5/5 Stars! Thank you, NetGalley and Chronicle Books for this eARC of Goth Parenting by Casey Gilly.

This was super cute and pretty fun to follow. Easy read and loved the fun illustration. This is definitely a book to get for my dark/dark humor friends - I have several in mind that I will want to gift this for them!

Very clever and quick easy read. Love this!

Thank you Netgalley for the advance reader copy of Goth Parenting by Casey Gilly in exchange for an honest review. While I don't have kids of my own and am not able to, my sister and my best friend do and they would love this book. I definitely liked that it gave me something to relate to as that's the type of parent I would have been and the type of aunt I am.

Omg- oh my goth! This was such a precious (but dark!) read. The illustrations made the book for me, I would love to have some of those framed on the wall of a nursery or give as a baby shower gift. The advice was solid as well, and humanized all the diverse aspects of parenting. I laughed and I picked up some food for thought, the perfect combination. Even if you're not goth you'll see a piece of yourself in this book.

And for those of us who aren't yet parents to humans, they do call out that cats are siblings too!

This was a cute, quick read that reminds you of the highs and lows of parenting and allows you to be different. The illustrations associated with each page are incredible and I was eager to see what the next one would show.

The MCR reference was much appreciated as was the cat’s are siblings stance.

While I am not a parent, I do have littles in my life and friends who are at the age where I’m expecting a pregnancy announcement- they’ll be receiving a copy of this book when that time comes

Thank you Netgalley for giving an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Now, am I a parent? No. Am I goth? Also no. But man did I enjoy this cute and informative book about parenting little bats! The illustrations were adorable, the content made me laugh, and now I’m debating if the goth way is my way for raising little vampires. I had such a blast!!

This is such a fun twist to parenting books/ parenting guides. I love how the the Casey Gilly doesn’t take herself too seriously and presents something that is both fun and informative. I like the lists and the chapter covers. 4.5/5

Thank you, #NetGalley for the ARC. All words are mine. This review is for an uncorrected copy. #GothParenting

I love different parenting books and this one is perfect for the goth couple! It isn't as much of a parenting book, per se, more of a this is your life with kids book. It's quirky and fun.

From the dedication to the last page, this book had me smiling (how very ungoth of me). Where was this book when I had my first kid??? The artwork, the humor, the journey through the ages, the prose.... I need a parenthood friend group of those who have read this book and will be using it as their guidebook / sanity saver. This book is as sweet as it is funny and my only complaint is that I don't have a hardcopy in my hands now.

This was such a fun read. Alt parents aren't usually included in cutesy baby books, so I appreciated this. Not only did I get a few laughs in, but it's also full of solid advice. Great read! 🦇

Fun and laughs aren’t generally associated with Goths 🖤 but this book made me laugh and want to be a goth again. I have always loved bats and skulls and black and now I can share that with my kids. Although I will admit I like hot pink too so I’m just multi faceted.

This was a joy to read. Not only is it filled with succinct parenting tips, but the illustrations are gorgeous. And the sprinkling of Gothic references throughout were perfectly timed. Overall an adorable, highly recommended read.

The advice was gold and the gothic references to art, literature, and music were well executed. I can't wait to own a copy!

Gilly provides parenting tips beginning at the baby shower and going through to grandparenthood. While short and sweet, even I (someone who is, so far, only a dog parent), can see many nuggets of wisdom tucked between fun and humorous goth, emo, and punk references. Besides Gilly’s writing, Robinson’s illustrations show a variety of goth families of all shapes, sizes, genders, and expressions. I can almost guarantee anyone would be able to find someone like them in this book of less than 100 pages. She truly shows that anyone can be a goth (and a parent). This is not a scientific text filled with the latest parenting theories but is instead a general guide with gentle reminders for parents as they navigate raising a baby bat (or gremlin). It’s something I can see people picking up after a long day when they need a reminder that not burning the house down and getting their child to eat (even if it was just a bowl of pasta) is a victory.
