A Note From the Publisher
This is not to discourage anyone from requesting Petite Mort. The collection is a great introduction to splatterpunk. Well-written, funny, and bizarre as NetGalley users have noted. But it is still splatterpunk. Petite Mort is a French word for ‘the little death’. This is another term for ‘orgasm’. Definitely intended for readers over eighteen.
Advance Praise
“Equal parts Elmore Leonard, Chuck Palaniuk, and Gillian Flynn, Nikki Noir definitely lives up to her name.” - John Palisano, Bram Stoker Award-winning author
"Mendes knows how to weave a mystery" - Joseph Sale, author of Dark Hilarity
"Nikki Noir is a sultry new voice in erotic horror, one you should watch as closely as a black widow in your bedsheets" - Kristopher Triana, Splatterpunk-Award winning author of Toxic Love
Marketing Plan
Looking to increase Petite Mort's reviews on Amazon & Goodreads in preparation for a new release from Mendes titled "THE LITTLE SEASON."

This was a bit outside of my comfort zone, but I still found it enjoyable. The writing was great, I’m just not a fan of explicit sex. While I can read it, it’s just not for me on a regular basis.
The horror, gore, what have you was what you want and expect within this sub genre or bizarro/ splatter horror.
I’ll definitely check out both authors again based solely on their writing styles and imaginations.
I've never read anything like this and I'm giving it five stars just for that, even though not every story reached the same level. Even the stories I wasn't as crazy about were highly entertaining.
I wouldn't recommend this for anyone who doesn't have some life experience, because there was horror, lots of sex, and lots of betrayal. I am going to recommend it in my horror groups as a great book of horror short stories.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
I did not expect to read what I read. And I might go and look at other works by these authors.
Some of these stories were really good. I especially enjoyed the Horrorgasm one with Molly Massacre. Some weren't my thing.
I received a copy via NetGalley and all opinions are my own.
This was my introduction to splatterpunk. I’m just getting back to reading and this was a risk that absolutely paid off. These stories were horrific, scary, sexy and intriguing.
This short story collection was dark in the best way! As a fan of horror and smut this erotic splatterpunk collection had just enough of both to keep me satisfied. The humor and bizarro vibe kept me entertained. I enjoyed 5 of the stories quite a bit but wasn't really a fan of the others. “HorrorGasm” was my favorite- I love a good revenge story and Molly was a queen. “Cucumbers and Comforters” was sad and strange and a great way to end this collection.
3.5 stars rounded up
This was a fantastic collection of short stories. I don't think I've read extreme horror before although I have read books where the horror got a bit extreme, I don't think they necessarily fall into the same category as Petite Mort. All of the stories were intriguing but the one that stuck the most was probably the final story (about Kappas). If you're looking for extreme horror, that one definitely checks all the boxes. Would definitely read from both of these authors again.
I don‘t even know where to begin with this book. It was so vastly different from anything that I have ever read. It‘s so f*cked up and weird but I loved it! Think black mirror meets smut meets weird kinky horror. This is definitely not one for those of you who are not used to reading books with a TON of trigger warnings. It is FILLED with them. It is erotic horror at it‘s finest and I will be exploring this genre more now! I also discuss this with my podcast cohost on The Good Girls Society Podcast!
Let me just start by saying this is one of the best Splatter collections I've come across as of lately. None of the stories fell short and some will even remain with you long after you finish the book. Nikki Noir and SC Mendez did not hold back and I look forward to future releases from both authors.
