In this hustle and bustle world where the day never seems to end this book is much needed. It is full of affirmations, challenges and good ways to self talk. It will not take much time to read it but it will perk you up on those overwhelming days.
As a therapist, I’m always looking for new resources to share with my patients and new books to buy for my office - this will be both of those things for me! I loved the illustrations, quotes, “30 days of..” challenges and all round positivity this book encompasses. Everyone needs happy reminders on hard days and this book has them in abundance.
A little gem of a book 💎
An abundance of colour, cute illustrations and words of positivity.
However, I did find it a little too much at times. The pages are VERY busy so some may find it a tad overwhelming.
A gentle and empowering guide to self-care, compassion, and forgiveness; equally colourful and uplifting, A Little Drop of Courage is a reminder to accept and love ourselves through life's ups and downs.
I absolutely loved this book and found so much comfort in something so little. This is exactly what I needed to read today. I will be buying my own copy to flip through when its released on April 23rd. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an E-ARC.
A beautiful book of self compassion, empathy, affirmations, and therapy skills. A great reminder to be gentle with yourself in all seasons of life, wrapped up in colorful & meaningful artwork!
A Little Drop of Courage by Hayley Kaye is a mini-book with colored illustrations but with powerful advice and empowering messages. The book is meant to be, as the title suggests, a drop of courage, which is valuable, especially in hard times. It is mostly dwelling on healing, which most of us require, in one aspect of our lives or another. The book covers several topics like encouraging the readers to acknowledge their feelings without judgment, dealing compassionately with themselves, discovering the strength within, celebrating being human with no regrets, and keeping on going no matter the challenges as they are essential for life because eventually they will make us strong, not being too hard on ourselves, and lastly, as we are kind on others, to remember to be kind on ourselves too. These are only a portion of the topics the readers will find in this book.
The book is intended to make readers pause and reflect on life, let their feelings flow, and just appreciate being human. I appreciate the messages on page 45, "No matter how hard it gets, remember to..." and 51, "I will not compare my journey.". Reading this book opened my mind to learning to appreciate my feelings, while trying to know their source, as there is always one. Additionally, I like the simplicity of the book.
I rate this book, A Little Drop of Courage by Hayley Kaye, 4 out of 5 stars.
I recommend the book to those readers in need of healing from some kind of tremor in their lives. Moreover, I have realized that as one goes through the book, readers will find that some parts may not apply to their lives, but others appear to talk straightforwardly to them, meaning the book touches all of us, it is a significant resource that will enlighten its readers on life matters, to say the least, after all, we are all human.
I loved this book so much that I immediately preordered it on Amazon. I will definitely recommend this to all my friends and my patrons at the library!
I really enjoyed these "one-pagers" around courage, bravery, and self-care. I think that each page on its own could be used as a poster in a classroom or an office. These will be helpful when I'm having a down day!
I did think that the organization and flow could have used a little tweaking. But I enjoyed every single page.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Adorable book! Vivid colors and illustrations. It could easily be incorporated into curriculum with pre-teens to help strengthen self-confidence. Every page could be a visual in a classroom within itself. Excellent coverage of feelings and showing how they are normal.
This book was amazing. I only just recently discovered Hayley Kaye's work via Instagram (I love when I find new-to-me creatives on Instagram). When I found out Hayley has a book that was being published, I knew I had to read it.
A Little Drop of Courage is full of little messages and words of encouragement. I love the 30 Days pieces in the book. The illustrations were colorful and perfect compliment to the messages in the book. This was a quick read, but a perfect pick-me-up.
A Little Drop of Courage : A Daily Guide for Cultivating Courage Through Gentleness and Self-Compassion. This is a colourful, bold and bright self help book. It is full of self help messages with colourful doodles, and 30 day calendars with a message or 'To Do' for each day. There is nothing mind blowing but it is a nice way to present all the ideas, and is lovely to browse through, or just dip in and out off. Just the bold right colours will give you a boost
As a therapist I really love how digestible the content is with the illustrations and it touches on great topics such a rest, self compassion and dialectics of feelings. However I find the layout does not have the best flow as it jumps from topic to topic with the definition of a concept such as the “what self compassion is” page being separated from all of the other self compassion topics/pages. I think that would be confusing for readers unless a therapist were directing them to specific pages.
I LOVED A Little Drop of Courage! I've been following Hayley Kaye's Instagram for a while, and I really love her work. I love the bright colors and positive messaging. I like the acknowledgement that it's ok to not be ok.
I love the "30 days of...." calendars. Very inspiring and bite-size acts to do.
