Great book of short stories.
Truly a spooky, gory, and subversive collection.
Definitely for fans of the genre.
This is the first time I read this genre, I saw it said in the description it was horror and sex, I've never read that so, this was different. It was fun, very weird, new, what can I say, it was an experience. I liked the most the Horrorgasm and the Santa´s package stories.
This set of short stories sent me for a wild ride. Each one was more interesting than the last and really keeps the reader begging for more.
A solid addition to the Horror genre’s many Indy short story collections. A mix of splatter, erotica and humor gave this a nostalgic 80s B-movie feel that was both entertaining, stomach turning and a little spicy. The mix of bloody body horror and erotica brought this to a Bizarro level that I thoroughly enjoyed. Great writing with consistent pace and flow. Each story was a fun ride and kept me entertained!
This was my introduction to splatterpunk. I’m just getting back to reading and this was a risk that absolutely paid off. These stories were horrific, scary, sexy and intriguing.
This was my first ever Splatterpunk genre read, and boy was I wholly unprepared. I'll preface this by saying I requested this read because the title and cover art intrigued me. I skimmed through the description and decided to dive in, head first. I wish I maybe did some research into the genre first, to help prepare me for the incredibly uncomfortable, wildly graphic (but not fun graphic) stories and the general sense of unease I felt while reading this - which is the whole point of Splatterpunk (which I know now). If you're into Splatterpunk, this would probably be a fun read for you - but I don't think I'll partake in this genre again. Out of all the stories in this compilation, I liked #Horrorgasm the most. The stories are well written andcould be your cup of tea if you're into these types of novels - it was just not for me.
Tales full of horror and gore, with a splash of erotica to keep things a little spicy. There were homages to classic horror films and the body horror elements were delightful. The stories reminded me of B-grade horror flicks. which I love, and this often made the horror funny rather than scary. I don't think there were any deeper conversations trying to be had within any of the stories, which is an element of horror I enjoy, but I don't think literature has to be deep to be enjoyable. At most, the erotic elements, where the authors explored sexuality and human desire, were the most emotionally rich and character driving parts. Overall, a good three star read. Note: I was provided an ARC of this book by Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
This short story collection was dark in the best way! As a fan of horror and smut this erotic splatterpunk collection had just enough of both to keep me satisfied. The humor and bizarro vibe kept me entertained. I enjoyed 5 of the stories quite a bit but wasn't really a fan of the others. “HorrorGasm” was my favorite- I love a good revenge story and Molly was a queen. “Cucumbers and Comforters” was sad and strange and a great way to end this collection.
3.5 stars rounded up
I decided to read this book from NetGalley and i don't regret reading it. This book has the perfect combination of splatterpunk and horror eroticism. From a Santa alien breeding women, all the way to a social media challenge going completely off the rails, there's a story for anyone who's into extreme horror. It's a fun ride reading through each story.
This was a fantastic collection of short stories. I don't think I've read extreme horror before although I have read books where the horror got a bit extreme, I don't think they necessarily fall into the same category as Petite Mort. All of the stories were intriguing but the one that stuck the most was probably the final story (about Kappas). If you're looking for extreme horror, that one definitely checks all the boxes. Would definitely read from both of these authors again.
I should have read the description better before requesting this book. I can handle a little horror or darkness with my spice but this was extreme,
The trifecta of horror! Scary, funny and sexy! This was an amazing read and perfect for gorey, extreme horror
Horror erotica short stories? Uhm yes, sign me up!
Not only is the cover deliciously beautiful but the stories inside were top notch. I use to be obsessed with short horror stories when I was younger, with my ADHD I had to read short stories to stay focused. This book brought me back to my youth with some nostalgia.
This is a book I would recommend to my dark girlies.
Holy cow. I honestly didn’t know what I was getting myself into with this one. These stories were totally bonkers! They definitely kept me interested, on-edge, and curious. If you like horror, gore, and mind-bending plot - this is the book for you. I think I’ll be reeling for a while.
Thank you to Net Galley for the reader copy of this collection of shorts and novellas.
This collection is splatterpunk erotica and it was pretty intense, horrific, gross and terrifying - I mean it was still a book, rather than a real world experience, thankfully. There’s a cam girl who only does horror themes, a terrifying ball pit at a fast food restaurant, diseased appendages, and mythical creatur3s that munch on cucumbers, and errr people of course…
I was very curious when this book came across the notifications, and now I can say with certainty that this is not the type or reading for me.
That said, this is a really well done collection. The writing is good. Really good. The editing was top notch, and the stories are entirely creative, fresh and new.
So 4 stars from me, I just couldn’t quite bring it to five since the entire collection sort of gave me nausea, but for those who like this genre, it will be nausea in a good way. Happy Reading!
Review is also live on Amazon, thanks
This is a goopy, perverse, and dreadful collection of short stories that are also well written with interesting characters and narratives.
The thing I like about body horror and splattery style horror fiction is when those elements make sense within the world of the story. That's where this collection stands out as the sexually charged gore is there to enhance the weirdness. And it's fantastic!
The stories are a testament to the creativity and boundless imagination of the authors. A Santa Claus fetish, a horror themed cam girl, a water based urban legend coming to life, and a new drug that has some very perverse consequences are all told with a no holds barred approach.
Weird gory horror with no limits is on full display and I highly recommend this anthology.
What. A. Doozy! Nikki Noir and SC Mendes are brilliant minds! I’ve never read anything quite like these stories here in this little book. Petite mort is filled with 8 incredible short stories and novellas. They are gruesome, out of this world, and disgusting in all the right ways. I even found myself snickering at times. If you want quick reads and amazing story telling, pick this one up and take it for a spin!
A super weird and disturbing read and each short story was different. But this was such a fun take on creative erotic horror and I loved it.
"Fear Street on Acid!" delivers a provocative and thrilling collection of stories under the title "Petite Mort." In these eight tales, new adults grapple with societal pressures, supernatural forces, and personal demons. From Molly Massacre's horror-themed OnlyFans account to the unsettling discovery of ley lines beneath a fast-food restaurant, each story offers a unique blend of erotic horror, bizarre twists, and dark humor.
The contemporary narratives cater to those who seek horror with an edge, exploring themes of society, the supernatural, and the macabre. The stories, initially finding digital success on Godless, have been remastered, enhanced, and compiled for the first time in print.
From the short and intense "Grinder" to the novella-length chills of "Santa’s Package" and "Cucumbers and Comforters," the collection seamlessly weaves together elements of New Adult Horror and Splatterpunk. The result is a gripping anthology that pushes boundaries and offers a fresh take on the intersection of horror, erotica, and dark humor. For readers craving contemporary, edgy tales, "Fear Street on Acid!" is a must-read that leaves a lasting impression.
Petite Mort is a delightfully gruesome and sexually charged compilation of short stories and novellas, and I honestly enjoyed something about every one of them. I've never really read erotic splatterpunk before, in fact I honestly didn't know it existed, but it was an absolute blast to read. My favorites were HorrorGasm and #DeadSealChallenge, but the whole book was just great.
