Thank you to NetGalley for giving me a digital ARC of Overdue.

This is an adorable book that teaches the importance of taking care of your library books (and all books in general). The lovely anthropomorphized book is comedic and brings you through his chaotic journey to find his way back to the library.

This is a great book for kids who are checking out books for the first time and need to learn proper library etiquette.

This was a cute story about a book that goes missing, but I found that a lot of it was fluff (why was it necessary for Sebastian's dad to move Bob? I thought this would come back later, but couldn't Bob have just been buried in Sebastian's stuff? And why did Sebastian's dad move Bob to the cookbook collection????? All my questions surround Sebastian's dad and /what does he think he's doing?????/)

I thought the tips at the end for library book care were a nice touch and a great conversation piece, but I didn't think library book care was the big takeaway from this book (the takeaway is.......dad is confused...........)

(Ok ok I know I'm being super picky about this, but I think this is due to my mother gaslighting me as a child when it came to my belongings and how I needed to "take care of [my] stuff" when she would hide my things from me as a psychotic form of punishment. I just didn't love the fact that his dad literally says, "This entire family needs to be more responsible. No movie night for anyone unless we find that book," when HE was the one who moved it from Sebastian's bedroom to a place that made zero sense. Did he think Sebastian just took a cookbook to put in his room for fun?? A cookbook that looks like a children's storybook????? And then he never owns up to it or apologizes or anything?? I get it, Sebastian should have taken more care of the book, but he's a straight-up child who is learning these skills.)

Overdue: The Misadventure of Bob the Book by Gloria Koster is a picture book from Bob's point of view. Bob is the most wanted book at Wisdom Hill Elementary, but at Sebastian's house, he gets lost in a mess and then put on a shelf for months! Finally Bob is found and Sebastian decides to give the book a try and loves it!

The illustrations were good but could have been better. I laughed out loud a few times on my own and can't wait to read this one to my own kiddos!

This book is a good reminder for kids to appreciate and take care of books and also to read them! I also liked the idea of the Book Care Tips page at the back of the book.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the Advanced Reading Copy!

A popular book is unread and forgotten in this cartoon-style picture book. The book is used to getting read voraciously and then returned, but when one little guy takes the book home, reads him, then misplaces him, everything changes.

The cool part of the story is that when the guy who lost the book finally reads it (for some unknown reason), he loves it and seems to find a love for reading.

This isn't a book that would do great as a group readaloud, and my kids didn't demand seconds.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

What if you were a book that was borrowed from the school library and the child not only forgot to return you, but completely forgot about you all together? This is what happens in this cute story about a forgotten library book who finally is remembered and returned. I liked this book - thought the illustrations were OK - looked a little computer generated for me, but I love old-school illustrations, so it might just be me. Cute story, though!

This picture book has a cute storyline about a popular book from a school library who ends up forgotten, abandoned, and overdue at a student's house. The illustrations are fun, the ending is satisfying, and this will be relatable and funny for lots of kids and librarians.

Such a cute book about the importance of looking after library books.

I’ve taken my own children to libraries from a very young age as I feel it’s so important to ensure a love of reading.

This beautiful story is wonderfully illustrated. The book talks about how children will learn to love books if they just give them a try.

Bob the book narrates the story which will get young readers involved throughout. He talks about how all the children who read him love his story and he is consistently taken out of the library until one day he becomes lost is a little boy’s house…

Thank you to Net Galley and Capstone for the ARC of Overdue.

This is the perfect book to add to my elementary school library. We have books that are exactly like this, books that are always checked out and usually on hold for the entire year, circulating from student to student, classroom to classroom, and home to home.

There are excellent tips within this book about book care, which makes it such a great book to start out the year.

The only downside is when the librarian allows a student to take the book for the summer. I hold summer hours but as around 20% of our students end up moving in the summer, I cannot do summer loans and I don't want to create that expectation.

"Overdue: The Misadventure of Bob the Book" by Gloria Koster is a children's picture book told from the point of view of Bob the book. Kids love Bob, but at Sebastian's house, he isn't treated with care and isn't even read. He gets lost in a mess. At the end of the school year, the librarian sends a notice home about the missing book. Sebastian finds it and finally reads it over - and over and over.

This book reminds kids to take care of books and, most importantly, read them! It's a good message for all of us. There's a Book Care Tips page at the end of the book.

Pawel Gierlinski is the illustrator of this book. The cartoon-like pictures are great. Bob, the book is shown to have a personality

Thank you to Netgalley, Capstone Editions, and the author, Gloria Koster, for providing this e-book ARC so that I could give you my honest review.

Loved this idea for a picture book! I think a lot of kids and parents will relate to this book because we’ve all definitely been there — borrowing something just for it to get lost in the shuffle. Bob is the most popular book in the elementary school library and he’s check out by a student who completely forgets about him for months until school is almost over and he’s worried he’ll never get back. I really liked the ending and think it’ll be a great fit for any library or children’s collection!

Thank you Capstone Editions for the eARC via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A book about a book… yes please!! We grabbed this book from Netgalley and Capstone to review. This was such a cute book the did a 180% change from the beginning to the end. When you’re the most popular book from the library but then you go missing at one of the kids house and can’t escape your world changes. And when you are the kid who signs out the most popular book and forget about them for so long that you actually like reading now. Haha it was a great read with great characters and a good storyline.
We would recommend this book to all those who enjoyed reading.

What happens when you're the most popular book in the library? Unfortunately for Bob, he is misplaced and nobody is reading him! Thank goodness, once they get the notice that the book is overdue and must go back, Sebastian pulls out all the stops and finds Bob.
What a great book! Sebastian reads Bob again and again before giving him back. Once he's safely back with his friends at the library, they talk about what can happen when people don't take good care of their library books. Such a cute story and great information about libraries and book care.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
