This was such an enjoyable read and appreciated the little quirks of both Serena & Henry. It was sweet to see them get to understand the other better whilst they literally walked in eachothers shoes.

"Tea is the most useful beverage ever invented. I realise this now...there are many, many situations in which tea is the correct, only answer"

There were a couple of things that just felt a bit off to me, mainly the Insta love after their first meet (and how important that was to Henry).

“It feels like love, it feels like love, it feels like love”

Loved the addition of the diagrams and footnotes throughout the story. They’re quirky, just like the characters. Be mindful that if you choose the audiobook, although the diagrams are described, you will miss out on the full effect.

His large family is always a dynamic that I enjoy reading about. The hang ups that Serena experiences in relation to love are explored. And was impressed with how this played into the ending.

“I’ll be working under you. I don’t date colleagues. Footnote number 1. Or anyone else. My rule, one and done. Always. Dating is a distraction”

Pick this up if you love a cute romcom and science!

Side note- how pretty this this cover!

Oh my god this book! Selena and Henry, two scientists who live in Geneva Switzerland and work with the Large Hadron , when one day they find themselves in each others bodies, had me laughing, crying and even wanting to pull my hair out at times. I had a hard time getting into this book at the beginning. While there was wit it felt a little dry but that doesn’t last long and before I knew it I was engrossed in their misadventures. Reading along as they try to switch themselves back was a fun ride.

Switched is the second book in the Ghosted series. Sarah Ready's humor and sarcasm is unmatched. I enjoyed the little doodles, diagrams, and charts included in this one. I thought the footnotes were fun and creative. But you also didn't see them unless you clicked on it, so if you're someone who would find that distracting you don't have to worry you can just skip clicking on the number. I haven't read a book by this author that I didn't love and Switched was no different. I liked how the characters from the first book were tied in, but it isn't necessary to read Ghosted before reading this one. Pick this one up for some romance mixed with a lot of humor and fun.

4/5 stars

Switched is an adorable romcom read with a twist of sci-fi, and a dash of STEM. I loved the footnotes and the 4th wall break, it added to the story and made it feel so unique.

Serena and Henry’s meet cute had me laughing out loud and hooked from the beginning. Easy banter between characters is a must for me, and these two certainly didn’t disappoint!

This was my first read from Sarah Ready and I’ll be checking out her other works.

*I received an ARC through Net Galley and this is my unbiased opinion. Thank you for the ARC!*

Switched is a hilarious, sweet story of two physicists who accidentally switch bodies during a Large Hadron Collider incident. They’re total opposites (who’ve always been very attracted), but have to learn to appreciate each other’s perspectives when they’re suddenly living in the other’s body.

I loved watching Serena and Henry grow and learn to empathize with each other in their romantic Freaky Friday situation. The novel puts both main characters in the other’s element in a fun way and forces them to consider other perspectives and directions for growth.

This one is great for fans of Big Bang Theory, insta-love tropes, British men, and a little sprinkle of the supernatural alongside the science.

I'm always excited when I see there is a new book from Sarah Ready! I dropped whatever I'm reading or listening to so I can get to hers in that moment. This was another great book that makes you fall in love. I LOVED ghosted so it was nice to having those characters brought in as well. Serena and Henry will take you on quite the journey! They will make you laugh out loud when they switch and will have you swooning in the end. I have to say I absolutely LOVE the cover of this book. If you are a fan of Freaky Friday then you will love this book. I can't recommend this book enough or any of her books. Sit down, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy this wonderful book.

Read this in a day!!! Unputdownable!! Laughs by the bucket full! This was such a unique story I’ve never read anything like this before. The character growth was my favorite. Her ability to write characters just floors me every time. They just jump off the page and feel so real.

If you love Ali Hazelwood books you’ll eat it up!!

It was absolutely beautiful to watch a couple who were messy and complicated but wanted, with every fiber of their beings and every corner of their hearts, to do everything in their power to make their relationship somehow work. Absolutely beautiful!!!!

I loved Ghosted by Sarah Ready and was pleasantly surprised to find that this book picks up in the same universe. As a 30 year old and unmarried woman, I found Serena's persona to be endearing and familiar. She's living her dream of being a scientist at CERN in Geneva with no regrets about leaving her California childhood behind her. She has a cute flat, a cuddly cat and her favorite local pub. And a steady stream of one-night stands between traveling footballers and handsome tourists. Nothing and no one can hold her back... until she realizes she been glued to her chair and requires a friendly stranger to free herself.

