Knight of the Goddess is just what this series needed. While I felt that book two and three were lacking, book four pulled it all back together for a win. Morgan and Draven were great and the writing was excellent, the descriptions vivid and my book loving self is happy with the outcome.
Thank you netgalley for an arc of Knight of the Goddess by Briar Boleyn
4.25⭐ rounded up to 5. What a great ending to a captivating series!
❤️ Fast pace and high stakes
❤️ Animal companions
❤️ Character and relationship development
❌ Cringey sexual violence
❌ Unnecessary deaths
Trigger Warnings: violence and torture, blood and gore, death, war, public sex, cannibalism, abduction, abuse and death (including of animals and children), trauma, etc. (check the list at the end of the book before you dive in).
Plot:
King Arthur is dead and the war between Pendrath and its neighbouring kingdoms has finally ended. But the world faces an even greater peril, as an old evil is stirring and threatening to destroy everything in its path. Morgan and Draven must choose between staying behind to protect their vulnerable family, rushing to their allies’ aid, or facing the threat head-on.
This book was fast-paced and immersive, with high stakes and great reveals, but no tedious info dumps. It was definitely hard to put down! However, I feel like only one of the character deaths made a lot of sense and drove the plot, while others felt rushed or like they were added for shock value. I also felt like leaving Medra behind without a more decent plan, and making an outsider regent, made no sense whatsoever.
Characters:
No surprises here: the animal companions were my favourite characters, again! I’d seriously read a novella on Hawl and the bearkins. I MEAN, who wouldn’t love a whole book on a snarky, gender-fluid, talking master-chef warrior bear? Sign me up! Odessa was also a nice surprise. I don’t feel like we saw much of her in the previous books, but it was great to get to know her better and I loved her interactions with Medra.
I wasn’t a fan of Morgan throughout the series, but she grew on me in this one. She was a strong, yet flawed character who struggles with self-doubt and contradictions. I loved, loved, loved Draven, but some of his lines made me cringe. I know, I know, the dark romance genre glosses over all kinds of red flags, but I really can’t deal with she-asked-for-it quotes like “If you start this, you should know I won’t be able to stop and I can’t be gentle.” I also found that these additions felt a little forced, uncharacteristic for Draven. Other than that, I really loved Morgan and Draven’s relationship and how it wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows. Just like it’s great for characters to have flaws, I think relationships (especially the main ones) should also face some ups and downs and come out strong. It makes the characters more relatable, and the relationships feel more genuine, believable. The same applies to Morgan/Lancelet, and Crescent/Medra.
Writing:
Well written. Evocative, with vivid descriptions, great atmosphere, and top-quality banter! I’d be curious to read more from Boleyn.
(Ok, maybe it’s just me, or maybe it’s a non-native English speaker thing, but do grown women really use the word “belly” to refer to their midsection? Especially in bed? It sounded weird to me, aha!)
"Knight of the Goddess" by Briar Boleyn is a thrilling conclusion to the captivating Blood of a Fae series, delivering a satisfying finale that is both epic and emotionally resonant. Boleyn masterfully weaves together elements of mythology, romance, and adventure to create a rich and immersive fantasy world that will leave readers spellbound until the very end.
The novel picks up after the war between Pendrath and its neighbors, as peace finally comes to Camelot. However, the calm is short-lived as a new and terrifying evil threatens to engulf the land. Morgan Le Fay and Draven must once again embark on a perilous journey, racing against time to save their allies and destroy the three objects of untold power: the grail, the sword, and the spear.
One of the strengths of the book lies in its well-developed characters, particularly Morgan and Draven. Boleyn skillfully explores their complex relationship, delving into the depths of their love and sacrifice as they face unimaginable challenges together. The bond between Morgan and Draven is both enduring and profound, transcending time and space to become something truly divine.
The novel is filled with pulse-pounding action and high-stakes drama, as Morgan and Draven traverse kingdoms and battle formidable foes in their quest to save Camelot. Boleyn's vivid descriptions and dynamic prose bring the world of Arthurian legend to life, immersing readers in a world of magic, mystery, and adventure.
While the pacing may be slow at times, particularly in the middle portion of the book, Boleyn's evocative storytelling and richly drawn characters keep readers engaged throughout. The plot is filled with twists and turns, as Morgan and Draven uncover long-buried secrets and confront their own inner demons.
Overall, "Knight of the Goddess" is a captivating and satisfying conclusion to the Blood of a Fae series, delivering an epic finale that will leave readers breathless. With its compelling characters, thrilling plot, and richly imagined world, it is sure to delight fans of fantasy and Arthurian legend alike.
