One of six such books, apparently, that have a very basic presence and level of science. It's definitely a "my first coral reef book" as a clownfish guide takes us through some of the biology of the place, cartoonishly superimposed as he is on to some very marvellous photographs. As a beginner's volume it's fine, but if your school library has a book selection with chapters on this subject already you can tell it's worth investing in something with a bit more depth. Four stars proves there is nothing inherently wrong here, mind.

The book has a lot of good information about coral reefs and delievers it in a nice age approbiate way. Using actual pictures of coral reefs etc. is benificial. However... I really did not like the look of the narrator - the little clownfish. Why did they make him look like that? He looks hunted. I really wish they would have gone with a different look for him.

This was such a cute book. I had to read off my phone because my iPad didn’t download the images correctly.

The illustrations were great and the pictures were real and educational. I really liked it

Cute book with a clownfish explaining what it knows about a coral reef.
It was very hard to read in Kindle as things were all grey blobbed out. I turned to the NetGalley app to read it and there it looked better with what I saw as blobs in Kindle were actually the title and contents page. Hopefully that was fixed for release.

This is a nice first introduction to coral reefs. My 4-year-old found it interesting and asked questions. It is very basic, though, so its best audience is likely pre-schoolers older reluctant readers reading on their own.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

This is a fun and informative read about coral reefs, explained by a clownfish who lives in one. The photos are all so pretty and go well with the story.

Dive right into this little wonder! A colorful and informative read written in simple language for children ages 8-11 that discusses some basic information about coral reefs, the animals and plants that live there, and how important they are to coastal communities. A quick read for young readers who have mastered the basics and are ready for a little challenge. Mini glossary will be helpful for young children as it explains terms in simple language.. Index seems a bit redundant in a book of this length, but is a nice feature in any reference text (which this title could be used as). A good book to kick off a unit learning about marine ecosystems or to pique young readers' interests in a new and fast-vanishing area of study.

"Ask an Animal About a Coral Reef" by Rebecca Phillips-Barlett is a nonfiction children's picture book. I like this book with its beautiful underwater photographs combined with the cartoon clownfish host, Carrie.

There is a lot of information packed into this 24 page book. You learn about what a coral reef is and what animals live there, as well as about anemones, sea sponges and reef sharks, to name just a few.

This book has a table of contents, a glossary, and an index, which can teach young children about parts of nonfiction books and how to use them.

Great book for a school library or classroom and families with kids who love the ocean!

Thank you to Netgalley and Rosen Publishing Group, Windmill Books for providing this e-book so I could give you my honest review.

Primary and elementary readers will enjoy learning about the coral reef and some of the environmental dangers it faces. The book is narrated by a cartoon clownfish, who also touches on other ocean habitats, such as the sea anemone. Good for an introduction to coral reefs, but very brief in the information provided. Other sources may be needed if doing research to learn about the coral reefs.

4/5 Stars

This book was read aloud by me, to my four and six year old. It was wonderfully colorful, with excellent pictures for the kids to enjoy. We got to answer many FAQs about Coral Reefs. Overall, there wasn't a lot of material to engage with, but the material that was there was excellent. Highly recommend to kids who love the sea and want to learn a little bit more about one aspect of sea life.

Thank you Rosen Publishing Group and Windmill Books and author Rebecca Phillips-Barlett for this eARC.

I didn't realize this was a series. What a fantastic way to share information! Even though there weren't many words, I feel like I learned a lot from this little picture book. Our guide was a fish and the photographs were stunning. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

AAsk an Animal About A Coral Reef was a great read aloud! It has some really great facts about the coral reef and aquatic life! I also like how some words are bolded to help add emphasis. The illustrations are beautiful and realistic while not being overly stimulating. What a great informational story!
