So cute! I enjoyed the rhymes and alliteration to address fear. Hampton the owl and Figgy the pig are silly, fun characters that will delight children. A cozy story to read during Halloween season or with children afraid of the dark.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

Hampton and Figgy are so adorable! My little guy loved this book! He loved helping me say all the different sounds in the book! I loved how this book came at the perfect time for him, as he has been asking about monsters at bed time. The artwork is super cute and engaging. I will be adding this as a staple to our bedtime rotation!

Cuteness overload!! 🦉🐷
As a new grandma who enjoys reading, I was intrigued to check out this charming little story for my grandson Cal, who will be 1 when this book is published.
My love for the illustrations and cover is what I want to start with. I was immediately drawn to both which made me want to check it out.
The characters of Hampton, an owl, and Figgy the pig are fun and very lovable.
The story helps young children realize that the noises and bumps they hear at night are not always as scary as they may seem. Which would be an effective book to have ready in your arsenal for the bedtime scaries that are sure to come.
It's also worth mentioning that I could imagine myself interacting with my grandson while reading this book, and I'm sure I would take a pause to do so. I'll be on the lookout for it in June.
Thank you Net Galley, author Kristi Valiant and her publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review..

Hampton the owl loves the quiet of nighttime, but one night he hears a snorting, sniffling, MONSTER!
This is a really cute one for teaching onomatopoeia, and would be really fun at a toddler or youngish preschool storytime - they’d have a blast hooting and oinking and snorting along. Plus there’s a great message about conquering your fears at the end (spoiler alert - what he heard was a piglet, and SHE thought HE was a hooting monster too!). And Hampton the owl and his little red bow tie are way too adorable.

Such a cute story. I loved how the text changed in size and style to give the reader clues how to do a good performance as a read aloud. That’s great for parents who want to give an animated reading. The pictures were beautifully rendered, very colorful and appealing. The story was fun and light.
Thank you for giving me a sample of the book to review. It was a pleasure to read!

Hoo's There?: A Silly Book for the Bedtime Scaries (Board Book)
by Kristi Valiant
A cute sample of art work with big eyes and silly exaggerated expressions.
Showing that we make our selves frighten by our own misconception.
A good conversation starter for early education showing that we make our own fears. That if we look closer we can find connections.

Hoo’s There is an adorable children’s book about facing your fears starring Hampton the owl! Hampton loves reading, but starts to hear scary noises and meets a friend along the way with Figgy the pig.
Young children will love this book, as they’ll be captivated by the beautifully bright illustrations, the fun rhymes, and the awesome adventure. This book is fun and silly, but also shares a great message that often time our fears aren’t what we think. It also displays friendship and being brave together.
I would love to read this book to my students in my classroom! Children at a preschool/kindergarten age love books about animals—and Hampton is a star!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review. I cannot wait to add it to my classroom collection.

Owl hears a noise and gets scared. Is it a mmmmmonster? Or is he hearing sounds from something else. Such a cute story about being afraid and then realizing its really nothing at all. Good bedtime story book.

Sooooo cute! The illustrations were great! I loved the story, they start out being scared then turn out silly and the ones reading about monsters! Loved reading this one and asking questions like what do you think is going to happen next, and isn’t Figgy dressed so silly?

Hampton the owl loves to read. Then he hears some noise & decides it has to be a monster. What he finds is a pig, who thinks there is a monster. They decide to dress up and scare away the monter. Finally, they realize the noises each heard was the other. Now they are friends that like to read about monsters together.
A sweet board book. It has a twist and a great/funny ending. Would definitely share this with a preschooler!

I loved the illustrations in the book, they are really great and lovely to look at.
I thought that the story was good and it was one my 6 year old daughter really enjoyed too and we did have a few giggles, she is a little over the age range given but she loves being able to read books herself so that’s a plus for me and something I definitely encourage.
We read the book together and then she read it to me the next night and has asked for it again tonight – you can’t really give greater praise to a children’s book than that with the number of books that there are available.
It is 5 stars from me for this one, it is already a firm favourite in our house – very highly recommended!

Well, I can see that this has been working for other readers, but I didn't think this was all that fabulous. It concerns an owl who hears a monstrous being outside the place it lives, and fearfully tries to confront it – but practically crashlands on a friendly pig instead. But what was the pig thinking through this all, and where could the monster have gone? The text introduces some rhymes, and some alliteration, but almost tackles both as if with a half-hearted approach. The visuals are fine enough, but not outstanding, and the parallels in the story could have been delivered in a more enjoyable way, to my mind. It's not at all regrettable, but not ever something to generate that FOMO feeling in the nursery.

This sweet story about an owl and a pig who hear monsters and then realize there was never anything to be scared of will be nice for kiddos with their own night time fears. A little on the light side. Would have enjoyed a bigger twist.

I received a digital ARC of this book via Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
My husband and I read this with my daughter during tummy time. It’s the perfect short book full of laughter learning not to be scared of the dark. The illustrations are beautiful. The storyline flows well and just overall, we really enjoyed the book. My husband enjoyed making the many sound effects throughout the book! I would definitely purchase for my daughter. And it’s perfect for those that are scared of the dark!

This would be an instant buy for a few kids I know -- very silly, with tons of good monster and animal sounds, plus it's in board book format? It hits the jackpot for teaching kids that it's okay to be scared -- but also, maybe don't read scary books around bedtime. The illustrations are very lively, without being in too bold of colors that it feels like too much. Excited to snag a few copies as gifts when it's out! Thanks to NetGalley for an early review copy, all opinions are my own.

This is a fun and reassuring story to calm nighttime fears. Every sound can be explained and isn’t a monster at all. Kids who watch scary shows definitely need reassurance that what they saw on the screen was fiction.

Hoo’s There? Was a great quick read for my toddler who is always on the move but likes to look at pictures and make animal noises. It was cute, funny, and gave us a good laugh. We will definitely add this book to the monthly rotation.

This was a fun story to read with my four year old son. He thought the story was so funny. The ending was very cute and my enjoyed that they each thought the other was the monster.

Hoo’s there was a very cute book, my 5,6,11 year olds like it. It was funnto learn that the owl and the pig mistook each other for the monster. Great book to engage and interact with kids.