Queen of Roses (Book 1), Court of Claws (Book 2), Empress of Fae (Book 3), and the final installment, Knight of the Goddess (Book 4) are all part of a series by Briar Boleyn. If you are a fan of the ACTAR series, I highly recommend you give these a chance. I received these ARC ebooks from and want to thank, NetGalley, Starwater Press, and Briar Boleyn, for providing them to me to read and review. The third one caught my attention first, but to read it, I needed to read the prior two. Ok...how hard could that be? While reading Queen of Roses, and getting to know the characters and the setting, I was intrigued, but not overly so and I anticipated this being just an ok series. Then came the second book, Court of Claws, oh wow! It took off and I dove right into the third one, Empress of Fae, even though it was well past midnight. The third book ended on a cliffhanger, leaving me anticipating the fourth and final book, Knight of the Goddess. As with the others, Boleyn doesn't spare our feelings and intrigues the reader through unexpected twists. The ending was...wow! Boy was it worth the wait! While I'll miss these characters and following their story, I eagerly anticipate what fabulous new adventure Briar Boleyn has in store for us next. While you may be able to read one as a stand-alone, I would highly recommend you start from the beginning and read them all from the start.
This book is fantastic! I think everyone should read at least the first books and will be hooked. Thank you NetGalley!
Sad the story is over, hooked from the first book!!
Love the magical creatures, their adventures/quests and the worlds.
This was a very good series.
Awesome conclusion to this series. Morgan and Draven flirting had me squealing! I really loved the past lives concept and wish there was a spinoff series. So many moments had me crying, laughing and kicking my feet.
I enjoyed this series so much that I'm a little sad this journey had to come to an end! This is book 4 and the final book in the series. This series has held my attention from the start with the mystical creatures, romance and betrayal. The main characters are phenomenal and the side characters really support the storyline. With so many mind boggling twists in the plot and an unexpected ending to the series that left me speechless I would recommend this book to any fantasy reader!
This book being the conclusion did not disappoint and definitely made me feel all the different emotions throughout the story. This is a dark romantasy so check content warnings before diving in. Book 4 was my favorite in the entire series
As the series draws to a close, Boleyn leaves no thread untied, delivering a conclusion that is as satisfying as it is breathtaking. With Knight of the Goddess, she has crafted not just a finale, but a masterpiece—a testament to the enduring allure of magic and the unyielding strength of love.
What unfolds is a journey fraught with danger and mystery, as Morgan and Draven venture across kingdoms, confronting both external foes and inner demons. Boleyn masterfully weaves together a tapestry of magic, mythology, and romance, each page brimming with palpable tension and heart-stopping twists. Boleyn expertly explores themes of sacrifice, redemption, and the enduring power of hope.
In the end, Knight of the Goddess is more than just a book; it’s an experience—a journey of the soul that leaves you breathless, exhilarated, and profoundly moved. Briar Boleyn has indeed woven her magic once again, leaving readers spellbound until the very last word.
This was a great wrap up to an entertaining dark romantasy series. Morgan, Dragen, and all of their found family make a wonderful group of loveable characters. The action in this book was well written, and death scenes felt much more impactful than those in previous books in the series. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone looking for a new romantasy series!
Thank you to Starwater Press and NetGalley for providing me with a free ARC of this book in exchange for my review.
This was exactly the right way to end a series.
For me this was a fairly slow start only because I was really excited to jump back into the story and we started off with a journey. Totally necessary piece of the story and it was entertaining but that is the only thing that held me back from 5 stars.
The conclusion however. This was the most satisfying, well thought-out conclusion to a fantasy series I've seen in a while. It was a whirlwind of emotion and action. I loved how everything came together in the end.
I loved this series as a whole and cannot wait to read Briar's upcoming release(s).
Thank you to Netgalley and Briar Boleyn for this amazing opportunity. I received this eARC as a street team member and ARC reader but am leaving my review freely and honestly.
I have so many things I want to say about this book. But honestly, it's so difficult without giving everything away.
Knight of the goddess is the last and final installment of the Blood of a fae books. It smoothly transitions from the third book, Empress of Fae.
Morgan has definitely grown through all of them. At first, you would find a naive young lady who later matures and takes her place as a leader. A Savior even. Draven. What can I say about this guy? I think his most outstanding trait was of his loyalty to Morgan. There are so many moments in this book that make you want to scream or throw it to the floor because of certain events. But. You. Push. Through.
With regards to the story, I felt the beginning of this book plateaued a bit after the third book and really took off around just after the halfway mark. With that said, it was twist after turn at that point. Anything could happen. And it did. Many times.
Overall, my rating is 4 stars 🌟
I really enjoyed these books. 📚
There were a lot of familiar elements from other famous romantasy novels. However, depending on how you look at it, it isn't necessarily a bad thing. Thank you to Netgalley, Briar Boleyn, and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read all four books in this series in exchange for an honest review. I would definitely recommend it!
All opinions expressed are my own.

This book is devastating, I cried more than once. I loved this series so much and this was the most beautiful ending even if it's bittersweet. This is one of my top favorite series and I can't wait to see what else Briar has in store!
