holiday spirit and light romance makes this a delightful and heartwarming read.
How many romantic couples can you squeeze into one book? This one takes the cake. So much goodness in one story!
What a dreamy Christmas read! The setting was just perfect. A snowy Scottish cosy hug of a book. I didn’t realise it was the second in a series when I requested it, and I do wish I’d read the first book first as some of the references went over my head, but I still really enjoyed it. Can definitely see this as a Hallmark type movie on the telly at Christmas. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher.
I absolutely loved Highlands New Year by Amy Parrish! This sequel builds beautifully on the charm and warmth of the first book, immersing readers once again in the picturesque Highlands setting. The story continues to follow the beloved characters as they navigate new challenges and celebrate fresh beginnings with the arrival of the New Year.
Parrish’s writing is as engaging as ever, with rich descriptions and heartfelt moments that make the Highlands feel like a second home. The characters’ growth and the unfolding romantic and personal developments are both satisfying and touching. The book captures the magic of new beginnings and the joy of spending time with characters you’ve come to care about deeply.
If you enjoyed the first novel, Highlands New Year is a must-read. It’s a delightful continuation that perfectly blends romance, community, and the festive spirit of the New Year.
I do not think I’m the right target audience for this book.
It read like a Hallmark movie but worse. None of the characters are written as more than surface level and the relationships are “built” on absolutely nothing.
The amount of coincidences was honestly corny, and I found myself cringeing through a good portion of the book.
If you want a really quick read, with surface level characters and insta-love type relationships this may be up your alley.
I love Christmas books and I did read this a while ago but forgot to do the review. The second book in the series and it was a great holiday read. Love the snow covered setting and the real Christmas and holiday feel of this book. It is a very warm and cosy read and is one to cuddle up with.
Love the characters, love their stories and love the holiday romance. A fun read and enjoyable, entertaining and quick and easy to read.
Thank you NetGalley and Flying Cactus Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Flying Cactus Publishing for the eARC. I am voluntaily reviewing this book. This is the 2nd book in a series. I have read the first book. For me, this was somewhat of a disappointment. How many of us can at a drop of a hat run off to a foreign country to look for a friend? We may want to but can't. Then there is insta-lust. Not sure maybe I just wasn't in the right mood. This is not to say that I didn't enjoy the book, it just wasn't my favorite. It is a quick read. 3 stars
Love is in the air for three couples in this story. I enjoyed the descriptions of the highlands and the folklore. A charming read.
Many thanks to Flying Cactus Publishing and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
In this stand-alone sequel to Amy Quick Parish’s novella Highlands Christmas: Wishes Come True, readers are returned to Scotland to revisit Melissa, a recent divorcee who has inherited a home overseas and fallen in love with the Scottish lawyer who handled the dissolution of her marriage. In this installment, Melissa’s friend Caitlin comes to visit for Hogmanay, the Scottish New Year, and the women plan a getaway to the Isle of Skye. When a snow storm interrupts their plans, Melissa is stranded at home with her new love interest (the divorce lawyer Colin), while Caitlin rides out the weather in a cozy inn on the banks of Loch Ness with Colin’s sister Lindsay. There, they meet two rugged Scottish men with connections to Caitlin’s hometown of Boston.
This short novella features three sweet, budding romances set against a wintry Scottish backdrop, and those who love folklore will find delight in its pages. The characters celebrate Burns Night and take part in the Highland Games. They describe the daft days between Christmas and New Year’s and talk of Scottish superstitions and traditions like first footing, which claims the first visitor to cross your threshold in the New Year sets the tone for months to follow. They plan to visit famous landmarks like the Loch Ness, The Old Man of Stor and The Fairy Glen, and they tell stories of kelpies, selkies, and water horses as they sip whisky around peat-scented fires.
This short book gives readers a bite-sized taste of Scottish culture and a sweet, romantic escape into folklore. If you are looking for a light-hearted escape from the holiday bustle, and if you enjoy a man wearing a kilt, Amy Quick Parish’s book Highland New Year is for you!
Thank you to NetGalley for a free copy of the book in exchange for a fair review.
This book was a cute, romantic, snowed-in, Scottish slumber party! It was the perfect read for me during the summer as I prefer the cold weather. This is book two of three (that I know of) and I ordered book 1 and pre-ordered book 3 and am greatly looking forward to reading them as well. This book is less than 200 pages and makes for a great read-in-one-sitting story. This book is exactly what I want in a romance that isn’t spicy. The romance was sweet and gives you the warm and fuzzies.
This book screams 'make me into a Hallmark movie immediately' and I am imploring everyone I can to listen! It was cute, it was set in Scotland so automatically it's a winner... if you read this book, you will NOT be disappointed.
I read the first book in the Highlands Christmas Romance series and really enjoyed it as a quick and light holiday read. I enjoyed this second in the series, Highlands New Year, but it didn't keep me quite as intrigued as the first book did. I still enjoyed it and would read the next in the series, as I have become interested in the saga of Melissa and her friends.
In the first book Melissa's rotten husband leaves her right before Christmas, and she inherits a house in Scotland in one fell swoop. In this newest book Melissa's best friend Caitlin comes to Scotland to see what is up with Melissa, who disappeared so quickly and mysteriously from home. Caitlin's plans to comfort Melissa go awry as weather blocks her passage, and she then finds romance of her own in Scotland.
This book was cheery, sweet, and quick, just like the last one, but for whatever reason I found myself connecting to Melissa in the first book more than I did these characters. Thus, I was happy when Melissa briefly popped in and out of this book. There were passages of the book that seemed like travel guide information had been turned into story descriptions, and it read a little clunky to me. This did not keep me from enjoying the book in general. And I like the short format. Sometimes it's nice to speed through a book in a short time without a huge time commitment.
I would rate this 3.5.
Thank you to Amy Quick Parrish and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very cute pallet cleanser for me. Hallmark in the highlands basically for me, the characters are all excited! If you love instalove and Scotland in the winter this may be the book for you.
This book continues where the previous one left off. It was short and a quick read. I thought this one was ok.
Highlands New Year has such a charming premise. I absolutely love Scotland in the winter, so I knew I had to read it. Unfortunately, this book didn't quite work for me.
I finished this book feeling disappointed by the lack of character development and unrealistic relationships, which for me, made the story feel disjointed.
That said, I believe many fans of cozy romances will love this book!
This book had me hooked at Highlands! A fun, quick read that makes you feel like you're in the Highlands!
Such a festive read! I could feel the holiday spirit even in April! Highlands New Year was so heartfelt and comfy!
Thank you to NetGalley for this chance.
This was cute, cozy and enjoyable Caitlin & Agnus and a Scottish New Year. Its a fun romantic short story. Short and sweet and holiday feels.