Their 24-hour romance grows a little too brightly and Serena pulls the rip-cord. Only to walk into work the next week and meet Henry, the best sex she's ever had and apparently her new boss. Then a freak accident at their Sci-Fi laboratory (i won't even try to explain) knocks them out cold, only to wake up SWITCHED in each other's body. If that wasn't freaky enough, Henry is expected home that weekend for his brother's wedding! It's one thing to meet the family... it's something else entirely to meet them while trapped in the body of their brother and introduce their brother as your girlfriend. As you! It takes fake dating to a whole new level.

The highlight is Sarah Ready's writing. She captures the scene so vividly but also explores all the nuances of self. What would it be like to see the world from the eyes of another? To see yourself without the judgment you've spent a life accumulating. Is it possible to love a person for who they are completely detached from how they appear? The way she wrote Serena's perception of Henry's soul is magnificent.

I am afraid i am not the target audience for this book.Contemporary romance is usually not my cup of tea.I just wanted to get out of my comfort zone this year and experiment with new genres. The book cover caught my eye and i liked the description so i decided to give it a shot.nfortunately i wasn’t able to finish it although it’s not for me i can appreciate it.So many things felt off for me but this is my problem with the contemporary romance in general and i can not blame it on you. Wish you all the best and good luck!i am sure the book will be successful and beloved by many!

This was a cross between Freaky Friday and Big Bang Theory. Super nerdy nerds (aka physicists - I can say this because I'm married to one) who work at CERN and end up in each other's bodies. It just so happens that the two are complete opposites too.

The premise is, of course, completely wild but, for some reason, it worked for me. I also liked that Serena talked to the reader. Sometimes I get really weirded out anytime an author uses "you" in a book but it worked here. Plus, the footnotes were HILARIOUS. They weren't needed to move the story forward but it added just a tad extra magic to this book that made me smile throughout.

When the first chapter ended up with the two main characters having sex, I was like "oh, so it's not slow burn." But BOY WAS I WRONG. Yes, they have sex in the first chapter but it gets SO MUCH BETTER and the swoonworthy moments between the two characters are just *chef's kiss*. I liked Henry more than Serena (aka Ducky) and maybe that's because I share a lot of similarities with Henry. I just found him a bit more likable.

This book is a great take on Freaky Friday and very fun to read.

Tropes:
- opposites attract
- soul mates
- grumpy (sorta) FMC/sunshine (sorta) MMC - I liked this role reversal
- forced proximity

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️
Other: 🔬🔮💖🐈
Genre: Contemporary Romance
POV: Single

Serena and Henry are opposites. Serena is a free spirit that doesn't want to get tied down and change herself for love. Henry can't wait to find his happily ever after. These two definitely have sparks but it takes a freaky Friday body swap for them to finally understand each other enough to take a chance at a real relationship.

I read a lot of contemporary romance and I absolutely love it when one rises up and surprises me. This one did. While obviously body swapping is not an original concept, this story felt fresh and new - certainly not something I've come across before. Serena as a narrator was likable and funny & smart (as an aside I'm adoring this growing trend of STEM woman in romance).

Apparently this is the second book in the series. I've already added the first book to my TBR and will look out for this author in the future.

SENSATIONAL!!! Thank you NetGalley and W.W. Crown and Imprint of Swift & Lewis Publishing for granting me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

First off, I want to thank my twin, Cara, for buddy reading this amazing book with me 💞. I had the best time giggling and crying with you. I love you so much! 🥰😘

OH MY CELESTIAL STARS!!! 💗💗💗💗💗 I absolutely loved this book so much!! Sarah Ready ALWAYS delivers for me and this is no exception!! At this point, I would read the phone book if she wrote it!! Ghosted was one of my favorite reads for 2023 so when I learned that the author was making it into a series I was beyond ecstatic!! I can say without a shadow of a doubt that book two exceeded all my expectations and is one of my favorite reads for 2024!! What a beautiful, charming, magical, hilarious and heartwarming paranormal rom-com that will remain in my heart forever!! In addition, can we just pause and appreciate this gorgeous cover of the book!!