Thank you so much @netgalley, Starwater Press and Briar for the digital review copy ❣️
Let me start off by saying that I really enjoyed the first three books of this series. I have no idea what happened here. I never got into this book. I found myself very confused at times. The author made hints at things without actually saying it like I should know and honestly, I didn't. Maybe it's because I didn't remember everything from the first three books. I think having a recap sentence when referencing things would have been helpful. The battle scenes were also confusing. I found Morgan to have regressed in her character development. She was doing things like hiding the truth like she did in previous books. I thought we had moved past that stage. Once I got to the part of losing Gawain, Odessa, and Rychel in the span of three chapters I was done. We didn't even get a satisfying closure with Rychel which was a disappointment. Also, taking two people from Crescent and also his daughter being hurt. It was just too much. I really had high hopes for this one but, unfortunately, it wasn't for me.
Thank you to the author for this copy in exchange for my honest review.
the final and fourth installment of the blood of a fae series is finally here!! and let me just say, wow it was such a wild and wonderful ride experiencing this story and getting to fall in love with the characters.
morgan and draven defied all the odds stacked against them time and time again, and they survived all of the painful moments they experienced. i absolutely loved getting to see them finally have their happy ending together<3
I love fated mates. So this series so far has been an absolute pleasure for me. I went into the first book completely blind and am so glad I did. I had no idea I needed a King Arthur Fae book in my life. I was completely sucked in from the very first chapter and couldn’t get enough. Each book so far has been fantastic. The world building was clear and concise, not overblown and all the characters are well thought out and written. Every book so far has had nothing but action and adventure and it’s been amazing.
Book 3 was no exception. We pick up with Morgan having left Draven and she ends up back in Pendrath after jumping through one of the fae. arches. Lancelet is alive. Merlin is not longer high priestess. There’s a rebellion. Arthur is married and his queen is with child. The rebels want Morgan to go into the castle as a spay. It’s utter chaos and it’s glorious. Not having Draven IP for most of the book was a bummer but we did get some saucy dream scenes that will wet your whistle.
A LOT happens at the end- which I will not talk about because, spoilers.
Diving into book 4 asap.
Wow. That's the gist of this review--just wow. This was an incredible end to this series, and I can't think of a way it could have ended better.
I laughed. I cried. I cried some more. I wished Draven was my husband. And then cried again.
Morgan's growth throughout this series was incredible--even more so because she didn't lose who she was. Love and friendship conquer all, and were her strength from the beginning through to the end. It's so rare to see a female character not become "hard" or totally change who she is because of the situations she found herself in--and Morgan changed, but she stayed true to herself. Just stronger.
You will be heartbroken reading this. This is definitely not one of those fantasy books where plot armor exists. But every loss had a purpose and was so well written.
OBVIOUSLY I loved this book. I loved this series. I will probably read everything Briar writes until the end of time.
If you love King Arthur retellings. If you love the Fae. If you love love, and friendship, and magical creatures--please pick up this series and read it through to the end. Each book is better than the one before it, and it's been a LONG time since I've seen a series end so perfectly.
Briar Boleyn truly has magic herself when creating these stories. What a gripping and truly enthralling conclusion to the Blood of a Fae series. I discovered this series through NetGalley when Briar posted the series up in anticipation for the release of this book and I was so thankful to have gotten the ARC for the release of Knight of the Goddess.
The story is the perfect balance of a dark fantasy with topics that do warrant trigger warnings, so be sure to check them ahead of time if you have any. The bond between Morgan and Draven is one I will be dreaming of for ages, the obstacles they faced together and apart in the first three books feels so rewarding seeing the two of them finally be together and accepting of one another. That throne scene had me blushing the entire time!
Knight of the Goddess gives a gripping tale of what Morgan and her loved ones must do to finally defeat their great enemy. The story is written with gripping prose to engage the reader and keep you wanting more but with easy to read story telling so it's not confusing for those who may just be entering the fantasy genre. It's a wonderful conclusion and I cannot believe the story has come to a close, I will be sure to keep a close eye out for anything Briar releases in the future.
Thank you NetGalley and Briar Boleyn for this ARC!
This book was a bit darker than the previous books. The author really took these characters THROUGH IT. Though, the heaviness was balanced with playful banter and comedic relief. I think Morgan had a lot of character growth over the course of the series and I was happy with the way her character turned out in this book for the most part, though her personality did slightly annoy me at times. Draven remains a top tier MMC and had some swoon-worthy lines. This book was full of twists and reveals! Overall, this was a satisfying conclusion to the series!
Thank you to Briar Boleyn, Netgalley, and Victory Editing for proving me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Book 4 of the Blood of a Fae series yanked my heart straight out of my chest, squeezed it like Play-Doh, threw it down to stomp it, and then put back in my chest to beat again. The story flowed with emotional ebb and flow. Can't say too much more without spoiling everything!
