Loved it. I love cars so this books was so nice to read. You should check it out this book if you love cats also. I would give it 5 stars.
Rescue Cats: Portraits and Stories is a collection of beautiful photographs by animal photographer Traer Scott. It combines emotional and engaging short stories about rescue cats and kittens and their journeys to finding forever homes.
As a cat lover and owner for over 25 years, I found this book easy to read, visually pleasing, and moving; an absolute gem! We recently lost our two male cats within six months of each other and have been heartbroken. This book reminds me of the many resilient, charming, and graceful felines that have enhanced my life. It portrays the beautiful bond between feline companions and their humans as they find their second chance at life in their forever homes.
This book is a must-read for anyone interested in stories about resilience, compassion, second chances, and cat aficionados and admirers. It's more than a book; it's a heartfelt gift waiting to be shared. Whether for a fellow cat lover or someone in need of a heartwarming story, this book is a perfect choice.
I look forward to purchasing and gifting it. Thank you, Chronicle Books, for providing me with an advanced DRC book for review via NetGalley. Please note that all the opinions expressed in the review are my own.

In this gorgeous 114-page book, award-winning animal photographer Traer Scott shares charming photographs and brief stories of rescue cats. Some of these poor cats have experienced terrible traumas, but they are remarkably resilient and have been fortunate to find homes with people who love and care for them. The author is admittedly not a cat person but did a wonderful job capturing the character of these cats.
Some of the stories made me cry, but they end well. My heart goes out to all of these cats and the loving people who are willing to provide for their sometimes-extensive special needs.
The book was created with the assistance of a cat behaviorist and an experienced cat rescuer, who both contributed short essays.
This book would make a wonderful gift for any cat lover or anyone interested in animal rescue.
Thanks to Princeton Architectural Press for providing me with an electronic ARC through NetGalley. I volunteered to provide an honest review.
Being a cat owner for all my life, I loved this book. The stories are sweet. We lost our gentle, big tabby boy 4 months ago and reading some of these made me cry. Our bonds with our pets are truly special and every cat deserves a loving home.
It’s very cute and makes no claims to more than encouraging you to like cats if you don't already. The photos are all lovely. The stories are just enough and none of it feels like “inspiration porn”. I also appreciated that these weren’t famous cats, and in many cases their rescue story isn’t especially exceptional. The special kitties felt accessible without romanticizing or downplaying the care (and costs!) some of them need.
As the saying goes: who rescued who? This book is filled with charming stories of rescue cats and gorgeous portraits of the animals. Would make a nice gift for a cat lover.
This was such a cute book! I loved reading about all of the amazing rescue cats featured in this book as well as their touching stories. The photography featured in this book was also so special and I loved seeing all of the various cats throughout the book. I really enjoy books like these as I love cats very much and have two of them myself. Hopefully this book will also inspire more people to adopt and rescue cats!
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
This was extremely touching, and by turns heartbreaking and heartwarming. The author is a photographer and a Dog Person. Two friends- Cat Persons both- cajoled the author into this photo essay of rescued cats, and gave each of their stories.
Aiyiyi! As a Cat Mommy myself of rescues, I was in tears reading some of these stories. Especially when I would see the picture of the little cat. One would need to be cold as a cucumber to not get upset. Fortunately, most but of the stories had happy endings. The cats had found a loving home and blossomed,, despite physical limitations. It's amazing that some of them were able to do so, but cats are astoundingly resilient
While reading some of these, particularly those dealing with motherless kittens, I was struck by how common it is for these kittens to die despite all of the attempts to save them. I raised my precious little Snoopy after he was found on a street in Norfolk at 7-10 days old. He was 0.45 ounces and covered with infected sores. I cried my eyes out every time I tried to give him a bottle and he had trouble latching. The veterinarian said that he most likely would die and that I shouldn't get attached. Okay! That's easier said than done! I bottle-fed him, bathed him, helped him to go potty, medicated him, prayed over him and loved him to pieces. He has blossomed!! He is a perfectly happy, mischievous, confident and spoiled baby boy. Reading about all of these kittens that died really showed me what a little miracle he is. He was one of the lucky ones.
Here is Snoopy's birthday portrait from July; he's now One Year Old:

