Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an arc of this book! I have been altering traditional bread recipes to make them vegan for years, but that often comes with a lot of trial and error. The instructions in this book were so easy to follow, and the bread absolutely delicious. I will be recommending to herbivores and omnivores alike!
I didn't think there were enough vegan bread recipes to make a whole cookbook, but I was pleasantly surprised! As someone who's never baked, I found these instructions very simple and easy to follow.
This was an Absolutely beautiful recipe book for baking vegan breads. The photos were so stunning and well created. The recipes were easy to understand and clear to execute. Highly recommend as part your home library for recipes.
A good collection of recipes. Perfect for any family who loves bread and/or lives a vegan lifestyle. Lots of helpful tips and good pictures.
Loved that this cookbook had so many photos! I've been wanting to make more bread at home and look forward to trying some of these recipes.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I was excited to see a vegan book for bread recipes and was hopeful that it would also offer less oils and sugars than traditional recipes, but there was still too much for my taste, so I'd have to do my own testing to replace or eliminate these ingredients. However, if you're looking for a wonderful variety of traditional breads this is a great choice. It is laid out with beautiful photos of each bread on one page, with the recipe on the page next to it, making it easy to use without flipping pages. I did find a few recipes without sugar and oils that I'd like to try, such as the Irish Soda Bread and some of the flatbreads. For one flatbread I tested, I'd suggest better wording for the instructions as I found parts somewhat ambiguous. The book is exactly as it says, "Vegan Bread", so if you're not looking for a "whole food" cookbook, this one is a great choice. Thank you to Harvard Common Press for the opportunity to review this ebook.
Wow this is an amazing vegan baking cookbook! There aren’t enough pictures for me but the recipes make up for it. So many great recipes that I never would have thought to be able to convert to a vegan recipe.
To be fair the pictures make the recipes look a little dense but to be able to still enjoy the same food while still being vegan is worth it.
So far the best vegan bread cookbook ive ever seen. Classic bread turned vegan as well as gluten free options! Love it. Recommend every vegan buy it
A good artisan bread recipe is naturally vegan it doesn't need adapting. You cannot help but think that the vegan label is there to entice, not really to inform. Unfortunately one recipe for sourdough isn't sourdough at all, it contains yeast. Not a book for me.
So many yummy recipes I can not wait to try. The instructions are simple and easy to follow. The author includes tips and tools to use. Really want to make that Island coconut pineapple bread.
Vegan baking has alluded me for the longest time. This book really helped grow my skillset and confidence. It has great recipes to follow along with and I will definitely add these to my favorites.
This is exactly what I was looking for in a homemade bread book; all the breads, from English muffins to pancakes, to bread! It's perfect. The ingredients and measurements looked correct. I cant wait to try a recipe!
I was so excited to get this cookbook! Finally a good book about making vegan bread. I tried four of these recipes, and they all turned out great! I can't wait to use more of this book in the future. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital ARC of this book.
This looks to be a very interesting and unique cookbook focusing on vegan bread variations.
I was originally drawn to this title because my sister has a severe dairy allergy and I love baking bread. I thought there could be some recipes in here that I could share with her.
There are a variety of both savory and sweet breads with nice directions. All seem to have simple ingredients. While I haven't baked any of them yet, I have read most of them and made notes of ones I definitely will try. I've actually purchased some of the ingredients already.
There aren't photos for each recipe. I know that is difficult to provide. But as a novice baker, that is something I truly appreciate having. I did enjoy the opening chapter that set up the whole book and had additional tips.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read an advanced copy of this book. I'm happy to leave an honest review.
This book looks so good. Unfortunately due to a very long list of food allergies there are still only a couple recipes I may be able to try but that is not the book's fault. I should know by now I'm lucky if there is anything at all in a cookbook that I may be able to try. A girl can look and dream though, right?
I am not vegan myself but I have friends who are so I am super excited to try these recipes and impressing them with my skills lol
i have been vegan for 10 years and just started making my own sourdough. now that i have basic artisan bread down, i wanted to branch out but most recipes have dairy or eggs. i was so excited to have all of these recipes in one place, and can not wait to make brioche! my favorite vegan brioche is like $8 a loaf and i can never justify it, but now i can make it at home! basically any kind of bread you can think of can be found in this book.
I expected based on the title and cover photo that this would be a book of bread loaf recipes, but I was incorrect. The recipes are in 7 chapters: Muffins, Scones, and Other Breakfast Breads and Quick Breads; Biscuits, Buns, and Rolls; Everyday Loaves; Artisan and European Breads; Veggie, Nut, and Seed Breads; Fruit Breads and Sweet Loaves; and Flatbreads. There is a good variety in here and a wide range of flavors. Some of the recipes are for items that are normally vegan, while others switch out ingredients for things like maple syrup, vegan butter, oil instead of butter, and vegan cheese.
There are color photos but only for probably a third of the recipes, while I would have liked to see all of them.
This is a good book for those interested in exploring vegan baking.
Creativity and Exploration are the key ingredients to making vegan bread and I would say any baked goods. The book realises this and encourages it and I liked that. Things can go wrong, thats just the way baking is.
There are recipes to cater to everyone, but I was particular interested in the unusual ones I had not heard before. Lentil flatbread, right at the end aroused my curiosity. And the sourdough without a starter was something I had not heard about before.
Breads for every occasion and a welcome addition to any bakers kitchen. I would have enjoyed more photos, however, other recipe books usually have more photos than this particular collection.
Baking Vegan Bread at Home is a wonderful cookbook filled with great recipes for breads of all kinds. From basic loafs, to sweet breads, naan and desserts you will surely find something that you will love. Though I am not Vegan, I do love to bake breads and I was interested to see if I could find recipes that I would enjoy or even alter for my family's needs. I was quite happy to find many tasty recipes for my whole family to enjoy.
From her basic loaves, sweet breads, to artisan breads, and naan there is so many options to choose from. I loved how most of her recipes included a photo which were highly appetizing, and helpful tips. Some of my personal favorites were the Deep South Homemade Biscuits, Garlic Herb Vegan Naan Bread, Sunny Day Lemon Loaf, and the Gooey Cinnamon Swirl Bread. Though I haven't been able to test each recipe, I thoroughly enjoyed every recipe I tried. This cookbook is perfect for both Vegan and non-Vegan alike, I would highly recommend checking it out.