Serena loves physics, Star Trek and her cat, Captain Purrk. She enjoys her simple life and staying permanently, happily unattached. Loving a man isn't in her future. While Henry loves physics, family and friends. He can't wait to find the woman of his dreams. Love and marriage are in his future. Complete opposites, right!?! Well, one perfect night they meet and sparks fly, particles collide and the universe comes to a halt! Until an electrical storm causes an unexpected "Freaky Friday"event at the particle collider and suddenly they've switched!! Serena is in Henry's body. Henry is in Serena's body. Now this is when life and love gets really complicated!! They have to pretend to be each other and stick together while trying to figure out how to switch back. Will they even be able to switch back?

The banter, tension, chemistry and hilarious moments between them was perfection! Henry is such a cinnamon roll, sweetheart and I love him so much!! He always followed his heart no matter the cost. I enjoyed seeing the personal growth both of them went through. Because they were living in each other's bodies it allowed them to see and feel things about one another in a new light. Honestly, it helps them to understand each other more deeply. In addition, I loved that this was about self discovery, female individualism and how you don't have to lose your identity to be with someone you love.

Overall, it was a sweet, hilarious and delightful rom-com that I highly recommend!! Of course, you will need to suspend belief to fully appreciate this wonderful love story. It truly deserves ALL the stars!! 💫💫💫💫💫

Sarah Ready does it AGAIN 🤭

plot line:
For Serena Otaki, free-spirited Californian, life is simple. She loves smashing atoms at The Large Hadron Collider near Geneva, Switzerland. She loves Star Trek, spicy tofu, and her cat, Captain Purrk. She loves her messy (slob-fest) apartment, her chaotic brand of organizing, and staying permanently, happily unattached.

Life is perfect. She has one true love—physics.

Loving a man isn’t in her future.

For Henry Joules, uptight Brit, life is simple. He loves making analog black holes, drinking piping hot tea, and organizing his pencil tray. He loves his family, red meat, and obsessively cleaning his spotless apartment.

Life is perfect. He has many loves—physics, family, friends. He can’t wait to find the woman of his dreams.

Love and marriage are in his future.

One perfect night Serena and Henry meet. Sparks fly, particles collide, the universe comes to a halt, and…

It was a mistake.
They’re too different.
It won’t work.
Love isn’t in their future.

Until an electric storm causes an unexpected event at the particle collider and suddenly—they’ve switched.

Serena is in Henry’s body.
Henry is in Serena’s body.

And both life and love are suddenly very, very complicated.

my thoughts:
wow , just wow!

my first 5 star read of 2024.
I think this is the fastest I’ve ever read a book - not that time matters , but I don’t usually tend to finish a book within 24 hours since starting it 🙃

after being skeptical and wondering “how well can someone write a story about two character switching bodies , make the plot make sense and overall enjoyable for the reader” but I’m glad Sarah put my worries to rest and showed me how it’s done.

not only did this book have so much description - that many other books tend to leave out , it also included multiple tropes , footnotes , diagrams and illustrations!
(which I’ve never seen in a book before).

Serena and Henry’s love story (in my opinion) is a masterpiece - with the twist and turns that happen in this book as a reader you feel emotionally and physically connected to these characters.

also can we talk about Henry? UGH MY HEART 💔 he is quite literally the epitome of “book husband” and will added to my never ending list of “fictional men that I love”.

i highly recommend this book for anyone who needs something comforting to read or perhaps needs a new perspective on love.

This book was so good! I love when weird things happen and this was definitely a bit weird. Serna and Henry switched bodies and must figure out how to switch back before it is too late! Super funny moments with super sweet moments. The characters were great! I loved seeing little bits of Jillian and Daniel and seeing how their story was progressing. Definitely recommend this series! Sarah Ready fan for life!

First, I was so excited about the footnotes! And the doodles and drawings were hysterical.

In this hilarious and heart-warming story, Henry meets Serena (Ducky) and they feel an instant connection but Serena never wants to get "anglerfished" to anyone.

But physics has other plans and they switch bodies and then their lives get complicated.

Since this was Book 2 in the Ghosted series, and they share some of the same characters and it had been on my TBR list, I was able to borrow "Ghosted" from the @hoopladigital app and it was wonderful, too!

So when does the third book "Fated" become available? I'll be waiting and hunting for it!

I absolutely loved the first book in this series and have enjoyed this author's books before, so I was super excited about reading this story

Serena and Henry are two physicists who meet and are instantly attracted to each other but could not be more different. She doesn't believe in love and he does. Due to an extremely implausible scientific event they switch bodies and get to know each other far better than they thought they would.