Although this upset me, it also had an element of hope. There really are some decent caring people in the world. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to deliberately adopt a special needs cat. I think that's awesome! So this was another positive take away: it restored my faith in humanity 😍

This photography book focuses specifically on cats and shines a light on their personalities and uniqueness which is reflected in the book's structure. The photos are accompanied by stories that are heartfelt, surprising, shocking, and even tragic, but each one is full of love and will make you fall in love with each cat subject. Many of these cats have tragedy in their stories of being found or rescued, but each one is special and the photographs showcase just how special each is, making your heart feel so full. These stories focus on the happy endings for these cats though will break your heart just as much as they will fill it. This is highly recommended for all animal lovers and will make you appreciate all the furry friends in your life.
I am a sucker for rescue animal books. Our wedding guestbook was a cat photography book, so this one definitely caught my eye. I found the photos in this book to be gorgeous, and the stories were amazing.
If I’m splitting hairs, my only feedback would be not needing as much detail about their medical history post being rescued, and this is only because I’ll worry about them getting better. I’m fine with it ending at them being rescued and are living alongside their amazing owners, and various fur siblings
4 out of 5 stars because I felt it was too short. If it is something you want to read in one sitting though I highly recommend. Cute cats and happy endings are the heart of this book.
This book was gripping and hard to put down. It didn't feel like everything else you see out there, it felt very fresh. I really enjoyed this book!
This is a beautifully photographed and narrated book about the brave and selfless persons who adopt and care for cats that suffer from injury or disability. It is a necessary work and worthwhile read.
Thank you to Chronicle Books and NetGalley for providing this eARC.
What's not to love about stories of cats and kittens that were rescued from bad situations that then flourished in their new environments? If you're an animal lover, make sure you keep a box of tissues handy. These heartwarming stories and the beautiful photographs that accompany them, are sure to hit you right in the feels. This would be a great gift for the cat lover in your life, or for anyone you know who might foster or work with an animal rescue.
Thank you to Traer Scott, Chronicle Books, and Netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was such a surprise, I opened NetGalley and this book was in my shelf. This book made my little Cat Lady heart soar!
Rescue Cats was an adorable book with beautiful photos and outstanding stories.
Perfect for me and my fellow Cat Ladies or any animal lover. I can't wait to read more from Traer Scott.
Thank you to Princeton Architectural Press and NetGalley.
I would read at least fifty more books all about cats! These are all such lovely stories about cats who got a second chance at a happy life! So wholesome.
What an adorable book! There is a multitude of beautiful photos and heartwarming stories about CATS. These cats are not perfect cats, they are rescue cats, special needs cats and cats that had a rough start in life but they are all beautiful! There are Romeo and Juliette, Floyd, Squiggy and many more. All of them were lucky enough to meet their human angels at some point. A cat lover myself, I devoured the stories and feel such gratitude for their saviors.
This book is not a novel, it’s a piece of art and a perfect coffee table book. The photos are gorgeous, the individual stories are short, and I was able to read the whole book in about an hour.
I thank Netgalley, PAPress and the author from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity to read this advance copy. The above is my honest opinion, and I may just go and buy a copy of the book when it’s available!
Rescue Cats is a heartwarming and informative slim and rich book about some rescue cats.
The photos in the book are well-done and represent each of these characters effectively.
There’s no need to say that all of the cats in the book have a unique personality, they are their own cat.
And they are heroes.
Thanks to everyone involved in respecting the lives of the cats in this book.
I am a cat lover but my husband is allergic to cats so I have to live vicariously through others and this book is exactly what I needed to boost my spirits and give me hope. I am so impressed with all of the human heroes who rescue cats and take chances on either trying to help ill, elderly or disabled cats get a second chance and a good life. I was amazed at how many times it was a Vet Tech who had to convince the Vet to give the cat a chance and how the Vet Techs ended up fostering and caring for the cats. The photos and stories in here are amazing and beautiful. I admit I cried at points out of hopefulness and in some cases sadness. But if ever I need a mood elevator -- this is the book I will return to again and again.
Thank you to Netgalley and Chronicle Books for an ARC and I voluntarily left this review.
A beautiful book with pictures and stories about cats. The saying, our pets are like family, is captured so well in this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an Advanced Reader’s Copy in exchange for an honest review.
