Description
Everyone deserves good homemade bread, but if you are a vegan or have one in your household, it has long been challenging to bake a luscious, earthy plant-based loaf to serve and enjoy, simply because so many breads and flavored breads contain animal products like eggs, milk, cream, and butter. Vegan baking has seen great improvements in recent years, however, and the tide has turned.
In more than 70 recipes that range from the familiar and kid-friendly to the rustic and artisanal, celebrated vegan blogger Shane Martin reveals how fun and delectable it is to bake vegan breads. With everyday sandwich loaves and elegant French- and Italian-inspired artisan rounds and loaves, and with lots of sweet or cheesy filled breads and quick breads, Baking Vegan Bread at Home serves up a feast of honest and healthy homemade goodness. It includes:
- Family-style loaves from whole wheat and white to rye, pumpernickel, and sourdough
- Artisan breads like focaccia, ciabatta, challah, baguettes, and boules
- Amazing flavored breads made with fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, and, best of all, chocolate!
- Muffins, scones, pancakes, waffles, and donuts for breakfast, brunch, or snacks
- Biscuits, buns, rolls, crackers, pitas, pizza doughs, and cornbread
With lots of tips and tricks for making plant-based breads as good as or better than the “originals,” this pathbreaking book will have you baking deeply flavorful and incredibly healthy vegan breads in no time.

Don’t read this when hungry! So many yummy recipes - Naan, Buttery Brioche, Challah, and Milk Bread - to name a few. I’ve been vegan for a few years and finding good bread recipes is always a challenge. The beginning of the book has good instructions and suggested tools. The recipes are easy to follow and include tips. Now I just have to choose which recipe to start with!
I loved how simple and easy to understand this recipes are. The ingredients list on each side. Very friendly. Can't wait to try the recipes.
Great recipes, for vegans and non-vegans alike. Let’s start baking! Easy to follow, a good mix of detailed description to bake the various breads as well as deliciously looking pictures of the bakes breads to add the extra motivation needed to get in your own kitchen instead of buying bread at the store. Nice variety and great tips to live and eat plant-based.
Baking Vegan Bread at Home : Beautiful Everyday and Artisan Plant-Based Breads. This book includes 70 fabulous vegan recipes from muffins, biscuits, pizza doughs, fruit breads right through to traditional family loaves. Shop bought Vegan bread can be expensive and can contain unwelcome ingredients, so this book is a great resource. As well as the delicious recipes the book includes lots of additional tips and useful information.
Good vegan bread can be hard to find. It often contains fillers that can be unwanted or inflammatory and I have been wanting to make more baked goods at home.
This is a beautiful cookbook! Many of the recipes are accompanied by a photo and I just love the variety in these recipes.
While I have not had a chance to make many of the recipes just yet, I am confident (just based on what I know about cooking vegan cuisine myself as well as the few that I have tried) that some of these recipes are likely to become frequent go-tos in my house. I look forward to diving into this cookbook more and trying these recipes!

This book is gorgeous and I’m always looking for more yummy vegan recipes to try. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this advanced copy!
I'm familiar with Shane's recipes and have had my eye on this book. I haven't tried making anything but I have paged through the download version and I am impressed by the variety of things to make.
Since this is vegan, and not Whole Foods Plant Based, there are a number of recipes that call for oils or plant based butters and cheese. This does make a difference to me as plant based butters and cheese are largely oil and that is something I try not to consume too much of. However, the book doesn't promise that the recipes are oil-free so I'm not deducting stars for that.
I believe this is a five star book; based on what I see and my experience with Shane's recipes in the past.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a great cookbook, with interesting and useful recipes.
i have been vegan for 10 years and just started making my own sourdough. now that i have basic artisan bread down, i wanted to branch out but most recipes have dairy or eggs. i was so excited to have all of these recipes in one place, and can not wait to make brioche! my favorite vegan brioche is like $8 a loaf and i can never justify it, but now i can make it at home! basically any kind of bread you can think of can be found in this book.