This is a charming book full of funny and sweet moments. I particularly loved the footnotes. The only thing I will say is that I found it less emotionally engaging than this author's previous books, and while I liked Serena, Henry and the whole cast of characters, I wasn't fully invested in the story.

I kept thinking of a movie I saw a long time ago with Guy Pearce and Claudia Karvan in it (an Australian film) that I really enjoyed, and I think the comparison might have dulled the entertainment value of this book for me. I think I wanted more of a connection between Serena and Henry - although their meet-cute is hilarious, I just couldn't see why these two were drawn to each other except for the fact that they are both extremely good looking.

I still enjoyed it though, and while this book wasn't my favourite by this author, I definitely hope she keeps writing.

I received an advance copy of this book. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I adore this book so much! The story sucked me in right away and didn't let go!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

What it's About (Spoiler Free):

Imagine you fell in love at a young age with science and swore off all other love in your life. Now imagine decades later during a one night stand you find yourself feeling that falling sensation again, but you push it away. Will there be consequences for running from love?

Add in some science, beautiful locations, and Star Trek references. Don't forget the the impossible aspect of switching bodies with your complete opposite!

Mix it all together and you get Switched! The second book in the Ghosted series by Sarah Ready.

My Thoughts:

This book put a lovely and interesting spin on switching bodies with another person! I thought I knew exactly what was going to happen, but there were unexpected details that popped up. These details added more depth to the characters' precarious situation of being in the wrong body.

I also really enjoyed Serena's character growth throughout the book. I often find romance books lacking in believable character development, but the author did a great job of creating realistic growth for Serena! She makes some big realizations about her life by the end of the book, but you can see her slowly coming to them throughout in a believable way.

Another strong aspect of this book, and my favorite part, is the use of graphs, diagrams, lists, and footnotes. Not only did they make the book fun to read, but they helped create a more complete picture of Serena! Some of the graphs and diagrams also helped explain some of the more intricate science concepts in the book! Perfect for somebody who is not very familiar with science terms, like me.

The only thing I did not like about this book was the description of Henry's niece. The text describes her as being a 4 year old with a lisp due to the loss of her front teeth. However, kids that young don't lose teeth yet. It's a minor detail and it doesn't matter in the larger context of the book anyway.

I definitely recommend reading this book of you love books about women in STEM and the movie Freaky Friday!

Freaky Friday but make it *romance*
Serena and Henry meet, both immediately feel this pull to one another... and while Henry is all set to take that leap, Serena is so anti-relationship that she pushes him away. Turns out that Henry is actually Serena's new boss and after a year plus of a contentious, barely neutral working relationship a mishap near the particle collider leaves them having body swapped!
Sarah Ready has quickly become an auto-read author for, and this book is another example of why! Switched is the second book in the Ghosted Series (but works as a standalone if you ask me!) and does lean a little heavily into science/science fiction and some of that went over my head, but the character development is yet again top notch. Having Serena and Henry body swapped while throwing them into situations and events with their families was such a unique way to have them gain an understanding of the other and why their one amazing night together ended the way it did. I loved both Serena and Henry and their chemistry made this story that much better!
Give this feel-good book a read if you like:- A little science fiction in your romance- Force Proximity- Fake Dating- Opposites Attract

Switched is the second book in this series, but featuring different main characters than those in Ghosted. Ghosted was my first book by Ready, but I was instantly a fan. Switched was just as good with an interesting plot, lovable characters, and a smart and sassy female lead.

I breezed through this book so fast I did not want it to end. We’ve all heard of the Freaky Friday theme, but this one really tugs at your heart. Serena we know from Ghosted, as Jillian’s best friend. Henry is new for us, but he is so lovable, adorable, and ready to fall madly in love. I wanted to jump into the book and claim him for myself! You just can’t help but root for these two.

I found this story interesting simply because both characters understand over the course of weeks how to care for one another and be for them when tragedy or a happy occasion arises.

My two favorite aspects of this book were how Ready made this book her own by including hand drawn diagrams and footnotes. Both were super funny and really added to the book. There aren’t a lot of each, but they are placed where needed. Side note: the anatomy of a Ken Doll was pretty funny.

Ready just has a way with writing a story that makes you forget your real life, which is something I really need right now. I am obsessed with her stories and her ability to create smart characters that aren’t pompous and full of themselves. Think Ali Hazelwood but better. I know, I said it.

Pick up Ghosted and Switched if you are looking for cute stories that suck you in. They are completely worth it.
