Emerson and Stone knew each other as teenagers when Stone was best friends with Emerson's brother. Back then he had a crush on her but when her parents blamed him for "stealing" a football scholarship from their son Stone cut all ties to her family. Now he is a football pro and she is a struggling singer-songwriter. As she just happens to move in next to Stone they can't really ignore each other and old feelings may resurface....
I liked reading the book but the story didn't really wow me. I couldn't really relate to the main characters and I didn't feel any chemistry between them. The whole story is a lot of back and forth, nobody seems to really know what they want and the whole family feud thing was just completely unbelievable: at first Emerson seems entirely into it and then she seems to forget about it and inthe end with just one phone call she realizes that what her parents made her believe was not true. For real? Like she wouldn't have realized that wayyyy before?
All in all an okay read but not more.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sweet Escape Publishing for the ARC of this one in exchange for a review. Overall, I enjoyed this one. It was a run of the mill typical romance that seemed to be loosely based off of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. I have never read anything by this author but it seemed similar in style to people like Lucy Score, Corinne Michaels, Laura Pavlov, Elsie Silver etc. I knew exactly what would happen the whole time which is exactly what I was expecting. Will I remember it? Probably not. But I would definitely read other books by this author in the future if I'm looking for a sweet and quick read. Thanks for the opportunity to review it.
This was such a sweet romance! I loved the depth in it by how Stone and Emerson both had to overcome family issues. It kept me interested throughout. The lucky charms were so sweet. I was able to relate with both main characters which helped my stay intrigued to find out what would happen in the end. Love love loved it!
Lucky Charm has potential, but it missed the mark for me.
The story is predictable with enemies fake dating, which isn’t troublesome in itself since this trope is such a part of the genre, but there is very little plot beyond that. The plot set-up does have potential for more depth; the main characters could use a dose of chemistry; and, humor along the way wouldn’t go amiss.
For me, Lucky Charm isn’t terrible, but neither is it a must read.
