This is such a cute little story that is perfect for librarians to read with students as part of library orientation. Instead of just getting a list of arbitrary rules about how to treat the books, they now have a spokesman for treating books well through the personification of Bob the Book.

This is such a wonderful book for librarians and teachers to use to teach the importance of taking care of books, especially when they are checked out and being taken home. (PS I absolutely love the cover of this book!)
Bob the book is loved by all his classmates and gets to go home and have a wonderful time with so many children, until one day he goes to the Forester home. He is mistreated and NOT READ and then gets lost in all the clutter of the house. Bob is then forgotten. It isn't until a note comes home from the teacher that says this book needs to be brought back before the end of the school year. Dad tells the kids that they have to find the book and Sebastian does end of finding him and reading Bob. Bob becomes his favorite book and Sebastian gets to have him over the summer as well.
I love the tips at the end of the book that teach children how to take care of books!

OH NO! THE DREADED MISSING LIBRARY BOOK!
I loved the diversity of children attending Wisdom Hill Elementary School.
Bob is a super popular book that struggles when being mistreated at a new home. How will he survive?!
The care tips in the back we such a smart addition.

This was a cute book about a popular book who gets lost and then found. Great for elementary readers and their families.

Ok, this book was way too cute. As an elementary school librarian, I have been on the adult side of this situation far too many times. I love the was this story gets into the mind of the book and imagines what IT must be feeling when it is left under a bed, on a shelf, in a cabinet, etc. I will definitely be purchasing this book and adding it to my list of books to read to kids for my beginning of year library book care lessons.

My son read this book and loved it. His favorite part was when he was finally remembered by the boy and he started reading him a lot. He got to go home with him in the summer and that was better than the first time. He gave it 5 out of 5 stars. I will be buying this book for my school to have.

A very cute children’s book about caring about the books you borrow from the library. It was very sweet and the artwork is simple with the text very easy to read.
Adorable

I loved this cute book. It is perfect for teaching kids book care. As a librarian I will be purchasing this book and using it to help students learn. It is hard to find good fun books that teach book care lessons. This book nailed it.

I absolutely adored this book! As an avid reader since childhood with a teacher for a mom, this book was an absolute delight! Told from the book’s POV it was an incredibly refreshing tale of students and their library mishaps. I especially enjoyed how Sebastian, the boy who borrowed Bob the book, was not portrayed as a bad kid but rather a forgetful one who later learned to treasure the stories Bob had to tell. This book belongs in classrooms and media centers everywhere!

This is such an adorable children’s book. My 3 year old and 6 year old loved it. It’s the perfect book to show kids how to care for library books. Every library should have this book!

As a school librarian, I tried to teach elementary school students how to take good care of the library books they borrowed. It was difficult to find an interesting book to read aloud on this topic. The text and illustrations in Overdue were thoroughly enjoyable and presented an excellent lesson. I hope school teachers and librarians will discover this gem of a book.

This is such a cute book. If I still taught elementary school I would totally buy this book and add it to the library. I think every librarian should read this on the kids' first visit to the school library. Such a cute way to teach kids the proper care and handling of any book! The illustrations are great, simple and clear. I love that the main character is the book!!!!

What a cute story! And, very relatable since we have had the letters home about unreturned library books from school and had to search the house for them!
Great illustrations as well and my only feedback would be for a different font in the yellow squares.

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC!

Oh Bob! What a fun book to read — an absolute adventure for what library books can go through when borrowed. It’s an entirely relatable book for any library lover and avid book reader. It was so comforting to understand how truly loved Bob is by the students in the class and his importance in their life! The illustrations are colorful and express each situation that Bob is found in extremely well. I’m sure this book will become a staple in libraries, especially Children’s rooms. Great information about book care can be found at the end. I can’t wait to buy this book!

Absolutely loved this cute book! Read it to my son who loves checking out books from his school library and we can related to Sebastian at the beginning of being allowed to check out books! We have gotten way better & I think this is an amazing book and all school libraries should own this and or read it! My son says he rates it 5 stars and was naming his personal favorite books

Love Bob and love the book!
It's a magical way of reminding young readers to take good care of their books. A librarian has the same reminders, but this is a humorous way of bringing the lesson home. The follow-up is especially important. What a great way to jog someone's memory to take care of their books and bring them back on time...or as close to the due date as possible.

This was so cute! I loved the illustrations, and I LOVED that Bob got found in the end! What a fantastic book about taking care of library books! I will definitely be sure this is ordered for our shelves!

Read with my six and eight year olds – we all loved it! 6yo says "I loved it so much! [She] loved the pictures" and 8yo says "[he] likes it because [he] loves reading and because [he] also has overdue books sometimes." It was genuinely a super cute story, and as the parent hunting for overdue books, I got a good laugh out of the book, too!

Overdue is a nice, straightforward story about Bob the library book and what happens when - gasp - his most recent library patron, Sebastian, forgets to bring him back. Bob is trapped at home, wondering if he'll ever return to his library and his glory as one of the most requested books.
This books was straightfoward and an easy read. It would be very easy to incorporate into a library lesson at the beginning of the year. As a reader and teacher, I did wish for more of a story arc from the main characters. With Bob hanging out for an entire school year, it just felt like more could have happened to him or with Sebastian. Still a good read overall, and I could see kids making connections to other things that have been misplaced or lost at home before.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author and the illustrator for ARC access.

Of course a librarian would select a book about books! This is a great one to teach kids how to use the library, and how borrowing a book works. It’s about a book who gets borrowed by a not-so-responsible kid. He fears all hope is lost as the seasons change and still he isn’t returned. And even worse - the kid hasn’t even read him yet! Of course this has a happy ending, and I think it’d be a good companion to Bad Seed Goes to the Library.
