Baking Vegan Bread at Home : Beautiful Everyday and Artisan Plant-Based Breads. This book includes 70 fabulous vegan recipes from muffins, biscuits, pizza doughs, fruit breads right through to traditional family loaves. Shop bought Vegan bread can be expensive and can contain unwelcome ingredients, so this book is a great resource. As well as the delicious recipes the book includes lots of additional tips and useful information.

Good vegan bread can be hard to find. It often contains fillers that can be unwanted or inflammatory and I have been wanting to make more baked goods at home.

This is a beautiful cookbook! Many of the recipes are accompanied by a photo and I just love the variety in these recipes.

While I have not had a chance to make many of the recipes just yet, I am confident (just based on what I know about cooking vegan cuisine myself as well as the few that I have tried) that some of these recipes are likely to become frequent go-tos in my house. I look forward to diving into this cookbook more and trying these recipes!

Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for providing an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

In the 10 pages before delving into his recipes Shane Martin introduces us to his passion for vegan bread baking. He follows his introduction with details and explanations of pantry staples, tools of the trade, gluten free options and beautiful full color photographs before inviting us along on a journey of plant based bread baking.

Each chapter offers one delight after another. The jalapeño cornbread muffins on page 28 are the perfect complement to a bowl of vegan chili on a blustery winter day. “Better Than Deli Sandwich Rolls” (p. 51) so simple to make and tasty you won’t want to use a store bought roll again.

Then the bread loaves begin. Oh, the bread loaves from classics like white bread and Irish soda bread, sweet breads like cranberry orange, flat breads like classic naan and even crackers you will want to bake your way through the entire book.

Baking Vegan Bread at Home is a beautifully crafted bread book for beginning and skilled bakers. If you’re interested in learning to make your own vegan bread at home this is a great resource to add to your collection.

Another book by a blogger who is pushing vegan recipes by simply exchanging milk/butter/eggs and cheese for vegan equivalents. Nothing wrong in that of course but it doesn't take that many grey cells to do it for yourself from traditional cook books you have already surely? Apparently his 'better-than-deli-sandwich-rolls' will have 'even the biggest carnivores begging for seconds'. They are bread buns made with typical bread bun ingredients - water, flour, yeast, oil, salt and (being American) sugar. Vegan yes, but so are 'normal' bread rolls in my household as are wholemeal, rustic rye and basic white loaves, the list goes on. Traditional recipes for a wide range of breads in the broadest sense, nice illustrations. If you want to bake breads ad don't have books already this would be fine, if you have, forget it and simply exchange the dairy milk/egg/s for vegan alternatives. Simples. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy.

I'm familiar with Shane's recipes and have had my eye on this book. I haven't tried making anything but I have paged through the download version and I am impressed by the variety of things to make.

Since this is vegan, and not Whole Foods Plant Based, there are a number of recipes that call for oils or plant based butters and cheese. This does make a difference to me as plant based butters and cheese are largely oil and that is something I try not to consume too much of. However, the book doesn't promise that the recipes are oil-free so I'm not deducting stars for that.

I believe this is a five star book; based on what I see and my experience with Shane's recipes in the past.

Don’t read this when hungry! So many yummy recipes - Naan, Buttery Brioche, Challah, and Milk Bread - to name a few. I’ve been vegan for a few years and finding good bread recipes is always a challenge. The beginning of the book has good instructions and suggested tools. The recipes are easy to follow and include tips. Now I just have to choose which recipe to start with!

Great recipes, for vegans and non-vegans alike. Let’s start baking! Easy to follow, a good mix of detailed description to bake the various breads as well as deliciously looking pictures of the bakes breads to add the extra motivation needed to get in your own kitchen instead of buying bread at the store. Nice variety and great tips to live and eat plant-based.
