AAsk an Animal About A Coral Reef was a great read aloud! It has some really great facts about the coral reef and aquatic life! I also like how some words are bolded to help add emphasis. The illustrations are beautiful and realistic while not being overly stimulating. What a great informational story!
I didn't realize this was a series. What a fantastic way to share information! Even though there weren't many words, I feel like I learned a lot from this little picture book. Our guide was a fish and the photographs were stunning. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
4/5 Stars
This book was read aloud by me, to my four and six year old. It was wonderfully colorful, with excellent pictures for the kids to enjoy. We got to answer many FAQs about Coral Reefs. Overall, there wasn't a lot of material to engage with, but the material that was there was excellent. Highly recommend to kids who love the sea and want to learn a little bit more about one aspect of sea life.
Thank you Rosen Publishing Group and Windmill Books and author Rebecca Phillips-Barlett for this eARC.

Thank you to NetGalley for this e-copy of “Ask an Animal About a Coral Reef” by Rebecca Phillips-Barlett in exchange for a honest review. This is a cute, non-fiction story about coral reefs told by Carrie the Clownfish.Carrie tells about all the plants and animals that live in the coral reef and use this habitat to both survive and thrive..Clownfish, algae, sharks etc all live in the coral reef. The coral reef also protects humans.Read this book and find out how.Perfect for emergent readers.Lots of great illustrations.
Primary and elementary readers will enjoy learning about the coral reef and some of the environmental dangers it faces. The book is narrated by a cartoon clownfish, who also touches on other ocean habitats, such as the sea anemone. Good for an introduction to coral reefs, but very brief in the information provided. Other sources may be needed if doing research to learn about the coral reefs.
"Ask an Animal About a Coral Reef" by Rebecca Phillips-Barlett is a nonfiction children's picture book. I like this book with its beautiful underwater photographs combined with the cartoon clownfish host, Carrie.
There is a lot of information packed into this 24 page book. You learn about what a coral reef is and what animals live there, as well as about anemones, sea sponges and reef sharks, to name just a few.
This book has a table of contents, a glossary, and an index, which can teach young children about parts of nonfiction books and how to use them.
Great book for a school library or classroom and families with kids who love the ocean!
Thank you to Netgalley and Rosen Publishing Group, Windmill Books for providing this e-book so I could give you my honest review.
Dive right into this little wonder! A colorful and informative read written in simple language for children ages 8-11 that discusses some basic information about coral reefs, the animals and plants that live there, and how important they are to coastal communities. A quick read for young readers who have mastered the basics and are ready for a little challenge. Mini glossary will be helpful for young children as it explains terms in simple language.. Index seems a bit redundant in a book of this length, but is a nice feature in any reference text (which this title could be used as). A good book to kick off a unit learning about marine ecosystems or to pique young readers' interests in a new and fast-vanishing area of study.
This is a fun and informative read about coral reefs, explained by a clownfish who lives in one. The photos are all so pretty and go well with the story.
Great facts about coral reefs. Bright and colorful real life images of under the sea. Engaging questions throughout the book to learn information about coral reefs. Kids will enjoy learning while reading this book.
This is a nice first introduction to coral reefs. My 4-year-old found it interesting and asked questions. It is very basic, though, so its best audience is likely pre-schoolers older reluctant readers reading on their own.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
