An extraordinary book written by a brilliant psychiatrist who genuinely cares about people

Acclaimed psychiatrist Dr. Binh Ngolton’s book “The “Ocean Within” is an wonderful, highly useful book that will inspire readers to transform their lives for the better!

“The Ocean Within” presents an empowering, unique way for us view ourselves. Dr. Ngolton’s introduces the “Circle of Needs” which is a practical concept and system that is not overwhelming and very accessible. I’ve read numerous books written by psychiatrists; and many of them have a “holier than thou” attitude. One of the aspects I especially appreciate in “The Ocean Within” is how Dr. Ngolton shares his own story, never coming across as being superior to the reader. His expertise and compassion for people elevates this book within the self help genre.

I encourage you to read this fantastic book! The “The Ocean Within” will help laypeople and professionals move through life being more present, more understanding of human nature, and more able to navigate life’s challenges.

I enjoy reading this book. I was going through a rough time and I have to say that it gave me a bit of peace and hope. I'm not sure I'm ready to adopt the perspective of the author, but at least a few things I managed to make mine.

I was drawn to the cover image of the book - a lotus within a drop in a stormy ocean. Peace and tranquility in the midst of noise. The Ocean Within by Dr Binh Ngolton sets out to show us how to achieve that inner peace in our daily lives.

Dr Ngolton, a board-certified clinical psychiatrist, discusses the major stressors that disturb our mental well-being and how through the practice of mindfulness and meditation we can restore peace within.

The writing style is soothing and compassionate. But tends to get monotonous at times. Pruning off repetitions could make the writing powerful.

I feel that citing real-life stories and anecdotes of how applying the techniques of mindfulness and meditation helped Dr Ngolton's patients recover could make the book a useful resource.

Meditation is already a crowded book category. Differentiating is a must to avoid being a "me too".

Vast birds-eye-view of the human psyche, written in a kind and personable voice. For my communities, it's too broad at the expense of depth, and makes generalizations about sexuality and gender that don't resonate.
