As a school librarian, I can see how this would be a great book to teach about borrowing books and not keeping them too long so that other kids can borrow them. However, Bob's first-person narration didn't quite work for me and mainly ended up feeling awkward. I think it would've worked better for the book to be in third person, but maybe that's just me. Nevertheless, I hope that it finds the kids that need it and helps teach kids about loving to borrow books!

As an avid bookworm, this book is such a delight. I've been reading ever since I learnt how, and even before that I was obsessed with picture books. I love that this story teaches children the joys of library books and how important it is to take care of them. Add that to the fact that Bob is such an adorable character, and every kid is bound to be hooked to these enticing visuals. Must read!
This book was super cute, a meta-story about the book itself when it gets checked out from an elementary school library and ends up overdue and forgotten. As the mother of a second grader who brings books home from his school library on a weekly basis, I really felt for Bob! Boy, the things those school library books must go through visiting kids' houses. I'll do better to make sure we read all the books that come home so they don't feel left out!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are mine
This book is every librarian and readers experience. The book follows Bob everyones favourite library book and the most borrowed book. He is borrowed by Sebastian who completely forgets about him and he begins to feel unloved and unread. This a funny relatable book.
I've taught Jeremiah how to properly respect books pretty much his entire life. We don't stand on books, we don't get food or drink on books, we turn the pages geeeentttllllly. We love our books! And we love our library!
I have not, though, taught him the importance of returning a book to a library on time. Which is shameful, considering I currently owe my library $4.20 for overdue books.
Oops.
Bob the Book is VERY popular. All the kids want to read him, and he LOVES being read. Sebastian has long been waiting to read Bob, and FINALLY it's his turn!
Unfortunately, Sebastian also kind of sort of loses Bob. And he goes unread for a loooooong time.
Seriously, this is the cutest ever. It would be fantastic for a beginning of the year read aloud for school children, to remind them to always treat their library books with the care they deserve.
Love love.
This is a perfect book to read at the start of the school year or anytime when reviewing book care is needed. The illustrations are more of a graphic novel format which wil be a hit with students. Definitely purchasing for my library!
Overdue is a very cute book with a good message for kids learning how to use the library. Super fun while still teaching ideas of taking care of shared materials, responsibility, etc.
A cute book about libraries and library books and what it means to be a responsible library user. As someone with experience in an elementary school library, this book felt relatable when referring to those popular texts that everyone wants to read.
Thank you to the publisher and author for providing a review digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Overdue is about the most popular book at the school library. It is a cute story with a lesson about community kindness. It would make a great addition to any library, not just school libraries, to help re-enforce the importance of consideration for your neighbors by taking care of your library books.
In Overdue: The Misadventure of Bob the Book by Gloria Koster, illustrated by Pawel Gierlinski, we meet Bob, the most popular book ever at the school library where he resides. But one day, Sebastian checks Bob out, takes him home, and forgets about him! Will he ever make it back to the library? Will his story ever be read again? Find out in this humorous story that would make a perfect read-aloud for storytime. I received a free ebook copy of this title in exchange for a fair review.
As a librarian, I absolutely loved this book. I think it connects the library experience with children and helps them realize how the library works. It was a cute and easy read and I can see it being popular at my library!
Bob the Book is always thrilled when the students of Wisdom Hill Elementary School want to borrow him as he LOVES to be read. BUT, when a visit to Sebastian's house turns into an extended stay, Bob just wants to go somewhere he's appreciated.
This was a delightful read, and a treat for book lovers of all ages. It's always a joy to watch someone discover a love of reading. And, Bob even offers some much appreciated tips on caring for borrowed items at the end of the book.
as a children’s librarian, cannot wait to read this to my kiddos the first week of school. funny and insightful, the kids will love it.
A cute quick read with colorful illustrations and a list of library book do's and don'ts at the end, could be a useful introduction to libraries for young kids.
Thank you, Netgalley, for allowing me to read and review this book. These opinions are completely my own.

As a Librarian, I LOVED this book!! Sweet little Bob shows us the exciting life of a library book and gives us humorous insight into every library book's worst fear-getting lost. I laughed throughout Bob's harrowing ordeal, thinking about the condition in which some of our library books return. I also appreciated the tips for taking care of ones library books that can be found at the end of the story. I cannot wait to incorporate this book into a story time! I will definitely recommend this book for purchase.

OVERDUE by Gloria Koster tells the story of Bob, a beloved library book that finds himself overdue at a reader’s home. Will he ever make it back to the shelves—or into the hands of an eager reader—again?
With cute artwork and a relatable storyline, this will be a fun book to share at the beginning of the school year to help introduce young readers to the importance of caring for, returning, and enjoying their library books.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sharing an eARC of the book with me.
As a former librarian I just had to read this.
It's a fun and short story about a library book that went missing. This book shows children how to resposibly take care for library books. The artwork made the story alive and nice to look at.
Maybe some adults should also read this story, to remember to bring back their books on time and to treat them right!
