Thank you NetGalley, Amy Quick Parrish, and Flying Cactus Publishing for giving me the opportunity to review this book! All opinions are my own.

This is a stand-alone sequel to Highlands Christmas-Wishes Come True, however it does pick up where the first left off perfectly! Once Caitlin hears of Melissa’s move to Scotland, she flies out to visit. And what perfect timing as it’s almost Hogmanay (Scottish New Year’s Eve)! They make plans to visit the Isle of Skye, but Melissa and Colin can’t go due to an accident. Instead Colin’s sister, Lindsay, offers to tag along with Caitlin. Unfortunately a big snowstorm forces them to stay the night at a lodge owned by locals Angus and Drew. Did I mention that Angus and Drew are very handsome and charming, as the girls soon find out.

Amy Quick Parrish really transports you to the quaint, snowy Scottish inn with her writing. I really enjoyed the cute, wintery theme with a hint of romance. I do wish there was more Melissa and Colin though, but here’s to hoping that there’s another book eventually!

Pick this up if you want a feel-good, festive read! Out on December 12th!

This was a captivating, cute, cosy and enjoyable sequel to A Highland Christmas that can be read as a stand-alone. This book follows Melissa's friend, Caitlin.
A fun romance at New Years, with Caitlin, Agnus and a Scottish New Year. This was a fun romantic short story and I can’t wait for the next. I would recommend this book to any romance lover.

This is the perfect read for the holiday season with the Scottish setting, touch of romance and engaging characters. Highlands New Year is a standalone read but would recommend reading Highlands Christmas first as this does continue from where it left off.

Highlands New Year leaves off where the first book ended and follows Melissa's best friend, Caitlin. When Caitlin finds out that Melissa intends to stay in Scotland, Caitlin decides to see for herself that her friend is okay. Caitlin is captivated by the sites in Scotland and when a trip on the ice leaves Colins and Melissa stuck at home, she continues her trip with Colin's sister, Lindsey. After a snowstorm prevents the two from going home, they end up staying in the tiny town in the countryside where they steal the last room in the inn from two locals, Angus and Drew. Caitlin soon finds that her and Angus have a lot more in common than both being from Boston.

Highlands New Year was a fun adventure and although the main focus is on Caitlin, the book continues on with the relationship of Melissa and Collin. Melissa is trying to navigate her options for staying in Scotland and dealing with a possible long-distance relationship with Collin. I was glad to see their story continue, and I am excited to see where their relationship will go after the cliffhanger at the end of this book.

Caitlin is such a fun character and I loved her with Angus. I would like for their story to continue on as well in the next book and maybe a possible relationship with Lindsey and Drew. There is a lot of possibilities with the next book after the surprise ending and I am excited to see what will happen next.

Highlands New Year is out now.

In this stand-alone sequel to Amy Quick Parish’s novella Highlands Christmas: Wishes Come True, readers are returned to Scotland to revisit Melissa, a recent divorcee who has inherited a home overseas and fallen in love with the Scottish lawyer who handled the dissolution of her marriage. In this installment, Melissa’s friend Caitlin comes to visit for Hogmanay, the Scottish New Year, and the women plan a getaway to the Isle of Skye. When a snow storm interrupts their plans, Melissa is stranded at home with her new love interest (the divorce lawyer Colin), while Caitlin rides out the weather in a cozy inn on the banks of Loch Ness with Colin’s sister Lindsay. There, they meet two rugged Scottish men with connections to Caitlin’s hometown of Boston.

This short novella features three sweet, budding romances set against a wintry Scottish backdrop, and those who love folklore will find delight in its pages. The characters celebrate Burns Night and take part in the Highland Games. They describe the daft days between Christmas and New Year’s and talk of Scottish superstitions and traditions like first footing, which claims the first visitor to cross your threshold in the New Year sets the tone for months to follow. They plan to visit famous landmarks like the Loch Ness, The Old Man of Stor and The Fairy Glen, and they tell stories of kelpies, selkies, and water horses as they sip whisky around peat-scented fires.

This short book gives readers a bite-sized taste of Scottish culture and a sweet, romantic escape into folklore. If you are looking for a light-hearted escape from the holiday bustle, and if you enjoy a man wearing a kilt, Amy Quick Parish’s book Highland New Year is for you!

Thank you to NetGalley for a free copy of the book in exchange for a fair review.

This book was a cute, romantic, snowed-in, Scottish slumber party! It was the perfect read for me during the summer as I prefer the cold weather. This is book two of three (that I know of) and I ordered book 1 and pre-ordered book 3 and am greatly looking forward to reading them as well. This book is less than 200 pages and makes for a great read-in-one-sitting story. This book is exactly what I want in a romance that isn’t spicy. The romance was sweet and gives you the warm and fuzzies.

Love the characters, love their stories and love the holiday romance. A fun read and enjoyable, entertaining and quick and easy to read.
